Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 16
Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 16. And we go again… We were promised ‘thick and fast’ in the weeks ahead, and it’s already starting to feel that way, as we have our 3rd GW begin within the space of 8 days, ‘get used to it’ is all we can offer by way of comfort.
GW16 is a tad Saturday heavy with no less than 8 games. We kick off with Bournemouth hosting Liverpool in the early one prior to five 3pm games. There are then two evening games beginning with a potential cracker as Chelsea welcome the Pep (rotation) machine at 5.30pm before Leicester take on Spurs in a rare Saturday evening treat at 7.45pm.
Sunday only has one game as a result, oddly. This one sees Newcastle play Wolves before Monday finishes us off with Everton at home to Watford.
The games in full…

The League Codes for FF247 for the 2018/19 season are as follows –
Mane owners, are you sticking with him or swapping him for Salah? Only way I can get Salah without having to downgrade elsewhere and take a hit is by selling Sterling for him, which I don’t want to do since I don’t have Aguero. If Richarlison blanks again tomorrow would it make sense to use my FT this GW to sell him for Son?
Early thoughts what to do here. 0.9 in the bank one free transfer? I still have my wildcard which needs to be used really soon. I’m thinking Richarlson out as he has City and Spurs next. BSilva maybe or Sterling in for Hazard
I’m planning on stashing Richie on the bench for the next 2 myself, his fixtures after those are great.
Yeah but different for me I’ve got a wildcard so only looking at 2 or 3 weeks
Yeah I’d sell Richarlison and then get him with WC (if you still want him then), wouldn’t ditch Hazard now I think, Chelsea will gain some confidence from this City beating, I’d use the FT on Richarlison… Why not Richarlison –> Anderson? Anderson is in great form!
I’d love to do Anderson. Problem is I have three West Ham players already. Bloody Diangana
Ah right didn’t spot him there… That’s tough then as it’s really slim pickings at that price, the second name I’d suggest there is Fraser Martial is a doubt perhaps and a tough fixture, Siggy has the same problem as Richarlison, Bilva is a rotation risk….
I’m thinking BSilva because of the DSilva injury and KDB is going to be eased back which makes BSilva quite important
B Silva is the way I’m looking to get back into City. I started the season with him and he was ok, kept things ticking along just about.
Recent weeks have seen me splurge on Kane and Lacazette so not much money left. B Silva will hopefully play and has shown he can get double-digit returns.
Yeah I need some sort of City coverage. Might be damage limitation with BSilva rather than cover but is capable
Hmm maybe not so good for BSilva
Averages with 1 game left.
Thanks. Miraculously hauled myself back (last night I forgot to include bonus points). I hope everyone else is, like me, having a quiet little blub of gratitude in a Doherty direction. What a handy player he’s been.
Mention Doherty and Fraser in the same sentence and I break down completely.
Thoroughly agree young K. Although with me it was Doherty, Robbo, Torreira, Alonso & Son (mixture of existing team members & new recruits) to get me all emotional & thanking some divine presence not to have punished me for joining the masses who sacked Salah & Hazard for other illustrious names (Sterlo, Kane, Auba, Son) – honest, I was going to do it anyway, as I was fed up with my mediocrity. Salah’s hat-trick had me rueing my imprudence, but some of the boys saved my day & I’ve crossed the 60 point GW barrier – it could have been a lot different, so I got off lightly.
Now must keep my resolve AND my team intact for the next 3 or 4 GWs, so I can benefit from my otherwise hasty actions! Bye for now. Shall ask your advice in future before acting unwisely.
Thoughts on priorities here? 2fts 0itb
Was thinking Pickford out but after the next 2 GWs his run looks lovely. Think I’ll just hold onto him.
Seems Dilva and Dunk both need to be dealt with.
What would you do?
Silva to son?
+1
Agreed
I’d keep Pickford.
The Silva to Son call is a good one; other options are Silva to B Silva (who may well match Son over the next few weeks), or be radical and drop Alonso for a cheapo, one of the WHU cheapos perhaps, and use the money to turn Silva into someone with a bit more oomph.
Evening
How is everyone? Anyone else had a shocker or was it just me?
Need to deal with Barkley for GW17, got 0.2 ITB so I don’t have many options except for Snodgrass or torreria, who would you go for?
Any other suggestions would be welcomed.
