Fantasy Football FF247 Team Game-week 3

FF247 team GW3“The good news, we shouldn’t see a red arrow until the New Year.” Well said FF247, well said. Why do we bring that remark up? Well, doing worse was actually possible. That’s right we managed a red arrow after scoring a shocking 19 points this week. We are now only 40K spots away from the magical 3 million overall position. As we now stand in 2,960,600. The good news is that we shouldn’t see a red arrow until the New Year…or next week, whatever comes first. Alright now let’s have a quick rundown of the fantastic XI who underwhelmed us.

In goal we went with no one. Oh well, at least our keeper didn’t disappoint us. Last week we decided to save the transfer and with Courtois being red carded the previous game, we were left with no keeper. We did throw Hennessey out there just in case he had a heart, but don’t think he even noticed.

After scoring 5 points with our defence in GW1, we were due. Due another kick in the balls that is. As our boys only managed 3 points this week. Things are so bad in the back, that even Dick Advocaat would be ashamed to use them at Sunderland.

Just like GW1, our highest scoring mid was Raheem Sterling. Repeating his total of 3 points. You know what, we can’t be mad at that, even if City are scoring for fun and the other mids of consequence are involved in the points. No one is mad, no one. Hazard continues to punish us with his big wages and low output. Mane and Cazorla, whatever.

Our forwards all scored 2. Two points that is. Our jailbird Sakho continues to prove that we placed our eyes on the wrong Hammer. While our captain Rooney didn’t manage a shot in his game vs Vlla. Really? Not even a shot? The year of Rooney some said…right. Luckily Defoe shoots on contact, let us go check the stats. It says he also had no shots, ain’t that some shite!

Well now onto our transfer plans and starting XI. Which should serve you all as a warning. 😉

Transfer(s) for GW3-……..

Sold: Rooney, Hazard & Cazorla
Bought: Aguero, Sanchez & Mahrez

Yes, we’ve taken a hit. Desperate times call for desperate measures and having seen our ranking we’re sure you’ll agree that these are desperate times!

When we picked our initial squad ahead of GW1 the plan was always to replace Rooney with Aguero for either GW3 or GW4, however we didn’t foresee ourselves selling Eden Hazard to fund the deal. Let’s briefly take a look at those whom we have sold. Chelsea’s form in their first two games has been something of a surprise and while we fully expect Hazard to be back in our squad at some stage over the course of the season, so far he has not looked like an £11.5m player in the opening games. Santi Cazorla had quite a good game last weekend against Palace but he never looked like picking up any fantasy points as both he and Ramsey alternated in the double pivot position beside Coquelin. Wayne Rooney has been the biggest disappointment of the three. We had high hopes for Wayne this season but United as a team just don’t look like scoring many goals! Of course any of the three could bite us in the arse, but it’s a chance we’re willing to take.

For us the purchase of Aguero is a no brainer. We watched City’s game against Chelsea from behind the couch, but we saw enough to suggest to get him in this week. A 100% Aguero would have had a hat-trick and with his fitness nearing 100% the goals are bound to start flowing. Just like Aguero, Sanchez isn’t 100% fit, but as we saw against Palace last weekend he will once again be Arsenal’s main man, and while there will be an element of rotation in the Arsenal midfield this season the Chilean will start the vast majority of games. Despite his electric start to the season there is still an element of risk with Riyad Mahrez, simply because he plays for Leicester! However at his current price he’s too good to ignore and it leaves us with money in the bank which will give us some flexibility over the coming game-weeks.

Our team in full…

Team Selection
The team pretty much picked itself this week. With Courtois returning from suspension it means we will be able to field XI players this week! Given Sunderland’s current form Coates wasn’t considered while there are doubts surrounding Oxford’s fitness meaning he joins Coates on the bench. Joining them on the bench this week is James Milner. Liverpool don’t look like a team who are going to score many goals and with Milner playing quite deep it makes sense to bench him for a game in which Liverpool will hope to keep things tight.

Captain

Our captain this week is Sergio Aguero

Our vice-captain is Alexis Sanchez

Anyone out there (including you, Mr Mourinho) think Pedro will get a decent run-out this weekend?

Morning all, appreciate that many of you are on Wildcards this week and anxious to have views on your new look squad so just looking for final thoughts on my team.

0FT, nothing in the bank but would be open to a hit if it looks worth it.

Toying between my front three for capo..Pelle has frustrated me with his yellow cards in the last two weeks but he has looked very good and should have had a couple last weekend. Alternatively, Aguero. Enough said. Sakho is obviously an option but Bournemouth haven’t conceded more than 1 in each game yet so can’t see it being a goal fest. Opinions appreciated.

Done my WC. Going out for the day. Hopefully there will be lots of points on the board when I come home.
    Good luck everyone!!

    Morning!
Have 2FTs to spend this GW before I wildcard next week. Haven’t decided which option to choose.
    1) Benteke and hazard >> Aguero and Mahrez
    2) Rooney and Walcott >> Aguero and mahrez
Option 2 was what I was leaning towards, but this is probably the game to keep Rooney for…
Thanks in advance for the help!

