Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 2
Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 2.
If you made it from GW1 to GW2 then that probably either means you scored well in GW1 and are still full of beans having done so or that you are simply a proper FPL player and know that you will make it to GW38 regardless. Either way GW2 is upon us so let’s go see how the weekend pans out…
Arsenal’s reserve team got off to a good start with 3 points away at Newcastle and they clash in the days early game with a bouyant Burnley side who beat Southampton 3-0 in their own first game.
3pm sees us with five games but with the exception of Liverpool it’s a list of the ‘also-rans’ again. There’s definitely a pattern developing here… Villa host Bournemouth with both looking for their first win, Everton host Watford with both looking for their first win, Norwich host Newcastle with both looking for their first win, Brighton host West Ham with both looking for their first win, (oh hang on, Brighton won?!) West ham looking for their first win. Southampton host Liverpool and of course the hosts are looking for their first win. They’ll still be looking next week too.
The evening game is argueably the first big clash of the titans this season as Man City host Spurs.
Sunday sees Sheffield United and Palace get us going at 2pm, with both teams looking for their first win. That is followed at 4.30pm by Chelsea and Leicester, with… yeah, you guessed it, both teams looking for their first win!
We go to Monday this time too as Wolves host Man United in a mouth watering clash.
The games in full…

Hahah love it COYS!
:bop:
This was meant as a reply for coys9 :slaphead:
Ok this is a …..less good…… week
Those less good weeks are always bound to happen, just gotta be able to take them to the chin and move to the next GW…. FPL is very much like golf, you play 38 holes and you will make a few bogeys, but it’s how you react to the bogeys that is important, not the bogeys themselves, everyone will make a few bogeys
38 holes? You crazy man
Just a reference to 38 GWs in FPL
As a Liverpool fan I’m happy that the goal was disallowed. As a football fan I’m saddened.
There was no need for those last six words.
Same Kop.
Didn’t see it, was it just the slightest of touches? Not a clear foul? Or why?
The ball barely grazed Laporte’s arm.
Yeah just read Init’s post, cheers! Should have been allowed then!
I believe so
The rule has changed Kop. It was the correct decision in line with it.
Init, I realise the rule has changed. It’s the rule change I have a problem with. For me, the goal should have stood.
Depends on how you interpret the should bit of Zed’s question!
I’m here to interpret the rules of football not Zed’s question! 😉
Agree with Kop here 100%. Using VAR for clear Ref mistakes is fine, but disallowing goals due to minimalistic “unintentional” fouls should be reconsidered. Nuno said very correctly the other day- “We have such a nice Premier League product, we cannot lose it. It’s what fans come here for – not to celebrate when [there] is no goal. That is not the real celebration of football. You celebrate when there is a goal. Creating these moments are not good for the atmosphere of the game.” I agree
Should have been allowed as in the handball didn’t “create” the goal in a manner that is against the ethos of football; shouldn’t have been allowed as in it was clearly accordance with the new rule
And what about the foul on Rodri in the box? Should that not have been a penalty? Where the hell was VAR?
That’s what I’ve been saying all the time, it’s still people who decided whether they use it or not, isn’t it? The same human conundrum still exists, all the referees should be robots really :laugh2:
I believe Rodri was fouled. On the handball , they changed the rules so was rightly disallowed
Looks like it could be a low enough average score for today.
As a Liverpool fan I think VAR is ruining the entertainment. Apparently if the ref checks the VAR screen they should only need one look at the replay to make a decision. If the ref checked that he would of needed at least 2 as it was far from Clear and obvious.
Also…. as a Liverpool fan, we will never concede to a beachball ever again. Phew.
You haven’t played Watford yet #TroyDeeney
The referee can take as many looks from as many angles available to him to come to his decision.
It would be great if the review process could be sped up (I think it may do as we move on) but I’d rather be on the end of a correct decision than a rushed one.
Oh yeah the ref can but according to talkSport who I was listening today, It should only require one. I don’t know how true that is to be honest either or where they pulled it from.
I think everyone would rather be on the side of a correct decision rather than a rushed one to be fair.
That handball was not clear and obvious nor was it intentional nor were his hands in an unnatural position.
VAR may be beneficial with offsides, diving, fouls etc but if its going to be used to call handballs like that the entertainment and pace of the game will suffer massively. Will players slowly stop celebrating goals waiting for a VAR check, stadiums will be quieter after a goal, we will see way less Diego Costa like shitthousery, the human element to the game wont be as prominent. It won’t be as natural.
Also, from what I have read – fans who travel to games that need VAR decisions are left out of the loop. People who are watching on TV know more about whats happening. 60 beans or more to go support a team only to be left in Limbo. That kills the Atmosphere.
Different VAR systems in place for different competitions is a terrible sign too. It needs to be integrated properly with better protocols and procedures.
Yeah it’s hugely dependent on the venue, reckon the big teams might have more opportunities to show on monitors what’s going on, but at the smaller venues of the smaller teams it’s quite impossible to keep the spectators in the know… Or so I’ve heard anyway
Talksport, and I listen now and again, so I’m not looking down my nose on those who do is shock radio and accordingly I filter very thoroughly what I hear on that.
The handball was a handball in line with the laws of the game. VAR only brought it to the referee’s attention tonight.
I like the rest of your points in general.
Ah fair enough. I don’t know much about talkSport so I will heed your warning. I just threw it on as it was the first one I found.
Haha thanks lad, hopefully it comes better soon!
Talksport hosts the best radio show there is in my opinion; H&J at 1-4pm. Those 2 presenters are a class above Talksport but that’s where they reside, so be it. Then again they have Danny Kelly and Simon Jordan also so pick your times on there and it can be quality.!
