Welcome to World Cup 1st Group Phase Live Match Chat. The long four year wait is over and so is the tinkering for the first set of matches. We hope that you are happy with the 15 players you ended up with, but even if you decided against playing the fantasy version we still encourage you to partake in the chat below. We are sure there will be plenty to discuss that doesn’t always involve whether you should get assist points for a shot that was blocked or your striker really did touch the ball a la Kane before it went in. Predictor games, brackets, bets on the golden boot are all welcomed here. And yeah, even old school footy chat for those that who are just watching the games for fun and just want to talk about the Joga Bonito.
So that you have them to hand, we will post a screenshot of the substitution rules, transfer allotment, wildcard, boosters and of course we will have times and dates for all matches in this, the first of three group phases/rounds/fixtures or whatever you want to call it.

So what are everyone’s plans for their WC and B.B.? I feel the 2 go hand in hand unless you B.B. for last 16 (where you essentially get a WC) my sensible head says either between group games 2 and 3 or between last 16 and quarters as you only get 3 FTs and you may need more of the teams you back in 16 get knocked out.
It’s tempting to want to bring in all the players who performed well and /or those with a good fixture in Round 2 but I feel if you’re doing ok it’s best to wait?
Also whilst I can understand those wanting to take hits, I’d probably only do so if you have players who have cost a wedge and don’t look like playing. 4pts seems a lot more in this short game!

I thought I would use the given WC then BB in the Round of 16. My own wildcard then probably ahead of the QF.
Is this allowed in the rules? I haven’t checked them forensically yet.
I will use a free transfer ahead of tonight’s round 2 and then one again ahead of round 3.
Someone said on Twitter that you can use the wild card and BB in the same round. True or false?
You can use Wildcard and ‘either’ of the boosters in the same round, but you cannot use WC and both boosters in the same round. So you can WC and BB in the same round.

Hey lads, how is everyone doing? Round 1 been alright for me, hoping J -Rod starts and brings home some points. Ahead of round 2, people favoring any particular teams or players? I understand Ronaldo is the popular pick right now. Do I keep or sell Neymar for either Ronaldo/Cavani/Suarez? I am not sure of taking hits as the world cup has already been surprising us enough.

I haven’t looked yet but off the top of my head – Ronaldo in for Neymar given the Portuguese fixtures makes some sort of sense.

I’m in the same boat, almost feels like you’re chasing round 1 points with Ronnie. I think I’m going to stick as you’ve got to hope its swings and roundabouts. If you switch, you’ll be gutted if Ronnie blanks and Neymar comes through.

I brought him in, it’s a 2pt gamble at worst… better to try and fail than to not try! I’ve accepted the 2pt loss, would rather do that then regret it if he comes on and scores!

I have S.Sane going for Senagal today. On the assumption he will start, do you think it is worth subbing out a 2 pointer to bring him in? I will be hoping for lots of goals from Lewandowski so i’m kinda thinking its not worth it.
