Fantasy Football 247 Site Team Gameweek 22

Welcome to the Fantasy Football 247 Site Team Gameweek 22 article. After 2 weeks of relying on Phillips and Defoe boosting us up the rankings we are pleased to report that the other 9 finally woke up too this week! Well ok, 7 of them did, but we’ll take it. We ended up on a fairly respectable 80 points which meant another small climb in the rankings and we now sit at 24,291. Cech and Holebas brought us clean sheets whilst Walker brought us that and more. Erik came home with his usual array of assists and all 3 of our forwards scored. Captain Sanchez was looking decidedly dodgy until a late goal suddenly transformed his score from a lacklustre 6 to a splendid 22. Fine margins. We should point out that we said last week that we were saving our transfer but then Costa happened late on Friday evening and we reacted by buying Giroud. That leaves us back on just 1 free transfer this week, let’s take a look at how we decided to use it this week…

Transfer for GW22 – Sold  & Bought – Nobody!
“Now we know this doesn’t make for a very exciting article but sometimes that’s just the way it lands, deal with it! Actually a decision to do nothing is still a decision and has it’s merits just as much, and sometimes more, than a reckless but seemingly more exciting -8 or whatever…. Let’s roll with it and enjoy fighting over where our two free transfers are used next week”.

Yeah ok we wrote that last week too and then scrapped it when it emerged late on that Costa’s agent may or may not have taken a call from China which may or may not have resulted in a sudden back spasm. But it still stands and we sort of didn’t use it, so… Anyway it all resulted in Giroud coming in and we have resisted the temptation to simply reverse the decision. Had Giroud not been confirmed as entirely fit, or had a less favourable fixture, we probably would have done so but we have decided to roll with him for this round. It helps that he also has a better fixture next week with Watford at home as opposed to Costa going to Liverpool. The pair play each other the week after whereas Kane has ‘Boro at home and the 2 free transfers may help us when that comes around.

THE NEW TEAM IN FULL FOR GW 22

Our Captain is Alexis Sanchez
Given our disturbing lack of Chelsea coverage this week the next obvious stop was Arsenal. We can’t trust Giroud to finish a game whereas Sanchez is furious if he doesn’t so that hunger lead us to captain him this week. Zlatan is our vice if the worst was to happen.

If anyone is interested in following the site teams progress then you can do so here and we wish you all the best of luck this week with your own teams.

Site Team is live for GW22.

4 green arrows in a row now has seen us go from 64k to 24k. Now if my math is correct and we continue on that trend we will be top in 2 weeks… laugh

Mitro if you’re still about… I’m keeping Giroud. I want Costa but looking at an overall plan ahead of GW24 it makes more sense to keep him for me. Stan comes in this week for Siggy. That’s a very boring and funds based transfer which I’d rather not do but it’s done. Plan is then to keep the FT midweek next time and move for Kane and Kun in 24. In theory….

Hi guys! I feel like it has been a season long. Being a dad for the first time has taken it’s toll on me, financially and fantasically. As my baby isn’t willing to share his insight with me yet, eventhough i strongly believe he has the answers, I hope I could find some answers here.

    1. Is Giroud going to continue at the front?
    2. Should I ditch Barragan? I could have gained 12 more points if I have taken another BORO defender
    3. Should I take in Phil Cout now? At the expense of Lallana?
    4. Any other advice would be appreciated

      1. If he stays fit – probably yes…form and fixtures are great…
      2. probably yes…the other areas of your team look solid, so if you are bored…you can work on that…
      3. I would give him a game or to more, tbh…but that’s me…
      4. CONGRATS on becoming a dad 😉 !!

      Cheers!

Congratulations Shawn. A true miracle, well deserved I am sure. However, now for you the hard work starts. The lady deserves some rest. :p

Thanks guys. Joe was born 1 and a half month ago and coincidentally that was when the red arrows started striking real hard

      • inittowinit says:

In my experience that will continue for about 2 more years at least!

