UEFA Champions League Fantasy Football 2019/20 Last 16 – 2nd Leg, Part 2!

Hello everyone and welcome to UEFA Champions League Fantasy Football 2019/20 Last 16 – 2nd Leg, Part 2!.

Right then, forget that Scottish nonsense, real football is back on Friday! (In fairness it’s doing a roaring trade and has attracted over 400 comments as we speak). But come on you CL’ers, time to stand up, do us proud and put that particular Scotch Egg back in its basket (and no, I don’t mean GP).

We begin again on Friday and essentially we pick up where we left off way back in March. But it’s a bit weird as we are basically half way through the 2nd part of the last 16. Four of the quarter finalists are already decided, the other four are still to be decided as those eight teams need to complete their 2nd legs of the original ties. And only then can we move on onto the rest of the tournament. And you yourselves will have been left in limbo, half-way between rounds with subs next on the agenda. Confused yet? Don’t worry, we got you..

So what do you really need to know this week…

It’s as you were…
It looks like the game is literally restarting where we left off. There are no extra transfers, no wildcard or unlimited transfers as per FPL. Essentially we were part way through a GW and so you just have to crack on as if the last 5 months never happened, which a lot of us wish hadn’t, ironically.

In theory you should find your team with points from the completed first half of the last 16, ready for you to bring in any manual subs for the final four games, a bit like this:

That’s mine, and so it looks like I’m all set to bring in a few bench players to replace my lower scorers. You should find yourselves with something similar.

The Fixtures and Subs
Which brings us on to the fixtures as these games are still split over two days, as follows:

And we can still make changes between the two, so in my example above I’ll initially be subbing in my Juve guys before Friday’s deadline and then I can bring in Gnabry on Saturday, if necessary.

Captain
Suffice to say I won’t be touching my captain but if you weren’t so lucky to have put it on the legend that is IIicic then you can move it before Friday and then again on Saturday if necessary.

Deadline(s)
The main one is the first one of course which is Friday 7th August at 8pm GMT. Which is kick off time too so you will at least have the benefit of seeing the team sheets for all of Juve, Lyon, Man City and Real Madrid. Your subs will need to be done by then.

The next one is Saturday 8th August again at 8pm.

Beyond that?
You then get unlimited transfers once again ahead of the quarter-finals, 5 for the semis and 5 for the final itself.

Those games themselves are schedulded as follows:

Quarters
12th August Atalanta v PSG
13th August RB Leipzig v Atletico Madrid
14th August Napoli / Barca v Chelsea / Bayern
15th August Real Madrid / Man City v Lyon / Juve

Semis
18th August
19th August

Final
23rd August

The Game Itself and the FF247 League Codes

You can access the game here – Fantasy Champions League

We have two leagues running;
Our official FF247 league code is 32NQYUI4KW
This one is the usual open air league that all and sundry are welcome to join; there are over 1000 people in it. We have no idea who most of them are!

Our other one, the ‘Regulars League’ is now only open to new entrants via email
Please email us on contact@fantasyfootball247.co.uk if you want the code.

The Regulars League Table
The Top 10 as we stand…

(Apologies for it clearly being my screenshot and not a neutral one but DMC usually provides that and he had the temerity to step into the top 10 this time and therefore couldn’t provide one. I did ask Elle to do so but he sent me something akin to a screenshot of Space Invaders from his Amstrad).

Should be fairly straight-forward this week but if you have any queries just post them in the comments below and as always ask questions, post teams and generally just have a good natter…

It is a cruel game when it gets to these stages.Expect the unexpected as in every season

Totally underserved. That was a pathetic performance and even worse tactics from the off. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a team with a more disconnected midfield and attack. And the front 3 are allowed to just knock off if they don’t have the ball because they couldn’t be arsed?! Imagine a Klopp or Pep front 3 doing that! And the defenders and midfielders are allowed to just knock off when the front 3 get it?! Imagine…. nevermind :dash:

I appreciate they were sans Veratti and ADM but he had Drexler there to integrate as a link. I know he got there eventually but more out of desperation than planning. I also appreciate it’s not his fault that his forwards decided to hit every shot like they were 5 yr olds who’d barely ever kicked a ball but still the bloke should have been sacked on the spot after about 30 minutes

If this lot somehow get to the final, I doubt they will, imagine what a City or Bayern would do to them. Ok granted, they’d be paralysed for 30 minutes by pissing themselves laughing at the tactics but once they recovered they’d annihilate them for an hour.

      • Meh, they don’t have to worry about tactics, unless Barca make it through to face them at some point they will have the two most talented players on the pitch. If Neymar had his shooting boots on today they win 4-1 or 5-1. Mbappe played 30 minutes and anyone can see how easy it was for them to start creating good chances.

I actually think they stand a very good chance to win it. If PSG lets City have the the ball, would love to see that City defence defending Neymar, Mbappe and Di Maria in space. Veratti is easily their best midfielder and he will help alot in terms of linking up play a lot better.

When you have someone like Neymar it is good tactics to give it to him and let him dribble at people, it does work and it did except for the final shot. All week all I read was that Atalanta was this or that, yeah they almost won it, but they didn’t deserve it at all. Mbappe is probably back fully fit next game along with the suspended players, think they just became a lot tougher. Having said that their next game is Atletico or RBL. If it is Atletico, they might be the one team I think could still beat them, because if anyone still left in the UCL could absolutely turn to shithousery and frustrate them it is those cu***s.

        • From what I saw tonight I don’t think they have either the nous or heart to beat any of Pep, Bayern or Simeone. Granted it’s a different team with the other two, as I said, but even so that’s probably not enough. They could get at City at the back but Pep will prep. They won’t get at the other two so easily even without prep, and they will.

        • They will get at Atletico easily, because Atleti will sit in and counter, getting shots and chances won’t be a problem, its if they are good chances, which is what Atletico usually limit.

Pep is not a genius when it comes to UCL games, when he had Barca he knew he had the better team and he didn’t concern himself with how to stop the other side because he knew his side could outplay them, basically the other side had to adjust to them. Since he left Barca though it has been one disaster class after another. When he was at Bayern and they were younger and better they were punished by Pep overthinking it, which is something even Bayern players have said he did. For many of the Madrid fans it felt almost impossible to beat City considering the first leg yet over and over many I saw on fan chats held out hope that Pep would do what he does and manage to somehow complicate matters.

I am still unsure about Bayern, even if they beat Barca I would still need to see them vs City, Psg or Atletico to be fully convinced they are equal or better than any of those three. They certainly have been playing very well for a while now.
