Fantasy Football (has been suspended!) Update

Unless you’ve been living under a rock (perhaps advisable right now) you will be aware that the Premier League have suspended all fixtures until (at least) April 4th. In essence this means that we will miss GW’s 30 & 31 and resume in GW32. Whether the 32 target actually happens is a different matter but for now that is what we are being told to work towards. We just wanted to make you aware of a few key things…

FPL have released the following on Twitter;

    To pick the bones out of that, essentially what it all means is;

  • GW’s 30 & 31 will still happen, albeit in a ghost fashion.
  • You’ll get zero points awarded (unless you somehow still take a hit!).
  • Any moves you make (be that transfers, hits, chips) will still count and be there whenever (if) we resume.
  • They’ve waffled on about the FPL Cup and how it all affects H2H leagues but who really cares!

We appreciate that the above is short ‘n sweet but that is all you need to know in a nutshell. We shall update this accordingly as and when we know more.

Please feel free to continue to chat amongst yourselves as usual and add any relevant info in the comments if you see / hear anything pertinent to the above.

Thanks for reading Fantasy Football (has been suspended!) Update.

There’s been a surprising high number of price changes this week.

    Good news
Liverpool have reversed their decision on Furlough pay, and have apologised for their original decision.

      Kop Warrior says:

Terrible decision in the first place but fair play to them for reversing their decision.

      • Zed Leppelin says:

Fair play to something else, peer pressure or whatever, that actually made them change their horrendous decision…

        • Kop Warrior says:

They changed the decision. So fair play to them.

        • Zed Leppelin says:

Why did they change it is the question? Doesn’t make fair play to Pool if something else forced their hand, so to speak…

        • Kop Warrior says:

They didn’t have to change. Other teams haven’t changed or reversed their decision.
As I said to Bigpoz on Sunday, their original decision was a ‘fcking disgrace’. So, I say fair play to them for reversing what was a terrible decision in the first place.
It’s not the first time they’ve backed down after coming under pressure from fans. Admittedly, I’d like them not to make mistakes in the first place.

        • Zed Leppelin says:

Fair enough, agree to disagree, I just wouldn’t give them any credit for reversing a decision they shouldn’t have even thought about in the first place, fair play to the fans for critiquing their own club!

        • Kop Warrior says:

Kralin was all in favour of their decision!! :hippo:

        • Kralin says:

Well, I set my reasons out pretty clearly I think. Nobody countered what I was saying.

It was all too obvious, I suppose, to bother with, and grappling with the tumult of emotions whilst simultaneously being abreast of all the facts and sitting on a high horse can be tricky, I know.

        • Kop Warrior says:

I know. I was just being facetious.

      Kralin says:

I’m chuckling about it – blubbing a little, too – in that I clearly missed something so obvious, something everyone could see apart from me, something that was right there in front of me written in huge letters up on the wall. I just did not see why it was a bad move. I actually believed it was setting a good example. You gotta laff. Anyhow. Maybe this crisis, which has now taken an utterly dramatic turn in the UK, is starting to put the zap on my brain.

Anyway, ahem, YNWA. Apart from me.

      • AJW says:

Oh Kralin. Don’t worry. I don’t even know what you are speaking about. I’m 6 furlongs off the pace in a 5 furlong race! Are the players not so benevolent as previously thought? Surprise! smile

        • Kralin says:

I’m not in the least worried, more amused by my complete misreading of the situation. But thank you.

The player side of things I’ve no idea but the owners tried to scrounge a bit of money off the government to pay staff. This was seen as very bad form and not at all the Liverpool way.

Norwich must be trembling, fearing it’ll be them next.

I hope you are keeping well.

        • AJW says:

Ah- thanks Kralin. Keep safe. Are you still running? Cheerio in any case. smile

        • Kralin says:

Still running. I was so lost in my thoughts whilst doing so earlier today that I missed a huge fly-tip, apparently.

In the queue at the supermarket earlier I was reading a JG Ballard short story and was thinking how Ballardian things are at the moment – abandoned hotels, beaches, encroaching nature and so on.

How is everyone? I hope everyone is doing ok.

I just checked the prices site http://www.fplstatistics.co.uk/ and there has been a lot of movement risers and fallers this last few days people stuck in lockdown must be using wild cards or something?

My team value has gone up about £600k since I last looked about this time last week, I have not made any changes to my team either.

All good here mate, I suspect as I am, a lot of people are still making transfers, but judging by the accuracy numbers their algorithm is shot to shit!!

      • Terminator says:

Something seems strange the number of events per day is pretty high and there is a lot of low cost players being sold and their prices going down.

I know I’ll get the obligatory ‘don’t care’ answers which is totally understandable, but let’s say EPL resumes but it’s close to or even post GW38, what will happen? Will they create additional GWs? Cancel the season?

If they do cancel it what would be a fair solution? I’ve seen some say ‘ void it and use existing ranks’ whilst I’m in a decent position myself, I’m also still in possession of my WC, BB and FH like many, is it fair that teams with higher ranks who have used their chips get that advantage?

FYI I’m not expecting anyone to have the answers! Just looking for opinion/ open up debate!

      Horse says:

I think if they cancel FPL this season they should give a nominal number of points for each chip that you haven’t used this season. Then it would be fair to add those points and calculate the new OR and position in our mini leagues.

    • 100.2

Not sure why they’d cancel the season. They will however have to think on their feet a bit given their decision to allow transfers to continue. I’d imagine they now wish they had just pressed pause. I did allude to something similar on the latest Site Team article (GWX).

Personally I’d be a bit annoyed as I’m sat outside the top 100k at the moment, having never finished with a 6 figure rank and likewise with most chips left I had no intention of doing so!

      • Rosco says:

Well that’s my opinion to but a lot of people think they’ll have no choice as they don’t have time to ‘change their programming’ which seems bonkers. I notice other games (Fan team is a good example) simply paused at GW30, still baffled as to why FPL didn’t do likewise.

Be weird if they do reset it and we lose the transfers, not sure how that would work as prices have changed but from a team POV it would be fine as many will most use their WC.
