Fantasy Football FF247 Team Gameweek 31
Our slow methodical climb back into the top 1K continues. With our third straight green arrow on the bounce, we managed to move into 1740th place in the overall. This was a jump of 782 spots for us after a score of 91 for the week. Nice little move there, now let’s have a quick review on how it is it came about before we move onto our team for double game-week 31.
In goal once again we went with Ospina, not like we had much of a choice with Foster injured. Frustratingly though Arsenal conceded once again, making that 4 out of the last 6 where they gave up just one goal. In our backline we went with the ever trustworthy Terry. With Chelsea visiting Hull this looked like an easy opportunity for some clean sheet points. Frustratingly though Chelsea conceded once again, hmmmm, that sounds familiar. Oh well you can’t win them all I guess, probably feels similar to how John Terry feels when he strikes out with a mate’s wife. Well enough about them two big club players and their lack of production. Onto our pride and joy in the back, double Saints defenders. We decided to take a bit of a chance with a double up and 17 points later the tandem of Clyne and Alderweireld had delivered for us. With decent fixtures upcoming we hope our Southampton duo continue to show their worth.
In a great scoring week, we obviously needed our mids to score for fun. This week they didn’t disappoint us and all delivered either with an assist or a goal. Silva and Hazard both scored 9 for us, each powered by grabbing a goal. While our two other mids Eriksen and Caz each grabbed an assist, scoring 5 and 6 respectively. No real need to say much more, no need to jinx it.
Up top we have our high priced striker Sergio Aguero. That is three straight games with 2 points for the mighty Argentinian. Not sure how much longer we can continue to pay a premium price for average to bad returns. Fortunately though we have the HurriKane picking up the slack. Not only did he deliver a hat-trick, but it was doubled because he happened to be our captain. There could have been a better value player in the past, but I sure as heck can’t remember it. In the other striker slot we have a poor man’s Kane in Charlie Austin. Austin was able to grab 5 points and while no major haul, that is the same Kun has managed in the last 2 games and a half. Ok enough about the week that was, let us move along to our plans for this game-week.
Transfer(s) for GW31 – Sold Foster bought Myhill
Not the most glamorous of transfers but a sensible one never the less. With few other pressing issues to attend to and the DGW itself not exactly screaming out to be covered any more than we already have, in the shape of Austin, we decided now was a good time to fix an impending goalkeeper issue. Our other keeper is Ospina of Arsenal which would have meant us having to fix this at some point prior to GW33 as we would have had no keeper for that week. Davis of Southampton was an option but we already have two Saints defenders. Given West Brom’s good recent home form and their next two being at the Hawthorns we decided to try and take full advantage of this in the short term at least and so we bought Foster’s replacement Boaz Myhill.

The team pretty much picked itself this week with little or no debate over any of the line-up.
Captain
Our captain this week is Harry Kane
Whilst the team picked itself the captaincy issue split opinion to say the least! For possibly the first time this season we had no majority pick. The voting was split fairly evenly amongst Kane, Aguero and Austin. Cups of tea were thrown and tears were shed. After one of the longest and most violent debates ever the white smoke emerged and Harry Kane stepped forth.

We didn’t even bother debating this, we had nothing left to give.

Hey Cookie! My brother is coming home from Boston so my wife and I are hosting a ham dinner at our place for him, our parents, and my aunt and uncle. Trying to time things so we’re wrapped up in time for the City match, but that may be wishful thinking! Luckily I’ve got my own TV in the office so I’ll be able to keep up at least.
How about you mate, what are your plans? A spiral cut ham with mashed potatoes, veggies, and dessert is our Easter tradition, what do you guys usually have?

Roast lamb for us sir, roast potatoes and if I get my way, they’ll be some Yorkshire puddings too!! We fly over to the UK tomorrow to see my wife’s parents and brother, who live in Bath. Looking forward to a change of scenery to be honest. I fly back here on Monday and leave my Mrs and son over there for the week, so I may get some sleep next week!!

Would you stick with double Soton v Everton or bring in PvA for Toby and go double Sunderland v The Toon or even bring Baird in for Toby for WBA v QPR and take a chance on him playing ?
I would put Baird in with Toby second and PvA third. Tough call though elle!
Elle I’m not sure mate as I have a similar predicament and I can’t decide!!! Plus I always get these things wrong.
My gut however, says Everton have a better chance of scoring than Newcastle – so I’m inclined to say go with Pants and PVA and bench Toby. Baird is too much of a risk for me – if he plays, great. But if he doesn’t start and comes off the bench for a 1pter that’s a bummer. So I’d go with a definite starter mate.
Cheers matey, now time for me to ponder my midfield, Sanchez to Haz is easy, its wether to get Mata/Fellani in for Eriksen.
I would go with United Elle – in great form whereas Eriksen is so inconsistent.

Mata if you can afford him, otherwise Mop. Depends on your future plans and budget required.
Cookie, its only for a week, Mata is affordable but will become Judas next week v The Toon. Then after that it depends what happens to us in the cup, lose Judas stays v Hull and Caz will be out, win then i’ll have to decide which to bin, depending on fixtures.

Hey swirly. Clichy, Caz and Monreal are the players I’d look to sort out in the short term.
I think Puncheon is a bit expensive as a 5th mid too but it’s good cover I guess.
Chelsea defence could be the order of the day. The rest all looks solid. :thumbup:
Which players in particular are you planning towards? Costa?
Hey James – yeah, I’m looking to cheapening my defence with Clichy and Monreal probably being the sacrifices. Both would be done from next gameweek, though as I’m not convinced with Man City’s or Arsenal’s clean sheet potential there. As a result, yeah, I’d probably look to bring in Siggy and/or Costa depending how the finances work out. As you say, Caz could also make way for someone as well – his blank gameweek and then no decent game until GW35 isn’t looking good.
I think this is going to be a real key gameweek in weighing up who should go and who should come in. If Costa does turn out to be injured, it could blow everything open for me on who I get again!
Not ignoring you Swirly, but I shared my thoughts earlier so rather than repeat, it maybe more useful for you if someone else gives you a different opinion my friend.

Your food for thought you gave me earlier is making me look to shipping Clichy and Monreal after this gameweek in favour of some cheap defenders so that I can bring in the likes of Siggy and even Costa. Didn’t want to do anything like that this gameweek as I’m happy with the front seven.
Any news on if Costa will play?
