Fantasy Football FF247 Team Gameweek 31

Fantasy football tips hintsOur slow methodical climb back into the top 1K continues. With our third straight green arrow on the bounce, we managed to move into 1740th place in the overall. This was a jump of 782 spots for us after a score of 91 for the week. Nice little move there, now let’s have a quick review on how it is it came about before we move onto our team for double game-week 31.

In goal once again we went with Ospina, not like we had much of a choice with Foster injured. Frustratingly though Arsenal conceded once again, making that 4 out of the last 6 where they gave up just one goal. In our backline we went with the ever trustworthy Terry. With Chelsea visiting Hull this looked like an easy opportunity for some clean sheet points. Frustratingly though Chelsea conceded once again, hmmmm, that sounds familiar. Oh well you can’t win them all I guess, probably feels similar to how John Terry feels when he strikes out with a mate’s wife. Well enough about them two big club players and their lack of production. Onto our pride and joy in the back, double Saints defenders. We decided to take a bit of a chance with a double up and 17 points later the tandem of Clyne and Alderweireld had delivered for us. With decent fixtures upcoming we hope our Southampton duo continue to show their worth.

In a great scoring week, we obviously needed our mids to score for fun. This week they didn’t disappoint us and all delivered either with an assist or a goal. Silva and Hazard both scored 9 for us, each powered by grabbing a goal. While our two other mids Eriksen and Caz each grabbed an assist, scoring 5 and 6 respectively. No real need to say much more, no need to jinx it.

Up top we have our high priced striker Sergio Aguero. That is three straight games with 2 points for the mighty Argentinian. Not sure how much longer we can continue to pay a premium price for average to bad returns. Fortunately though we have the HurriKane picking up the slack. Not only did he deliver a hat-trick, but it was doubled because he happened to be our captain. There could have been a better value player in the past, but I sure as heck can’t remember it. In the other striker slot we have a poor man’s Kane in Charlie Austin. Austin was able to grab 5 points and while no major haul, that is the same Kun has managed in the last 2 games and a half. Ok enough about the week that was, let us move along to our plans for this game-week.

Transfer(s) for GW31 – Sold Foster bought Myhill
Not the most glamorous of transfers but a sensible one never the less. With few other pressing issues to attend to and the DGW itself not exactly screaming out to be covered any more than we already have, in the shape of Austin, we decided now was a good time to fix an impending goalkeeper issue. Our other keeper is Ospina of Arsenal which would have meant us having to fix this at some point prior to GW33 as we would have had no keeper for that week. Davis of Southampton was an option but we already have two Saints defenders. Given West Brom’s good recent home form and their next two being at the Hawthorns we decided to try and take full advantage of this in the short term at least and so we bought Foster’s replacement Boaz Myhill.

Our team in full…

Fantasy football tips hints

The team pretty much picked itself this week with little or no debate over any of the line-up.

Captain

Our captain this week is Harry Kane
Whilst the team picked itself the captaincy issue split opinion to say the least! For possibly the first time this season we had no majority pick. The voting was split fairly evenly amongst Kane, Aguero and Austin. Cups of tea were thrown and tears were shed. After one of the longest and most violent debates ever the white smoke emerged and Harry Kane stepped forth.

Our vice-captain is Sergio Aguero
We didn’t even bother debating this, we had nothing left to give.

The team in text format is –

Myhill
Terry Clyne van Aanholt
Silva Hazard Eriksen Cazorla
Kane(c) Aguero(vc) Austin

Subs – Ospina, Puncheon Alderweireld Baird

    Hey guys,

So I went against the advice I got and swapped Sturridge out for Giroud, thankfully as was before his injury and subsequent price hit.

A bit torn on who to go for captain – Hazard, Kane or Austin? Austin has DGW, Kane is on a hot streak again and Hazard is MR consistency for points.

Got some money in the bank, will watch LFC carefully and see how the money-hungry Je… i mean Raheem Sterling plays and if he takes the STR position again – keen to bring him in for my MF and play 352 going forward.

PS should I look at replacing De Gea? He has consistently been scoring me points and Chelsea defense suddenly leaking and Shampton lost Forster.. Otherwise I want to swap Rose for Aderwield.

Cheers for the update! Guys, our teams our so similar, stop copying me would ya? Any thoughts on these moves with my 2FT? Think I’ll make the first one tonight as Matty P could go up:

    1. JWP to Phillips (bench Erik this week)
    2. Krul to Myhill (giving me good coverage for Ospina in 31 and 33, and clawing back a bit of cash. Also bringing my team even closer to the FF247 site team!)

Or just one of the above? I’m leading my ML by around 70 points. I decided to go with the majority of the three amigos and stick with Giroud over Austin, it’s close but I think Giroud for the next 2 could do better than Austin over the next 3, especially as one of those is Chelsea.

