World Cup 2014 Fixtures Schedule

World Cup 2014 Fixtures ScheduleFollowing on from our World Cup group by group analysis we are delighted to present to you our fixture tracker for the group stages. Many thanks to Andy who kindly volunteered to provide us with this along with his take on how it will all pan out in the usual colour coded fashion, complete with a current form guide which will give you an idea of how each team is shaping up in preparation for the big day. Hopefully this will be of some help to you all as you plan your fantasy teams and their progression through the group stages. We shall endeavour to update this as the competition progresses to the knock out stages to keep you as well informed as possible.

 Form Guide Key

W – Wins
D – Draws
L – Losses
F- Goals For
A- Goals Against
CS- Clean sheets attained in last 10 games

Rather than taking results from the last 6 games as per the norm I’ve stretched it out to include the last 10 games to try and include as much competitive football as possible as persistent freindly games are sometimes not the best stats to gather information from, I think only the Koreans have not had a competitive game in their last 10 games. The quality of opposition also varies greatly across the board.

NB All stats are up to date to the 23/05/14, all teams still have either 2 or 3 friendlies left to play until the competition kicks off.

Color Code Key

Purple – Not only do I think this team has a high chance of winning the game I also believe it may be possible for them to win by a fairly big margin.

Green – All green team games should be considered as favorites for this tie.

Yellow – All yellow team games should be considered, as it could possibly go either way.

Red – All red team games could see that team struggling in that corresponding fixture.

    Anyone keeping track of friendlies?
Some of the players who were highlighted in the Group Preview articles did well.

Tim Cahill (Australia) scored against SA

Lukaku scored a hatrick against Luxembourg, and De Bruyne scored as well, but it was a penalty. Hazard wasnt on the pitch, so he seems like the second choice PK taker. Chadli was also among the goals, and Januzaj played for Belgium for the first time. The manager did not look so keen on playing Januzaj in World Cup in the starting berth.

Anyway, Lukaku takers? Has a decent group and should score.

Good morning all, what’s cooking? Anything going on besides watching the Japs today? I might give the U.S. game a go tonight. Want to see how Klinsman lines up.

Right now im wondering about this feckin DGW1 for Brazil and Mexico. I asked this before as well and one of initt or Cookie said that there will be no such DGW.

      • inittowinit says:

I still don’t think there is. It states Group1 phase then Group 2 phase etc –

        3. ROUNDS
Please find a list of the rounds below:

I know it’s odd because effectively Group 1 is still going on after Group 2 has begun but I think we will see a situation where you have 2 teams in play that night. If that makes sense.

        • Wondering how our community would be favored? Surely the more confusing scenario would help us, but a DGW would be something that many managers in particular new ones would have trouble tackling. Frankly the harder the game the more it should help us.

        • The B says:

Would be quite a hassle then initt, dont you think? I hope Ronald the clown avoids such confusion and just awards the DGW, or else there will be two GWs going on simultaneously. Also we wont be able to predict any injuries in the on going first GW to field in players on to the second GW.

        • B we are trained professionals in parallel universes. I am worried though that Chins may get stuck in round 1, while the rest of us are finishing up round 2. :hippo:

      • NIN says:

I don’t see how there could be a dgw, the schedule is set out and there’s no changing it. Where would be build up come from?

      • It sure does look like a DGW, but I noticed they have round 2 starting on the 17th, so I wonder if there is any chance they would classify the Brazil vs Mexico as part of round 2, Surely not? That might make it to confusing. Problem is you can’t make any transfers until the round of 16, so loading up for that possible double also means you would have a very weakened side in round 2 since both would have a bye. Maybe 3 Brazilians and 1 Mexican?

        • I can’t see that a game for the masses like the WC one will have a DGW.
I’m with you guys though. More complicated, the better our chances.

        • The B says:

          Mito

There are 3 points for playing 61+ minutes, so im guessing most will probably field in 3 Mexicans as well. smile (If the DGW holds)

        • B, I haven’t looked at any of the rules. Only now that you asked about the double did I bother to look. Will have to really look at it this weekend. 23 man squad? Damn that’s a lot of players. Will have to do some heavy reading and look at the points system so I can see how to gain an advantage.

        • The B says:

I wish I was in your group in the Potty 32 Challenge. :hippo:

        • Calvin Clyne says:

That was my thinking; haven’t looked up the times of the games but imagine the Brazil one is a few hours after the others so I’d guess that GW 1 ends in that gap of a few hours.

If so it will still benefit us as not too many outside of FF websites will know to be on the site in that very small window of time to make any changes from the bench in time for GW 2.

        • Brazil plays before the group H 2nd game.

        • NIN says:

Groups/phases will overlap right throughout the group stages. Brazil kick the tournament off on the 12th and also kick off phase 2 on the 17th so phase 1 scores wont be updated until after the Korea v Russia game on the 17th and will include Brazil’s opener vs Croatia with their fixture on the 17th being the first of phase 2, so no dgw’s at all. It says in the rules that phase 1 ends on the 17th and phase 2 starts on the 17th meaning the Brazil game is completely separate to the group H games on the 17th despite being on the same day, it’s the exact same for the start/end of the other group ‘phases’, when the last games from the previous phase are starting, the fixtures from the new phase are starting also.

        • The B says:

How can Brazil vs Mexico be separated and added to scores of GW2? That would mean we have to finalize our squad for GW2 on 17th 16.00, and that would mean we would not be able to take account of injuries etc that take place in Russia vs Korea.

        • NIN says:

Haha, i think you’ve confused yourself mate. Just like other FF games, as soon and gwk1 starts we can pick our gwk2 teams yes? Brazil v Mexico IS the start of gwk2, it makes no difference that it’s sandwiched between Group H’s gwk1 fixtures. Every single match is a deadline in itself, we can make changes once the players team’s match hasn’t kicked off. The gwk1 totals will be added up after the Russia v Korea game, Brazil v Mexico starts gwk2, how could there possibly be a dgw? They only happen because of fixture pile ups, the WC schedule is set and unchangeable. There wont be any dgw’s, 100%. Read the rules again, gwk1 ends on the 17th (Belgium’s group play), gwk2 starts on the 17th, Brazil v Mexico (Group A)… simple really.

Don’t forget the MLS deadline today Mito et al.
Sitting on my arse watching a team of movers swam through my house packing everything in site. Seriously impressive to see these boys in action.
And when i say ‘seriously’, i mean ‘mildly’.
And when i say ‘impressive’, i mean ‘irritating’. I mean how many cups of tea do i need to make these people?!

Secretly hoping that Brazil vs Spain happens in Round of 16 so we can possibly kill off one favourite team in the WC. 😉
