Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 16

Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 16. And we go again… We were promised ‘thick and fast’ in the weeks ahead, and it’s already starting to feel that way, as we have our 3rd GW begin within the space of 8 days, ‘get used to it’ is all we can offer by way of comfort.

GW16 is a tad Saturday heavy with no less than 8 games. We kick off with Bournemouth hosting Liverpool in the early one prior to five 3pm games. There are then two evening games beginning with a potential cracker as Chelsea welcome the Pep (rotation) machine at 5.30pm before Leicester take on Spurs in a rare Saturday evening treat at 7.45pm.

Sunday only has one game as a result, oddly. This one sees Newcastle play Wolves before Monday finishes us off with Everton at home to Watford.

The games in full…

Keep track of all the action, the goals, the talking points, right here at FF247 Live Match Chat, an interactive chat which encourages you to keep involved and share your thoughts and emotions as the matches take place.

Good luck to absolutely everyone for Gameweek 16 from all at FF247!

Last minute incorrect decision among 2 options – lost 17 points and 0.2m TV…would have been a superb week. Last minute decisions are never good. Now I am just hoping that the decision proves correct over few GWs.

    Hey Guys
Im pretty set on getting Salah back but not sure how yet.
    I have 2 free transfers,
    Patricio
    Alonso, Robertson, Dunk, Holebas, Petier
    Sterling, F.Henderson, Fraser, Richardlison, Hojbjerg
    Kane, Auba, Murray.

I was thinking of Alonso, Richardlison and Auba for (-4) to get Chicharito, Salah and Doherty

      DMC says:

Funny. I think Salah will be out

      • DMC says:

Funny. I think Salah will be outperformed by your other 3 heavy hitters during the xmas period and I am looking at selling him to get Kane (I have the other two). So, while I believe Salah is obviously needed, I also think now is the time when we can let him go for a while. His price hasn’t changed much since gw1 and obviously hasn’t rise so that’s not an issue.
In your situation (without knowing the money available) I would consider a straight Murray->Chicharito move.

        • @DMC, it was my plan to sell him this week. The 21 point outburst has made me a little hesitant, but I agree with you. They got tough games and CL match they must win. 6 games in 18 days that include City, United and Arsenal, plus Wolves away. On top of their must win CL game. He is going to get a rest and there is a good chance he will get it for that Newcastle game, which is the only game that I would consider him for captain.

        • DMC says:

@Mito – Yep. That’s my reasoning. I had planned to get Kane after the Barça game and he getting a goal + assist on gw 15 + geting a semi-rest in gw16 only assures me that that’s the correct move. So it would be between Salah, Auba and Sterling. This hattrick also makes me hesitant and many will call us dumb or mad to sell him now but it’s just what makes sense in terms of what we expect from these players over the next 5/6 gws. Salah will still score, but will he score more than the others? I don’t think so. I must say I’m sitting on an active WC here, meaning I wouldn’t necessarily be contemplating this move with hits involved. Another argument in favor of this move is that his price is the same, whereas we have value built in Sterling and Auba, so it’s easier to sell and rebuy Salah when needed then those two. I have toyed with it last night and this is what I got (meant Alonso-»Doherty, Salah-»Anderson, Schurrle-»Torreira and Kamara-»Kane). Torreira is in there for speculation purposes as he was due a raise last night. What you think of it? Still £1.1 itb.
Before you mention it, I am aware of the triple Wolves defence. Reasoning is that I couldn’t sell Alonso for anyone but Doherty, giving his attacking stats, and I can’t find better bench fodder than Bennet at that price other than WB, whom I obviously already have. So, basically I’d sell Patricio to avoid such triple, but I’m struggling to look past Fabianski, who then would leave me on triple WH! I also don’t want to use said £1.1 on the keeper position as it’s being saved for the Torreira spot.

          Any and all suggestions welcome!

        • @DMC – All of the names mentioned and all the planned moves while on WC – make perfect sense !!
I have already sold Salah last week, so no need to mention that I completely agree with everything mentioned above.