Looks good but I’d be downgrading coates or huth or both to 4m defenders and upgrading elsewhere

      • B-Bash says:

        Morning Veer.
Well done for keeping your 2ft’s till now! The way I see your predicament is to prioritise the team. You have 2 ft’s, but you don’t have to use them. Sunderland have been rank at the back, but you can still field a decent back 3 and stick Coates on the bench. Rooney has remained in many teams, including mine, due to the fixture, so I can see your reluctance to sell. Walcott, on the other hand is now become an fpl pain and I see him as this week’s fall guy! If your willing to hold Rooney, I would just use 1ft and do Walcott to a good mid with a good fixture, ie, Depay or Mata. Then next week, ditch Rooney and a mid for Kun and Mahrez

Wildcard is in play , any more changes I should make ? I’m thinking defence needs a bit more

Okay last few things to decide on wildcard team. I’ve heard Hoolahan might be rested soon, would you downgrade him to a 4.5 million mid and upgrade keeper, downgrade cedric to a 4.5 and upgrade Hoolahan, or Downgrade both and upgrade Keeper ? Any thoughts appreciated smile

      B-Bash says:

Duthers, you have a full on attacking 8. Benching will be a pain between Hoolahan/Mahrez and a forward. I would ditch Hoolahan to a 4.5 and use it elsewhere mate

      • RedVT says:

Morning B-Bash. Cost issue aside, do you think Hoolahan is likely to continue starting and seeing regular minutes most weeks? I would think so with his form but now I’m nervous, ha!

        • B-Bash says:

Hello RedVT. It’s expected that Hoolahan will keep his place, certainly for the time being.

        • RedVT says:

Thanks for the reassurance Bash. I like the idea of having a 5th midfielder that I can play occasionally who isn’t complete pants, but he needs to be pretty nailed obviously. How are you set for today, did you make any exciting moves this week?

        • B-Bash says:

I am set mate. Wildcard still in place. I only wanted to use 1ft, but got all carried away with a bottle of red 😉
Brought in Silva for Haz and Mata for Hendo.
I want to captain Mata, but it scares me a little when I have Kun.
          Thoughts please?

        • RedVT says:

Well, at least you’ve still got your WC Bash! I usually like differential captains, they can gain you some serious ground when they work out, but it cuts both ways when they don’t! I’d say go with your gut and United do have a pretty sweet fixture. It’s tough to bet against Kun though! Sorry that’s not much help, but I don’t like to influence people on captain’s picks too much as it’s a more personal call than most. I’m going with Kun myself.

Quick WC question for you if you have another moment, I have the funds to get Silva in for Yaya in my WC team, but I’ve got some good value built up in Yaya. I want Silva long term I think, but haven’t put him in my team yet. Should I bank the 1.5 and see how they both do today, or just get Silva now and be done with it so I don’t need to use a FT next week or soon when I inevitably want him? Any advice on that?

        • B-Bash says:

I would stick with Yaya for the moment. He is in form and his price keeps increasing

        • B-Bash says:

And thanks for the Capo advice too matey! smile
I haven’t got the minerals just yet to take it off Kun! If Mata does well, I think he’s almost a differential anyway

        • RedVT says:

Nice one Basher, good luck today! Last one before deadline, would you play Myhill at home to a lackluster Chelsea, or Guzan away to a semi in-form Palace? I’ve currently got Myhill starting for the likely save points, but neither fixture looks ideal!

        • B-Bash says:

Sorry Red! Had to shower as I’m out on the lash in Manchester today on a stag do! Good luck for today! smile

        • RedVT says:

No worries at all B-Bash, have a great time out with the gang! Best of luck this weekend, hope it’s green arrows for us all! smile

      • duthers says:

        B-Bash
Taken in Obertan, as long as he starts you never know, he will mainly be on my bench anyway. Where would you spend the extra .5, defense? Not sure on Cedric, Saint’s ain’t looked great defensively. Could take a punt on Mert?

        • B-Bash says:

I agree mate, Saints are not the same at the back this season, but he does carry an attacking threat, so I would probably keep the faith for the time being

    • 48.2
      RedVT says:

Where did you hear that Duthers? I have him in my WC team currently. I know the manager said that he’ll be careful with him over the season since he’s 33, hence taking him off after 61 minutes when they were up by 3 goals. But he’s still pretty nailed to start most matches I hope. Anyone else have an opinion on this?

      • duthers says:

Going off someone saying that last season after a few weeks he began to be rotated, but as he’s playing so well i don’t see how he could be benched.

        • RedVT says:

I hope he keeps his place, he’s the perfect 5th mid for me. I could stretch to Redmond but that would definitely be too much money to feel good about benching and more of a selection headache. As of now I’ll plan to start Diouf most weeks and have Hoolahan as first sub unless Diouf has a really tough match.
