Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! – Fantasy Premier League 2017-18

The International break gives us all the first opportunity to sit back and assess how we have fared so far. For some it’s a time of quiet reflection, for others it’s time for a Wildcard! Either way it’s a nervous time for fantasy managers as they wait and see if their stars return in one piece from their journeys far and wide. This particular break also sees the transfer window close so much can change, players will be added, some will be waved goodbye. We’ve decided to take a bit of a break ourselves for a few days but before we do we have asked a few of our regular writers to reflect on their own seasons so far, their fantasy plans and also their take on the season in general. Between them Cookie, Mito and Kop have had a good degree of success in fantasy games in the past. Now ok, that may be in Fantasy Cycling, Fantasy MLS and Fantasy NFL but it all still counts yeah? Yeah? No?! Well ok, Mito and Cookie have anyway. Kop just seems to enjoy playing these days. But as long as he’s happy, we’re happy, and all that… Joking aside, these lot follow football day in, day out and you’d be hard pressed to find a more knowledgeable or dedicated trio. So, let’s go see how their Fantasy PL seasons are going…

***New Article – Grab, Avoid or Bore Off!***

You won’t get many articles in this break as we are literllly taking one but here’s one none the less!

Asked some of the lads some pertinent questions on their seasons so far and their take in general. For the record I don’t think we got a single answer pertaining to the actual premise of the original point of the article!

    Great article.

My only real issue is Gross in my midfield. I have 0.5mil in bank so can get a midfielder for 6.0mil.

Is Gross any good, stuck him in team without doing much research on him, is Mooy enough better to make a transfer? Already made trade this week to get Salah.

What has the OX done in the past, I think he hardly scored a goal with the gunners. Wing Back is his best place at best based upon his career. A replacement for Courtinho, never they are in a totally different class. at present. Liverpool should get Lemar otherwise hold off. But hey, its not my cash.

Barca are supposedly in for Lemar now.

      • They unearthed comments with Coutinho saying that his dream would to be on Real Madrid. smile I know he was young, but Barca fans really despise Madrid and hopefully this turns them against him.

        • I be laughing with you, yet the LFC fans would feel better. I sell my favourite son for 150 million and throw in the other two. I don’t think you turn down that kind of money, but it be funny if Barca pulled the offer after LFC thought they had it. I am not completely sure that these prices will be around next season, at some point this craziness will have to stop or teams will start going all Leeds United on us. This will be a great “stock market” type study case, some will sell at the peak of the market and others will wait 6 months too long and it will end up costing their team millions. Can’t wait for a team who overspent having a fire sale at some point in the next season or two.

        • Kop Warrior says:

Regarding the comments made by fans, they’re no different to the comments made by fans of other teams when players leave or want to leave.

        • Kop Warrior says:

I’m sure if I looked hard enough I could find comments of a similar ilk.

I’m not for one minute condoning such comments. Liverpool fans above all others know what it’s like to experience a tragedy and really should know better than making such stupid comments.

Thinking of utilizing the WC folks and would appreciate any input..

    Currently:

    Foster/Elliot
    Davies, Stephens, Dann, Mee Mbemba
    Willian, Ramsey, Salah, KDB, Carroll
    JRod, Kane, Lukaku

Defense – Worried about Stephens starting, Palace are pish and Burnley not been great at home
Midfield – Willian place under threat with Hazard return, Arsenal are Arsenal and KDB playing too deep
Strikers – Kane not firing but think he will shortly

    WC team

    Foster (Elliot)
    Davies, Jones, Cedric, Stones (Mbemba)
    Micky, Erikson, Salah (Chiobalah, Carroll)
    Firminho, Morata, Lukaku

Defense – Like having spurs, united, city, Southampton and brom cover
Midfield – Swaying between micky and pogba….are there better 4.5 options? Possibly RLC
Striker – Worried about not having Kane but think Firminho/Morata shall accumulate more points that Kane/JRod (also spurs cover with Erikson.

Thoughs? Stick or twist? also have 2FT currently and also contemplating KDB/Rambo to D.Silva and Micky and saving the WC

    I need our help!

Cracking read, as always, guys. I’m trying to go with a more reserved strategy this year. I’ve nearly always blown my WC by now, but I’m gonna try and last until the GW7 IB this time. I’m also actually spending a few quid on defense for once, which is paying off so far. Thanks for highlighting Brady. He wasn’t particularly on my radar, but I’ll be keeping an eye out now.
