UEFA Champions League Fantasy Football 2019/20 Last 16 – 2nd Leg, Part 2!
Hello everyone and welcome to UEFA Champions League Fantasy Football 2019/20 Last 16 – 2nd Leg, Part 2!.
Right then, forget that Scottish nonsense, real football is back on Friday! (In fairness it’s doing a roaring trade and has attracted over 400 comments as we speak). But come on you CL’ers, time to stand up, do us proud and put that particular Scotch Egg back in its basket (and no, I don’t mean GP).
We begin again on Friday and essentially we pick up where we left off way back in March. But it’s a bit weird as we are basically half way through the 2nd part of the last 16. Four of the quarter finalists are already decided, the other four are still to be decided as those eight teams need to complete their 2nd legs of the original ties. And only then can we move on onto the rest of the tournament. And you yourselves will have been left in limbo, half-way between rounds with subs next on the agenda. Confused yet? Don’t worry, we got you..
So what do you really need to know this week…
It’s as you were…
It looks like the game is literally restarting where we left off. There are no extra transfers, no wildcard or unlimited transfers as per FPL. Essentially we were part way through a GW and so you just have to crack on as if the last 5 months never happened, which a lot of us wish hadn’t, ironically.
In theory you should find your team with points from the completed first half of the last 16, ready for you to bring in any manual subs for the final four games, a bit like this:
That’s mine, and so it looks like I’m all set to bring in a few bench players to replace my lower scorers. You should find yourselves with something similar.
The Fixtures and Subs
Which brings us on to the fixtures as these games are still split over two days, as follows:
And we can still make changes between the two, so in my example above I’ll initially be subbing in my Juve guys before Friday’s deadline and then I can bring in Gnabry on Saturday, if necessary.
Captain
Suffice to say I won’t be touching my captain but if you weren’t so lucky to have put it on the legend that is IIicic then you can move it before Friday and then again on Saturday if necessary.
Deadline(s)
The main one is the first one of course which is Friday 7th August at 8pm GMT. Which is kick off time too so you will at least have the benefit of seeing the team sheets for all of Juve, Lyon, Man City and Real Madrid. Your subs will need to be done by then.
The next one is Saturday 8th August again at 8pm.
Beyond that?
You then get unlimited transfers once again ahead of the quarter-finals, 5 for the semis and 5 for the final itself.

The Top 10 as we stand…
(Apologies for it clearly being my screenshot and not a neutral one but DMC usually provides that and he had the temerity to step into the top 10 this time and therefore couldn’t provide one. I did ask Elle to do so but he sent me something akin to a screenshot of Space Invaders from his Amstrad).
Should be fairly straight-forward this week but if you have any queries just post them in the comments below and as always ask questions, post teams and generally just have a good natter…
Is Cancelo likely to start? .1 short for Walker.

Who knows with the city teamsheet lol. But he played against real madrid with it being in such an important match, its possible that same xi plays again. Cancelo can play on the left or right so it might give him a better chance. Walker wouldn’t be totally nailed on too. Could be walker/cancelo, walker/mendy, cancelo/mendy lol
Mendy was suspended for that game. But he did play well so maybe Pep leaves him in there, who really knows with Pep.
Man, can’t wait for this Atalanta-PSG game. “Should” be a cracker w/ some goals. Anyone got any predictions? Or even picking any Atalanta players? My picks would be: Zapata or Muriel (both in the top 5 scorers in Serie A this season w/ something like 18 goals each (and a some assists); Pasalic (who scored a hatrick a few weeks back); Gosens (10 goals, 8 assists in Serie A), Gomez (8 goals and 16 assists), Hateboer (2 in CL), Malinovskiy (9 goals); etc. This teams should have goals in them all around.
I don’t think they get by PSG. That defence is not great and if they give them PSG killers space it will equal tons of trouble.
I am not buying the Atalanta hype, I be happy if I was wrong as I would love to see Muriel and Zapata advance.
Bayern are better than Barca in my opinion.
Atletico are a nightmare of a team, but I do wonder if single elimination hurts them.
City to get by Lyon in the last match up.
The one thing I will say though, with it being single elimination it does set up the games for more upsets. Atalanta get that first goal or Lyon get that first goal and a team like City or PSG could panic quickly in particular with their history of coming up short in big moments.
They might not get by but they could prolly get a goal or two while they’re at it. With 5 free transfers for the next round, you could prolly pick a couple of players from teams that might not go through but might get goals, more so players from Atalanta and Barca, prolly, than Leipzig/Atletico or Lyon.
Prolly go for a mid or defender tho as you got a wealth of better choices up top from the top teams.

Your subs are all wrong. You can’t get Navas off the bench after Gulácsi has played, or indeed after Navas has played, need to switch those. And stick Laimer in now as you’ll never remember to do that before he plays

Selection itself looks fine.
Chances of both going out are slim but many would be stuck with the same situation. This is where you have to get a bit lucky. Or still have an emergency chip.
Is there a chance that Sarabia won’t play now that Mbappe is fit to start?
No way of telling until the line ups are announced. Luckily we can see who’s playing an hour before the game and deadline as you prolly know..

Yeah I’m going to try to avoid that game. I can’t call it. Bayern will be favourites but I think it could be tight.

Hard to say but he’s probably their second best central defender.
