Grab, Avoid or Bore Off!

Grab, Avoid or Bore Off!

What happens when we have too many days between fixtures? That’s right we come out with another instalment of grab, avoid or bore off! As anyone who has read it before knows, we do try and offer some valuable insight, but with a twist. While trying to give you some sensible opinions on transfers and other matters we certainly have some fun with it. This will be no different as we look at what players you should be looking to buy, hold or sell and also offering an opinion on Pelle’s granny goalkeeping skills. Yeah, you read that right. Well no more waffling from me as you will certainly get enough from our 3 ‘pros’ who never seem to follow the instructions below. So let the rambling commence…

[clear]Grab – You need this player on your squad.
Avoid – It’s a trap don’t get suckered in.
Bore off – Could care less either way. Grab him, avoid him or dress him up if you like.

Mito – great stuff mate. Very entertaining whilst we wait in anticipation for QPR v Spurs. Init’s starting to concern me though with his man-crushes….

Love these articles, a few differing opinions showing just why this is such a good game.

Not sure on the Cisse pick Cookie. After “spitgate” he’ll be facing a lengthy 6-7 game ban.

Other discussions definitely food for thought.

Morning everyone, and thanks for the latest reading!

Conundrum time (this is not thinly disguised bragging, honest!) I have 2FT, 2.5m, room for an extra Chelsea player, and a near-perfect front 13. The only ways I can see of marginally improving the outfield are to bring in Hazard (straight swap for Silva, Ozil, Cazorla or Eriksen – still just affordable, but maybe not for much longer) or Costa (for NDoye but I’d have use an extra FT and weaken my defence to raise cash, so not keen on that). Another option is to get a top-of-the-range goalkeeper, probably Courtois.

Any advice on those options, folks? See any other good alternatives?

Gkw, for me it’s hazard for erik/caz. How’d you go this week mate?

      • gkw says:

Poor GW for me by recent standards, Alex, though with a bit of luck tomorrow could still end up green. Thing is, all my midfielders are on good form and have good fixtures coming up! At the same time, Hazard is on super-good form…

Morning gkw – poor gameweek from you. Red arrow. Team is in disarray. It’s un-salvageable. May as well quit now…

OK, clearly not the case. My strong feeling is that if you want to at least maintain the ranking, Sanchez has to come back in. I’m dropping Ozil for Sanchez next week. All the top teams have him, and I recall Cookie’s comment a few days ago (with which I agree entirely) that those without Sanchez leave in fear each week on whether “this week will be the week” where he goes beserk again. Your defence should get you over the line for a top 100 finish at worst…

      • gkw says:

Cheers Blue Moon smile I thought about that one as well but Hazard is a higher priority than Sanchez for me. Maybe best to wait till Arsenal’s cup match in case Caz/Oz get injured.

      Albertini says:

Morning gkw, great season you’re having, keep it up mate!

Hazard must be your priority, I’d swap him with one of the Arsenal mids, keep the one you think is better, really can’t come to a conclusion on that matter.

      • gkw says:

Evening, Albertini. Great seasons we’re both having! Thinking about it any of my Spurs, Chelsea or Arsenal players (7 in total) could get injured before the end of this GW so I should just wait before deciding. Waiting will probably rule out (due to likely price changes) a simple swap from Erix/Caz to haz, but hey. What would really suck would be to bring in Hazard now but then he gets crocked against PSG or Soton while Arsenal have a goalfest vs West Ham. As things stand, if there’s no injuries etc I just bench my Soton players vs Chelsea and maybe bring in Courtois.

I wouldn’t do that Andy in all seriousness. Sorry I know I just poked fun at you earlier but in all honesty I wish you the best rank you can and as such bringing in Courtois excludes Hazard and or Costa for the DGW and / or the rest of the season unless you move on one of the others. I think you know you need Hazard back in. I’d stick close to Fix and monitor and hope for the best as I think that’s your best move long term and it’d be a shame not to do it if he rises in the meantime.

    Silverback says:

Morning all gkw I thk I would do Ozil > Haz Silva & Eriksen have a good run of games & Caz on pens , free kicks just edges Ozil for me. Also not sure on NDoyne he could hurt you , could down grd Mane (when are you going to play him) to Cork & up grd NDoyn might be able to fit Austin in or another cheers mate

      gkw says:

Silver, I coulda/shoulda done NDoye to Austin for this DGW. But that was a deliberate choice, based on NDoye’s better run of fixtures – so I’m sticking with him. Mane is a starter for me if he plays up front, which he did in the 2nd half vs Palace. Ozil to Haz is sensible but seems best left till after next GW as I reckon Arsenal have better prospects of a big score vs West Ham than Chelsea do vs Soton.

Thanks for all replies, I gotta dash to work now!
