Fantasy Football Diary 2020/21 More hits than Elvis I can’t lie to you it’s not been a great four weeks, either in life nor FPL. Lockdown is back, the rain has been incessant it seems, and my FPL performance and mindset has been amateur at best, as you will soon discover. Still I’ve found a new friend in a heron, discovered Elvis and hopefully lost Trump….and also taken the biggest hit I’ve ever done in FPL. Monday 5 – Sunday 11 October International break. Nothing much exciting happened. The highlight was discovering a new love for Elvis. I’ve never been much of a fan but he appeared on a playlist and I loved it. Another sign of age maybe. I sold Sterling and bought Son for obvious reasons plus everyone said Son’s price would be rising, so may as well jump on...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Diary 2020/21 Dangerous Liaisons, Wildcard woes and a donkey You may remember in my first diary entry that my season hadn’t started well with a paltry 40pts in game-week 1. But there’s a long way to go. As you are all aware FPL brings its own hurdles and problems along the way, some of them are self-inflicted, seemingly most of mine. Tuesday 15 September Took the kids to the park round the back of Morrisons while Mrs went shopping. Approached by a lady on a bike who asked if she could take a video of me playing football with the kids. Either a weirdo or a scout. Rather taken aback I gave permission. She asked for my number so she could send me the video and she put me in her phone as ‘Park Dude’. Luckily she disappeared before said Mrs returned. Thursday 17 September Recei...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Diary 2020/21 ‘It’s only GW1, son’. So much has happened since I last put pen to paper. To give you some background, I am a distinctly average FPL manager who seemingly fails to learn from his mistakes, but on the flip side I try not to take the game too seriously, I love a punt and have been known to captain full-backs too many times. From a personal point of view I am happily married with five children, 3 from my current, 2 from my Welsh ex. We live just outside Bath where we relocated to after a fun eleven years in sunnier climes was suddenly brought to a crashing halt due to work blowing up leaving us penniless and having to live with the in-laws for what can only be described as the worst five months of my life. We now live in the same village as the outlaws, but a fe...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Diary – GW’s 24 – 26. Welcome to Fantasy Football Diary. While it’s not been so long since my last diary entry, quite a lot has happened as you will read below, if you can stay awake! From a FPL point of view there has been, as you would expect, good, bad and comical and the odd capo faux pas! From a personal point of view, most of you will be glad to know that things have taken a turn for the better. I hope you enjoy the read – or at least it alleviates some of the boredom that a blank week ahead brings! Onwards & upwards. Game-week 24 A midweek game-week can be fun or frustrating, quite often both. For me right now midweek means away from the family, generally kipping round a mate’s house, either in Bedford or Essex. This week bot...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Diary – GWs 9-12 Hello everyone, only me with my dreary FPL ramblings, my walk through the valley of the shadow of death at the in-laws and my continued search for meaningful employment. Or any employment for that matter! To cut a ridiculously long article short, we’re still with the in-laws where we have bad days and really bad days, I’m still looking for work although things do appear to be happening and I’ve had a decent four weeks FPL-wise. All will be revealed if you can stay awake reading the 4-week run through below! For those who suffer with insomnia….. thank me when you wake up. Game-week 9 The lead up to GW9 was fairly dull again from an FPL point of view – my transfer target was Mitrovic who was entering 3 decent looking weeks...[Read More]