      • DMC says:

Shawn, when you come back from the last diaper changing, here are my thoughts on your queries:
        1. Is Giroud going to continue at the front?
        No reason not to.
        2. Should I ditch Barragan? I could have gained 12 more points if I have taken another BORO defender.
Sell the bastard. Get Yoshida, or Chambers for a well-planned sideways move.
        3. Should I take in Phil Cout now? At the expense of Lallana?
I debated this myself – not necessarily for Lallana, but for Miki – but liverpool’s next 3 in 5 are tough ones so it would have to be for a one week punt which is not the move I like to do for someone like him, in the sense that someone like Coutinho you want to ride out for a few games, if that makes sense. Anyway, keep Lallana in there for this one (and probably the rest of the season depending on the price you paid for him) and reassess. Your mids look great tbh.
        4. Any other advice would be appreciated
4.1 Play Walker ahead of any of your other defenders, including Phil Jones (this is me acknowledging that he is in fact a defender).
4.2 Congratulations on your fatherhood, it is indeed a miracle. First weeks are tough FPL wise (and everything else wise) but you will find that late night transfer in / capo decisions are better than early saturday ones! Where in doubt, ask cookie!

      NZ Alex says:

Alright DMC? Yup, good to go i’d say.

      • DMC says:

All fine NZ, you? Cheers mate let’s hope for the best!

        • NZ Alex says:

Not bad at all thanks DMC, life and time difference seems to keep me away from here which is a shame. I will be trying to get back on more. Expecting number 3 soon and building a new house so flat out.

As for FPL, bloody terrible! So bad in fact I’ve gone 3-5-2 for the first time ever!

        • DMC says:

Ahah I hear you on the 3-5-2 mate but there are many ways to play this game. My record this season isn’t great but it’s not awful either (I’ve been in and out top 100k for the last 8 GW and I’m on 3-5-2 since my GW4 WC! And I played Bony and Slimani back then! You are mere 40 pts-ish from 100 k while building a house and preparing for a third! Legend! smile

        • NZ Alex says:

Haha cheers for the pep talk DMC, much needed! 40 points of 100K isn’t too bad when put like that, one good week and its onnn! I sold Kun this week and have been panicking ever since!

        • NZ Alex says:

Here’s the new and improved ‘spot the ball’ team!

        • DMC says:

100 K front seven all the way mate. Best of luck for this gw!

      constantine says:

Good team there DMC.. I’d play Williams in place of Shawcross as he’s against ibra.

      • DMC says:

        Cheers Constantine.
Yeah I see your point of view. If I’m sure ManUtd scores, no point for Shawcross (unless I fancy his goalscoring abilities, which I do), but on the other hand if Utd blank – which they better not, since I also have Miki – I still get a CS. A 0-0 gives me two CS with DDG in there.
Williams though most surely won’t get a cleanie, or will he?
He’d come in any way for Nyom whom I suspect to have been eaten by lions if not Cameroonians.
        Thanks mate, you all set?

        • NZ Alex says:

DMC, Nom has been cleared to play for Brom this weekend 😉

        • DMC says:

I’m aware of that NZ. Whether that means he goes straight into the line up though remains to be seen.

        • NZ Alex says:

I would think so, generally they seem to have played better with him in the team this year.

        • constantine says:

DMC..There’s every chance of Everton getting a CS against CP. 3 cleansheets of last 4 matches, shows that they are tightening up the def. OTOH, I see Utd scoring atleast two against stoke and not conceding. I’m not discarding Shawcross’ attacking skills, but Utd do not concede many.
I’m still to make some transfers. Not sure what to do..Allen is a problem along with Amat, Baines(if he doesnt start), Barry and Gametime of Giroud.

      db says:

Great looking team ATF, although you seem to have a lot riding on 3 games – I like diversification, so would consider bringing in Defoe for Firmino

      • Anti Top Four says:

Fair point. Diversification is agood, safe strategy for investment portfolios, Vegas dealers and the like. I tend to be a bit riskier 😉 I have a feeling Costa won’t start but he might come off the bench. Hence, I’m thinking of benching him. Cheers and best wishes wi/your lot this week.

        • db says:

Haha yeah, very perceptive been doing a lot of diversifying this last week with the Trump inauguration, I’m also heavily invested in rolls-Royce so diversification came into play upon the news of bribery as well. I guess it’s just transferring to fpl now. I’ve often wondered if I withdrew everything and went to Vegas and put say 100 bucks on black 5 then 200 on the same then 400 and so on would I be better off when finally came in!