Anyone’s thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

I think these transfers are all good plans mate the only thing that could back fire is benching Eriksen against Burnley I know QPR have a DGW but it’s still risky.

      inittowinit says:

Hi Tommy, I wouldn’t bother with the Phillips one in all honesty. I think Erik and Caz are both difficult to drop. Caz is the one if any but being on pens is quite persuasive. Myhill one makes sense as you are fixing a minor issue rather than wasting a FT a bit like we did. Site one was more pressing as Foster is out whereas Krul could play for you but I wouldn’t trust them in any game right now!

I think you’ve made totally the right call on Austin. I know I championed getting him the other night but I must admit I didn’t realise it was Chelsea next week at that point. I have him myself and I’m captaining him but that’s only because I had him already and I’ve made other transfers and plans to allow getting him straight out next week.

      • Tommy Tilt says:

Thanks everyone, sounds like sensible advice as always, will go with it. Might need to get paralytic before the second QPR game though, hate not having DGW players! That extra FT could well come in handy though, and Caz could do well against Burnley (and Pool), cheers, night all

        • inittowinit says:

Tommy that’s exactly why I’ve captained him – I’ll be on holiday and so I’ll be watching it with a pint or 2! Good old solid fantasy logic right there laugh

Evening guys. Thank God FPL is back and international week is finally done and dusted. This is my team for this week I used 1 FT to bring in Sinclair for Puncheon and I have 1 left I’m thinking about keeping it till next week.

My plan was to bring in Sterling for next week and the upcoming DGW but now that he’s in this contract dispute do you guys think he won’t get playing or even that he will be affected by the dispute??

      inittowinit says:

Hi Matt, yeah stick with what you have now and carry over. I don’t imagine the Sterling stuff affects his game time at all. Rodgers put it under the carpet earlier and basically said he was staying next year regardless from what I understand. Only heard snippets of it though but that seemed to be the gist of it.

      • MattX says:

Hi Init. Cheers for the reply. Do you think my lineup is alright Lescott vs QPR seems good but I just think Rose vs Burnley is a better points possibility? Ye I only seen snippets of that interview also but a lot of people were saying it could affect Sterlings focus on the pitch. If I don’t bring him in who would be the next best Liverpool player to bring in? Couthino?

        • inittowinit says:

Matt I’m not convinced Spurs could stop a pig in a passageway! I’d play Lescott mate. As for Liverpool yes Coutinho for sure, he’s been on fire lately.

        • MattX says:

Haha fair enough mate smile Cheers ill let the dust settle and see what happens before I make as any transfer.

I need some suggestions here. I’ve dropped from 20k to 100k during the last 4-5 weeks. So need some advice on my team.
And which goalkeeper should I go for? I’ve forster and a non-playing keeper.
0.4 in the bank and 1FT.
    Any suggestions appreciated.

    Good article gents.

You say not much debate on the team guys, but was noone championing the double Saints defence again?

    • 17.1
      inittowinit says:

Thanks GP. Was basically Toby or PVA for the last slot and it was just a case of spreading the risk on that one. Everton have scored something like 10 in their last 4 at home? Can’t remember now but I wrote it in Fixtures on Monday so that feels like they have a fair chance of scoring. In all honesty the capo issue drained us all anyway so we’d have agreed to anything at that point!

That said if you have 2 or 3 Saints I’d play them for sure laugh

    • 17.2

I would have GP, but I still feel disgusted with some of the backstabbing that went on in the captaincy debate. 😉

    • 17.3

      Thanks Init/Mito

I get why PVA is there on the risk factor. Just imagined that one may have been a bit of a split decision.

Good luck team. Break that 1K.

Cheers for the article as always gang. Only question for me this week: play Punch v City or Bentaleb v Burnley?

    Krul
    Terry, Clyne, Rose
    Haz, Silva, Caz, Bentaleb
    Kun, Kane, Austin
    (Foster, Wollsch, Punch, Baird)

    • 18.1

Puncheon for me, I least he throws a double digit game out every once in a while. Bentaleb does close to nothing.

    • 18.2
      inittowinit says:

Hi Colriles, hope all is well. I know it doesn’t answer your question but given that ones useless and the others playing City do you have any FT’s left? Maybe a small punt on a cheap DGW’er would be better like Sinclair or even Phillips.

    • 18.3
      Colriles says:

Thanks Mito and Innit for the responses. On holiday with the inlaws and the little guy so not much chance to get on here. Much easier to find time for fantasy when im in the office! Ok, ill prob go with Punch this week. No more FT this week as Sanchez > Silva was my much belated move. Need to stop the red arrow slide!
