Welcome to FPL Live Match Chat Gameweek 5

Hello everyone and welcome to the gameweek AND the second FNF (Friday Night Football) of the season!

Shortly we begin with Newcastle United v Leeds United which our very own Rosco will be attending assuming he is still allowed onto the Gallowgate following his questionable behaviour surrounding CR7 and his ‘beloved’ Toon last Saturday. Kidding, that man is a pro and he had his FPL business head on and let’s face it, until Newcastle are taken over we’re all allowed to be fed up by the Geordies!

Saturday starts with Wolves v Brentford at lunchtime which will hopefully be a good watch as warm up to four 3pm kick offs with Burnley *cough* welcoming Arteta’s Arsenal to Turf Moor, Liverpool playing Palace at Anfield, Manchester City hosting Southampton at Eastlands and Watford officially being able to use their away kit correctly as they head to East Anglia to tangle with Norwich.

Aston Villa v Everton should make for a decent game on Saturday at 5.30pm.

Due to European involvement we have the three Thursday teams playing on Sunday this week and in fact, they will be for a number of their weekends until December – they had better get used to it!

Firstly, at 2pm we’re at the Amex Stadium as Brighton entertain Leicester fresh from them facing Napoli whilst simultaneously, West Ham United – who will have been in Croatia – come home to face Ronaldo, Bruno, Mason etc etc etc. Tough.

At 4.30pm, Europa Conference League flag-bearers Spurs hop back from across the channel having played Rennes, come home to face Lukaku, Havertz, Mount etc etc etc. Double Tough.

The games in full…

Keep track of all the action, the goals, the talking points, right here at FF247 Live Match Chat, an interactive chat which encourages you to keep involved and share your thoughts and emotions as the matches take place.

Good luck to absolutely everyone for Gameweek 5 from all at FF247!

Thanks for reading FPL Live Match Chat Gameweek 5.

  1. Hello folks, hope you had a good GW. 2nd consecutive red arrow for me. laugh

2FT, 0.1ITB. I plan to use 1FT and roll the other. Any ideas on what to use it on?

    • HI LRL, I would be using a FT to bring in a Chelsea defender

    • You could wait for tomorrow (you may have more ITB) and do Amartey to Duffy only!

    • Hmm well Wolves can’t score to save their lives and Leeds couldn’t defend their goal if they were playing 11 to 1 so there’s that smile

    • Wait for injury news on Raphina,if fit losing Ayling is probably your priority Red.

      • Agree. Maybe an Arsenal defender.

Else maybe Jimenez to …anything really? laugh

        • Agree…Jimi out. He is not looking good poor fella. Unless Raph injured, then him out for maybe Gallagher?

    • Something boring like Ayling to White or move Jimenez on

    • How about Jimenez and Ayling to Rudiger and Toney?

    • I wouldn’t sell Jimmy just yet. A bit boring but wait for injury updates and deal with them if necessary.

  2. Man City and Chelsea both piling on the clean sheets. Going bigger at the back and loading up with a few of Christensen, Rudiger, Cancelo and Dias along with TAA could be great. Would certainly be compromises elsewhere, but it’s hard to ignore that there are consistant points on offer there.

    • Four at the back definitely with maybe a cheapie who could come in as/when. I’m thinking of doubling on the Chelsea defence from GW7. City have a couple of tricky fixtures to negotiate first.

    • Yeah I quite like this I must admit. I also think White and Livramento are good value

  3. I’ve got Tsimikas, TAA, Shaw, Duffy and Ayling at the back. Is it worth keeping Shaw, Utd seem to concede in most games these days ? Got 1ft and zilch itb, does Shaw to Rudiger seem logical at this point in time ?

    • Might be a week early but yes I’d say. Good swap when you look at the fixtures. Maybe wait on news for Ayling and TAA if possible.

    • I’d keep Shaw for GW6 then make your move prior to GW7. Thinking similar thoughts myself.

    • I would wait a week unless you will be priced out.

      • Although I would add, do you think Ayling, Duffy or Tsim will play? You may be short?

    • I think Tsimikas and Ayling are bigger priorities

  4. That Noble penalty miss was a literal heart break.

    • Good break for Man U though, ground one out there, as they say.

  5. I dont understand ff!!

I played a 5-3-2 formation this weekend – a defender didnt play, neither did a striker.

I had 2 midfielders on my bench – 1st and 2nd, but none have come in as auto subs.

    Whats going on!!!

    • Give it the overnight hammerfan. My autosubs haven’t been processed yet either

      • Ah ok. I know some in my league have done – so thought it was gonna screw me over.

    • I think you need to wait after last game which is tomorrow.

      • last game was this afternoon – spurs v chelski!!

        • Sorry I got it wrong, you are right, will be added overnight.

    • Takes time for all team’s autosubs to kick in, mine are still waiting. Take a look in the morning.

  6. Great game week for me. 75 points and a go to top of my private leagues with my mates. 47 in the regulars league is pretty respectable as well and I keep my unbeaten record in the FF247 head to head league.

I’m contemplating a wild card after this game week but will reassess once the next games are played. More to get a jump on teams rather to fix too many problems in mine. There is just a lot of good fixtures that turn now.

I was thinking this week moving for either Duffy or Livramento in for Amartey this week. Livramento is who I was thinking the most. Thoughts? Cheers!

    • I’d go for Duffy mate. Have you seen Brentfords next few games ? If you don’t use your WC your stuck with Livramento.

      • Livramento plays for Southampton not Brentford though mate. And I think Southampton might have better fixtures than Brighton in the future. They both have some hard ones coming up but Southampton has a very nice run after GW 8.

        • I also think Duffy is going to be used as a rotation more than Livramento would be. He’s playing really well atm so I am not sure if he will get benched just yet but I know Livramento is nailed.

      • Oops, sorry.

    • Also talk of Livra being used higher up the pitch in midfield, so a bit of excitement about a cheap OOP player.

      • I have heard he was quite an attacking asset at the Chelsea academy so I wouldn’t be surprised if he starts getting more attacking returns.

        • Yeah he is. Been very unlucky not to get an attacking return this season too. One will be on its way soon

    • Exactly the move I’m planning this GW (getting Livramento), though could have a couple of injury headaches. If you don’t wildcard then the dreck from GW1 tends to stick around a bit so now’s a good time to tidy up.

Don’t know about you but Toney’s exploits made me smile this GW. Regular readers will know that I never doubted him for a second.

      • Yep I’m a bit annoyed I got rid myself. Rudiger was the move I should have made. Oh well

        • Me too – I got James in. Should have played it safe. Oh well x 2. At least White is doing what we hoped he’d do.

I came really close to moving Toney on but decided to leave Lukaku until after the City game.

At the end of the season Toney may end up with a reasonably good total for a 6.5 player. Pretty grim fixtures up ahead, however.

        • Yeah probably. Think I just sold him a week early as like you say fixtures are pretty horrible now. It’s not like I rated Wolves anyway.
