Fantasy Football FF247 Team Game-week 3

FF247 team GW3“The good news, we shouldn’t see a red arrow until the New Year.” Well said FF247, well said. Why do we bring that remark up? Well, doing worse was actually possible. That’s right we managed a red arrow after scoring a shocking 19 points this week. We are now only 40K spots away from the magical 3 million overall position. As we now stand in 2,960,600. The good news is that we shouldn’t see a red arrow until the New Year…or next week, whatever comes first. Alright now let’s have a quick rundown of the fantastic XI who underwhelmed us.

In goal we went with no one. Oh well, at least our keeper didn’t disappoint us. Last week we decided to save the transfer and with Courtois being red carded the previous game, we were left with no keeper. We did throw Hennessey out there just in case he had a heart, but don’t think he even noticed.

After scoring 5 points with our defence in GW1, we were due. Due another kick in the balls that is. As our boys only managed 3 points this week. Things are so bad in the back, that even Dick Advocaat would be ashamed to use them at Sunderland.

Just like GW1, our highest scoring mid was Raheem Sterling. Repeating his total of 3 points. You know what, we can’t be mad at that, even if City are scoring for fun and the other mids of consequence are involved in the points. No one is mad, no one. Hazard continues to punish us with his big wages and low output. Mane and Cazorla, whatever.

Our forwards all scored 2. Two points that is. Our jailbird Sakho continues to prove that we placed our eyes on the wrong Hammer. While our captain Rooney didn’t manage a shot in his game vs Vlla. Really? Not even a shot? The year of Rooney some said…right. Luckily Defoe shoots on contact, let us go check the stats. It says he also had no shots, ain’t that some shite!

Well now onto our transfer plans and starting XI. Which should serve you all as a warning. 😉

Transfer(s) for GW3-……..

Sold: Rooney, Hazard & Cazorla
Bought: Aguero, Sanchez & Mahrez

Yes, we’ve taken a hit. Desperate times call for desperate measures and having seen our ranking we’re sure you’ll agree that these are desperate times!

When we picked our initial squad ahead of GW1 the plan was always to replace Rooney with Aguero for either GW3 or GW4, however we didn’t foresee ourselves selling Eden Hazard to fund the deal. Let’s briefly take a look at those whom we have sold. Chelsea’s form in their first two games has been something of a surprise and while we fully expect Hazard to be back in our squad at some stage over the course of the season, so far he has not looked like an £11.5m player in the opening games. Santi Cazorla had quite a good game last weekend against Palace but he never looked like picking up any fantasy points as both he and Ramsey alternated in the double pivot position beside Coquelin. Wayne Rooney has been the biggest disappointment of the three. We had high hopes for Wayne this season but United as a team just don’t look like scoring many goals! Of course any of the three could bite us in the arse, but it’s a chance we’re willing to take.

For us the purchase of Aguero is a no brainer. We watched City’s game against Chelsea from behind the couch, but we saw enough to suggest to get him in this week. A 100% Aguero would have had a hat-trick and with his fitness nearing 100% the goals are bound to start flowing. Just like Aguero, Sanchez isn’t 100% fit, but as we saw against Palace last weekend he will once again be Arsenal’s main man, and while there will be an element of rotation in the Arsenal midfield this season the Chilean will start the vast majority of games. Despite his electric start to the season there is still an element of risk with Riyad Mahrez, simply because he plays for Leicester! However at his current price he’s too good to ignore and it leaves us with money in the bank which will give us some flexibility over the coming game-weeks.

Our team in full…

Team Selection
The team pretty much picked itself this week. With Courtois returning from suspension it means we will be able to field XI players this week! Given Sunderland’s current form Coates wasn’t considered while there are doubts surrounding Oxford’s fitness meaning he joins Coates on the bench. Joining them on the bench this week is James Milner. Liverpool don’t look like a team who are going to score many goals and with Milner playing quite deep it makes sense to bench him for a game in which Liverpool will hope to keep things tight.

Hey guys, I have WC and I am quite happy with this team. I have 0itb and the only thing I am considering is whether to get –
    1) Kolarov and Payet
    2) Muniesa and Toure/Mata/Depay

    Thoughts?

      Hi Nosaj,

You already have Aguero and Silva to cover the City attack, so Toure would be a bit too much I think.

I have personally sticked with Depay as I believe he will hit the ground running soon, but you never know… Maybe leave it as it is.

Who do you plan to play on goal this week and as a 3rd defender (I presume Kolarov and Cedric will be played)?

      • Nosaj says:

Yeah, I guess that makes sense. I’m not too sure on Depay so I think I’m going to wait until I see how he performs over the next couple of GW’s.

However, I’m actually not sure who I’m going to play down back and in goal this week. I guess Guzan needs to be played this week because of Myhill’s tough fixture, and obviously Kolarov and Cedric will be played. This leaves Gomez and Francis who both have difficult fixtures, and Richards, but I wouldn’t really want to play double Villa at the back. So thoughts on which defender out of Richards, Gomez and Francis to play in this instance? Because I have no idea who to play ahaha, such a tight call!

Could you free enough funds in the defense to bring in Tekkers? I’d probably opt for Ayew over Chadli. Overall, strong team, imo. Best wishes.

How’s my team? Kept money in the bank for aguero although I don’t know if I should use him for this week instead of pelle? Then buy pelle back for gomis next week?

Any advice, suggestions, constructive criticism for the following? (2 FT in hand, 1.0 in the vault and self-restrictions apply):

    Butland
    Cresswell Coleman Fonte
    Siggy Payet Mane Chadli
    Kane Lukaku Tekkers

    Henessey Henderson Clyne Alderweild

Bring in McCarthy as GK? Shaqiri?

    Much appreciated!

      TheDreamers says:

McCarthy not worth bringing in as Speroni is close enough to a return. Dont like Coleman v City. How about a Swanses player – Williams, Aweu or Gomis over Coleman, Siggy or Lukaku or Kane?

Shaquiri suppposed to be flying fit so he is an option too

      Calvin Clyne says:

Hi ATF, I’m really tempted by a punt on Shaqiri now, so with your restrictions I’m not sure I could resist it! But it’s probably sensible to wait and see how he gets on initially.

You could definitely do worse than swapping WBA keepers if you’ve got nothing else pressing with your FT.

I’d also consider Gomis for Lukaku.

      • Anti Top Four says:

I was going to do Gomis for Lukaku last week. Instead, left 24 points on the bench with him and Coleman…Shaqiri, Ayew, Pele all on my radar.

        • Calvin Clyne says:

That’s the Lukaku curse right there! Either play him every week and get the big points when they come but also suffer through the doldrums or just get a lucky batch of points and quit while you’re ahead! I just can’t own the man.

Saw you advise someone else on Ayew over Chadli, so there’s another option for you.

    Hi guys,
Any suggestions on the team, brought in mahrez + aguero for Rooney + sterling. Thinking about hazard>Sanchez+ 4pt hit however don’t think it is worth it this week so likely to hold it for now. Thanks

      AT says:

Morning james, mine is only sticking its head above £100m because of having Mahrez early on but, as always at the start of a new season, the newcomers to fantasy ship out players as soon as they draw a blank. It will settle down and your team value will increase.