I would like to open a (slightly) different topic, though.
With so many people activating their WC’s last or this GW, the end result will be a Template (post WC) Team.
The lack of options this year in every department of our teams, makes it difficult to “experiment” and add(find) 1 or 2 differentials to include in the team.

Similar post WC teams templates are flying all around and that’s not the recipe for a green arrow this December, me thinks.

        • @DMC, I could see ending up with something similar. @HL is right. But I don’t really think that is different than any season. WCs played at the same time usually lead to that. I saw a bunch of WCs last week that had no Salah and had switched Robbo to TAA. Recency bias and future fixtures make it obvious where new WC teams will usually all land.

I have Fraser and Richy, if I were on a WC I probably wouldn’t mind dropping them, the problem is for who. I want to turn Richy into Son, but it requires having Haz instead of Sterling. Arghhh

Not sure which route to take myself, so it be hard for me to suggest changes. If I was playing a WC I suspect we have about 12-13 players that matched.

I assume Henderson is actually Anderson?

Auba looks better value than Salah based on current fixtures. Murray & Rich out would be my priority.

Tuttosport (Italian sports newspaper/portal) is quoting reports from Spain that Barca is not going to field their strongest team against Spurs !!
This off course is not good news for Inter, which is why they are worried.

To add some more “oil” on this, reports (from Spain) say that Barsa is already thinking about selling the now 32yrs old Suarez and is ready to bid 200mil !! for his replacement.
200mil for (yes, you guessed it) Harry Kane !!

    200mil + a CL knockout stage place, maybe ?!?
That would be a nice “package” !!

Tuesday can’t come soon enough

Doesn’t make a ton of sense to me, well it does and doesn’t.

Poch is a Perico, which means Barca will want to eliminate him because of his days at Espanyol. Also if Barca eliminate Spurs it could feel like a change is in order, making it slightly more possible for them to want to sell and Kane possibly getting frustrated with Spurs going backwards in the CL and not advancing further than last season also possibly starting to pressure a little for a move away.

That move makes sense for both teams. Although I am not sure if he is not a better fit at Madrid who are a counter and crossing team, that seems the better destination.

      • @Mito

Icardi to Real M. & Kane to Barsa sounds more logical to me…
Not the other way around…not sure why though smile
Playing with a big center forward upfront is more Barsa’s style than Real’s…

Spurs went through, just as I suspected…
Not convinced that Spurs would have won the game if Inter would have done the same at home, but after watching the game live – Spurs had a lot of chances…
It was obvious that Barsa played this one in 2nd gear…

Anyway, Spurs going through doesn’t mean they will win it.
It just means more money in Levy’s pocket.
And that is exactly what “the conspiracy theory” was all about.
Spurs get a “bit of help” to go through…they get some $$…plus they get a 200mil check next summer (coincides well with them not buying s**t this summer bcs of the new stadium costs) and going on a spending fee right after that…

Again…not saying Barsa “sold” the game…
They just played in a way nobody would suspect they did…
Now, if Inter had managed to win their game, everything would have been different.
Not 100% sure Spurs would have managed to win 1-2…but who knows…

Nevertheless, LIV & SPURS are through…
Which is a good thing for the PL…
The PL needs some good results in CL to regain their league’s coefficient and surpass Italy in the standings (so more teams can qualify directly).

Just catching up on the comments, found some of the replies on comment 170 very interesting (in particular those by Mito and DMC).

As one of those who ditched Salah this week (and was duly punished!!) my natural reaction is ‘I need him back’. However, removing him was part of a bigger plan to get those players I feel will outscore him over the next 5-6 game-weeks.

With this in mind what are people’s thoughts with regard to my team for the xmas period; should I stick to the plan and keep the likes of Kane, Auba and Sane (as it would be two of those who would need to go to facilitate his return). Would be very interested to hear thoughts of those still with him, but also those (Init, AT etc) who have recently (painfully) got rid!

    • 173.1

@Rosco, I would trade my team for yours. I be inclined to ke keep that.

      • Rosco says:

Thanks mate that’s good to hear, it’s difficult not to be reactionary when you’ve made moves that backfire immediately, but if I step back and look at fixtures, coupled with some of the above discussions, I’m inclined to stick to the plan.

