Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 1

Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 1. As the great Bruce Buffer would say “IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTSSS TTIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMMEE!” Here we go, the planning stage is over and the moment has come to test all your pre-season theories. This season we don’t even have to wait until the weekend either, as the season kicks off on a Friday night. The invincible Arsene Wenger and his boys take on the now “back where they belong” Leicester.

Saturday hits us with a lunch time feast as Watford welcome in Liverpool and their high octane attack. Three o’clock has five fixtures on the slate. The Champs grab their first 3 points when they face Burnley, Palace host newcomer Huddersfield, The Toffees tangle with Stoke, Saints pummel Swansea and The Baggies back from vacation finally after leaving in February mix it up with The Cherries. The Saturday fixtures finish up when recently promoted Brighton tries their hand at figuring out why City paid that much for that defence.

Sunday hits us with the last two fixtures. Newcastle reacquaints themselves with the Premier League when they face Harry Kane and company, geez, what a welcome back. The late game pairs up Man United side versus a Hammers team whose big acquisitions were in part, three old Manchester leftovers, Chicha, Zaba and Hart.

Two worst scores in my team come from Alonso and Kane. HAHAHA!

Should I be considering an early hit for Benteke to Vardy? If so, where should I make up the 0.5? Kompany to Otamendi/Stones/Danilo? Ritchie to Xhaka/Mooy/Gross? If I wait past tonight then I’ll need more than 0.5, so it’ll get much more difficult. Thanks.

      Gear says:

      Do you really need Vardy?

      • banjomaker says:

You tell me?! He (and Leicester) looked very good. Palace didn’t. Not sure whether to act fast before it gets more difficult?

        • Gear says:

I’d ride it out. I hear what you’re saying in regards to performances, but if Tekkers gets a couple next week then you’ll be pissed. Vardy wasn’t great last season, if give it one or two more games. If you’ve got to find the cash, you will. Someone will show themselves as needing to be transferred.

      Raziel says:

They have pretty bad fixtures op ahead. Vardy and Leicester that is. Don’t know if they will excell every time.

      • banjomaker says:

So do Palace!! Do you reckon I should stick by tekkers instead then??

        • inittowinit says:

I’d slightly favour the Palace fixtures looking at the tracker there but I’d massively favour Vardy as a player and Leicester as a team.

        • inittowinit says:

Then again Tekkers has Liverpool away this week and I have fond memories of having him for that last season! Doesn’t look like they’ve lost their comedy value at the back either from watching that yesterday. Maybe enhanced it even looking at that Mignolet performance smile

        • banjomaker says:

That’s kinda my thought process Init. Where would you make the 0.5?

        • inittowinit says:

Not sure! Gross and Stones jumped to mind. How much is Atsu?

        • banjomaker says:

Atsu is 5.0. I know nothing about him though!!!!

        • inittowinit says:

Promising Newcastle kid, plays on the wing. Had a good pre-season. Played well today apparently. I did watch the 1st half but could barely stay awake so couldn’t really say myself!

Rosco went though and knows him better so see what he says if he’s about.

        • DMC says:

Init – as you said, Rosco will tell us better how he looked but he ain’t no kid and certainly not one from Newcastle’s youth academy if that was what you were at. He’s 27 now. He came to Europe to play in Porto and showed enough quality for Chelsea to buy him but he didn’t confim his talents there. He then went wandering around in several clubs and ended up in Newcastle. He has trickery and speed but lacks a bit of defensive compromise and positioning in general which is why it surprises me that Benitez rates him. That’s probably a sign that he has learned those skills and if he does secure a spot than he could be gold at 5.0! He had 90 m yesterday but it wasn’t a good day to check his first XI status for 90 m given the early defensive subs and the red card. One to keep an eye on I’d say and the next bandwagon if he scores any FPL pts in the next games.

Leicester fixtures would say no (for a few weeks anyway)

    • 212.4

Kompany to Stones if you do so go that way banjo.

Looks like I will have to bring Luk in it pains me to say this but Utd looked very good today thk Kane will have to go as his nk game is against Che or would you drop Kun , Luks price goes up tonight, nightmare start pig headedness where Utd are concerned 75 all in so lucky really 😉

    Pancho says:

Horrible opening GW. Most of my points came from defense. Considering WC as I didn’t have any of the big hitters and they’ll all likely rise. Apart from how ridiculous it is to even consider a WC in GW2, how does this look? Talk me off the ledge please?!?!
Linking team from this week and possible WC team.

    Starfox says:

So, this happened lol… I am so busy and caught up in my life and I didnt notice the game on friday and my plans to pick my team Saturday morning were irrelevant smile So I named my team accordingly. I need some advice. Wildcard or take a few hits and just claw my way back into contention over the long long season. To be fair my week would have been much better and on par if Firmino was not 3rd choice. Oh, well. Any and all advice welcome guys

    • 215.1

      Hi starfox

If ever there was a case for a justified early wildcard, you missing the deadline is it smile

It’s the easy way out but it depends if you like a challenge of rebuilding gradually or not. What do you feel like?

      • Starfox says:

its always usually best to wait 3-5 weeks until we see that early template forming but I have an idea of who’s in that team already. I think I will wait for the general feedback here first. But If I am going to use it I might active it tonight and get those players in before the price rises.

      DMC says:

Starfox – not a fan personally but why don’t you start a new team on gw2? It’d need to be from a different account meaning you’d lose your history. If not that, then I would WC yes.

    • 215.3
      inittowinit says:

Oh dear Star! For what it’s worth I’ve just looked at my ML and the scores range from low 50’s to high 80’s. Some of the low ones are lads I know who usually do ok and play it so you’re not far off someone who simply had a poor week. Albeit that you’re probably 30 or 40 off something more ideal. If that were me I’d just Wildcard it this week. You’re not a million miles away from a decent side in all honesty but it’s just that the balance is in all the wrong places unfortunately so correcting that gradually could be a slow and painful process. As DMC says using the WC now is hardly a critical loss as opposed to what doing so after Christmas would be.