Snoddy makes sense
+1
or do a -4 and bring in Anderson for Richarlison and do Barkley to torreria?
I’ve not seen enough of Torreira. Quality player but he’s a defensive midfielder
Torriea won’t be scoring every game, need some help who would replace Zaha with?
Evening, Mitro. I think it’s fair to say that the FF247 site team’s also had a bit of a shocker this GW. Unless Richarlison scores heavily against the mighty ‘orns tomorrow, the site team’s not likely to grace the cup with its presence this year.
I don’t think he mentioned the Site Team there GKW? How’s your own season going?
He mentioned shockers this GW My own season? Ahem, well I think the cup’s my best chance of any silverware… But I’m still hopeful of finishing in the top 100k.
The ‘Site Team’ is often self deprecating enough when it’s warranted, no airs or graces there. You were always it’s biggest critic though so no surprise to see you suddenly pipe up when it’s not had a good week and you have. See you again in about another 4 seasons then yeah? 😉
Granted, I’m guilty of disappearing for months if not indeed entire seasons. That’s been more due to being too busy with other things than despondency or embarrassment about my team’s performance. And yeah, very(!) occasionally I’m lucky enough to have a dig at the site team. But it’s a bit harsh to say I’ve always been the site team’s greatest critic, no? I think most of my posts are responses to requests for advice.
Mitro,
I made some notes this weekend for Tips and one was to look more closely at the numbers of Torreira. He will be mentioned this week. But then again so will Snoddy. They are in my bargain bin for mids.
I will say that for a defensive midfielder, Torreira’s goal involvement is respectable across his time in Italy and the start of his Arsenal career. I would keep in mind that he is only 5.0M so fills a hole so to speak – it’s not like you’re paying premium price for a midfielder. I’ll stop now before I write the article here
evening guys. need some advice for the upcoming week. i want to bring in sane/son next week but will be for a hit.
pereyra will become snodgrass and martial becomes son.
or
for sane, it will be ederson becomes hamer and martial becomes sane.
what would you take at this stage? double city or double spurs? i already have sterling and kane in my squad
Spurs’ next 5 or so GW look very good on paper.
I’m not sure I’d be in a rush to get rid of Martial
Yes good point, I hadn’t noticed that part of E’s cunning plan.
okay smash. maybe kane for the time being is ok as only spurs coverage.
Yeah eresh, I wouldn’t commit to a hit just now.
United have a very handy Christmas fixture list and any assets of theirs, I’d hold on to in al honesty. And Martial scored his first ever United goal against Liverpool IIRC.
i see GP. wanted son badly in but can hold off a little longer. pereyra has cardiff next so dont know if i should sell him (assuming he blanks tomorrow) and bring in snodgrass.
ill keep an eye midweek and see what united puts out against valencia.
Not sure about selling Perrerya before Cardiff at home either
If he has a hamstring injury I don’t see him being risked on Wednesday on a game where to all ends, is a dead rubber match.
Ideally, he would be prepared for the weekend I think. Let’s see what is said by Jose.
hmm okay.. thanks guys. pereyra was ultimately going to be fraser but ill wait after he finishes the tough games and bring him in. ill focus on murray to jimenez now.
What I’m meaning is just keep an open mind just now. So much can happen over the coming days.
Agree with GP a lot could change in the week. So many games, weather getting colder players could get muscle injuries at any time this time of the year
Will do guys. ill bide my time and be patient. friday will come quick enough.
Eresh, Pereyra has a good run of fixtures coming up. I’m sticking with him, at least for now. I’ve opted for Chicharito as my 3rd striker and, as I also have Fabianski, that’s enough West Ham exposure for my liking. Felipe Anderson would be the West Ham midfielder to go after if I wanted one.
hey gkw.. thanks mate. i dont follow the watford games much.. he has been blanking in the past few weeks. how has he been? is he creating chances or does he look short of confidence?
I wouldn’t say short of confidence, Eresh. But his goals tend to come at home against weaker teams, and Watford have had a tricky run since Huddersfield in GW10.
cheers gkw. ill hold on then and wait till fraser’s tough run of games are over and then assess. i do not expect much from him tomorrow as watford has a bad record at goodison. cardiff will surely be interesting.
Indeed, I left Pereyra on my bench this GW – he’s not a player to pick every week for FPL. (But as it happens he’ll come on to replace Wilson, whose injury was announced annoyingly late.)