      AT says:

Hi mate. I’m staying put. At least for this week. I could potentially be tempted after this GW’s fixtures, once Salah has played United and Kane has played Burnley, to switch them again because I don’t think that Everton (A), Bournemouth (H) (then again, isn’ this why we all want Salah again? laugh ) and Wolves (H) are the best fixtures going. However, Salah has Wolves (A), Newcastle (H), Arsenal (H) and City (A). Arguably that’s one good fixture, and a whole load of team value taken up for it.

What really stands out to me in your post is this: ‘removing him was part of a bigger plan to get those players I feel will outscore him over the next 5-6 game-weeks.’ Me too. Has that changed since Salah scored a hat-trick? Not really. He had three shots on target last weekend, and you know where they all ended up! In the last 7 games he has started he has had the following number of shots on target: 1, 2, 2, 0, 3, 2, 0. He also usually gets panned on bonus points because of his missed opportunities – his 3 shots on target out of four shots this weekend represents only the fifth time all season he has had an on target % of 75% or more; one of those was in GW1 and another was this midweek-GW just gone where he was on the pitch for 25 minutes and had two shots. In GW14, against Everton, he had one shot all game, and it was not even on target.

I’m not saying Salah is a bad pick but rather that he is not the obvious star man we need to be building our teams around at £13m. You must have thought that yourself before last GW when you, unfortunately, took him out just before his first hat-trick of the season (and his first time scoring more than one in a PL game in god knows how long). And I did too. If he has now become this obvious star man to you because of this GW, then move mountains to get him back in. As to where I stand on it, his first goal was offside and his third came when Bournemouth looked like they had given up, to put it frankly laugh

Sane and Sterling had a very tricky fixture this week. This week it’s Everton at home. Everton have one win away from home, and we all know what City can do (indeed, just ‘do’) at home. Kane won’t come on for a short cameo again either. I built my wildcard for the coming weeks. Yes, I was surprised to see Sane and Sterling draw blanks and Kane come on late, but that’s the way it goes sometimes. Salah in for Sane and Kane this week feels like chasing last week’s points and missing out on this week’s!

      • Rosco says:

Thanks for such a succinct reply mate, the facts are very interesting too. I’ll certaiblnly not be reversing the plan immediately and may ultimately just leave it be barring any major injuries. The plan may not work but it was well thought out and I even did a -8 (something I rarely do) to make it happen! Bring on next GW!

      • Great post AT

        *(scrubs Salah from Tips article)*

      • Smash says:

I’m going to put forward a case for Salah. He’s being dismissed because people sold him a bit.Fixtures are not say really easy but neither was Bournemouth away. They are not difficult. He’s been showing small signs of being back. He’s now going to be on a massive high confidence wise after scoring a hatty and we know he’s capable of that against anyone. I remember the reasons for getting Auba and Sterling in last week were they were the top scorers in the game well that’s now Salah. I’m not saying everyone get Salah back in at all just wanted to put forward a case for Salah from someone who has not suddenly jumped on Sterling/Auba. Ultimately they are all decent options and can easily score big

        • AT says:

Yep, I agree. My argument was more that if you binned him last week because you did not deem him to be worth the money, I don’t think the hat-trick merits bringing him back in again this week. Also, Bournemouth are good offensively, but against sides in the top 11 of the table they had conceded 8 in 4 at home, which now of course rises to 12 in 5 after the Liverpool game. Leaky.

        • Smash says:

Also kind of depends what he does against Napoli. If he puts on another show that changes things.

        • Stone Frog says:

Good to see some support for Salah. However, my feeling for mids over the next few weeks is I would rather have Hazard and Sterling (and they are cheaper).

It’s great to log on here and see that there are others in the same boat as me and being very mature and philosophical about it. It’s calmed me down a lot.

I got rid of Salah quite a while ago so the pain isn’t felt as much as others, but the blanks from the majority of the new signings hurts bad.

So I’m hoping for 11 points or more from Richarlson tonight
