I’m seriously going to consider triple captain In The Liverpool double. However Vardy in GW34 away to Norwich and Arsenal could also be potentially good

They should be playing this weekend!

Them players get paid a lot of money to entertain us punters and after some of the performances the players don’t deserve any time off :bouncy:

The FA Cup is on this weekend is it not?

        • Terminator says:

Oh  I didn’t realise this week was when all the Prem teams were dropped in to the FA cup, I get mixed up with the cup games between the FA and the League cup, I think the latter should be dropped anyway by the Prem teams, the League cup is a pointless competition imo, the Europa and Champions league teams have enough games to play as it is with the FA cup as well.

        • Zed Leppelin says:

Agreed, one national cup is enough! And they should definitely abolish the very futile community shield as well!

        • Frenchie says:

Agree on the league cup, not on the community shield, Zed.
It’s tradition and part of the history of football, (contrary to league cup), and it’s only one game.

        • Zed Leppelin says:

I gotta admit I had no idea about long it has been played, but it’s still strange to hand out a title for winning one game! Both those teams have already gotten a title for a great achievement anyway

I was sad to read the League Cup getting such a negative press (though I know some purists argue that things have never been the same since the Southern Professional Floodlit Cup finished). However I daresay you all know a lot more about it.

I would argue that the League Cup has seen some very good finals over the years.

Made my moves early which is risky, but needed to rebalance the team before price rises. This is where I’m at. Hoping I get through the cup matches ok. Unless Bou show some form I may just leave Pope in for the difficult run, certainly for this week anyway.

I’m wondering, what’s the point of a split-crest scarf? I’m trying to decide what kind of scarf to buy, cheers! smile

    PorcelainBiscuit says:

Hello everybody, planning to do (or not do) something before price hikes. 2FTs.
    Rasford + Alli > Calvert-Lewin + Salah

    Front 8 then becomes:
    Salah Mane KDB Martial Cantwell
    Vardy Ings Calvert-Lewin
Sets me up decently for DGW and good run of Pool fixtures. But have to do it now to avoid losing out out due to price hike.

Or should I stick with Rashford + Alli and use up one FT on Femenia > Holgate at the back and roll other FT? :scratch_one-s_head:

As there are no EPL games today I decided to explore further the current Top 10 FPL teams. Discovered some shocking, if not weird, moves made so far. It remains to be seen how many of them, if any, are still somewhere at the top at the end of the season. Most importantly, it will show do the chips and double gameweeks strategies matter.

    N:1
TC played in GW5 on Mane for 45p.
FH in GW14-total score 30p when the average was 51p.
    N:3
FH played in GW3 total score 45p when the average was 44.
TC played in GW13 on Mane for 27p.
BB played in GW17 total score 86p (bench 28p)
    N:4
Didn’t bother to play the first WC.
FH played in GW18-total score 60p average that week 38p.
    N:5
BB played in GW18-total score 101p (bench 16p)
    N:6
TC played in GW1 on Kane for 39p.
BB played in GW11-total score 101p (bench 30p)
    N:10
TC played in GW14 on Vardy for 18p.
BB played in GW15-fatal score 84p (bench 19p)
FH played in GW18-total score 54p when the average was 38p.

      Zed Leppelin says:

Those are not bad TC scores, N1 for instance Mane with 15pts, that’s not easy to get even in a DGW…

However, and here’s the important part, even if they are near the top come the end it doesn’t show whether the chips and double gameweeks strategies matter! Those teams are at the top now because they have nailed the chips, it doesn’t mean that most of the teams that DIDN’T play the DGW strategies and the chips in DGWs are at the top, it doesn’t mean that the best strategy is not to play the DGW chips! It basically just means someone got lucky, but if you played 10 seasons your overall points would likely be better if you always played the chips in the DGWs as opposed to always playing the chips in a delicious SGW fixture…

By looking at individual teams you can actually say nothing about the strategies! You should look at masses and see the averages and draw conclusions from there… It’s like looking at a one single cat owner who’s a millionaire and saying you should buy a cat in life as cat owners are millionaires smile

      • Zed, If we put aside this philosophy, the bottom line is, some of those are big gamblers and been very lucky or they are just trying different methods and see how it goes

        • Zed Leppelin says:

I think all it shows if some of those win or is near the top in May is that you need to be very lucky to win or to be near the top (which everyone knows already)… But yeah, so you can be lucky in any given GW I guess, but perhaps it’s a little bit easier to be lucky in a DGW

          :laugh2:

      • Totally agree. I can’t see any of them finishing near even top 10 K.
1- Second season, last finished 3 and 1/2 million.
        2- 4th season, best top 100 K
        3.- 5th season, best 120 K
        4- First season
        5- Third season, best top 500 K
        6- First season
7- 6th season, best top 104 two years ago and then top 1K*
        8- 11th season, best 90 K
        9- First season
        10- 3rd season, best top 1 million.
Maybe a small chance for the current number 7 to find himself in the top 10 K :wink2:

        • inittowinit says:

It says a lot for getting lucky on a chip too. It says a lot to people looking at ML’s too; check the chips both left and used. The story isn’t always as clear cut as the league table suggests initially. Failed chips are just as important to consider, for those with chips left yet rendered anyway, especially with the DGW’s coming. Salutary tales, etc.

        • Yep, that is exactly init. Most failed on the chips used, apart from one or two who may or not got lucky. We wouldn’t know the exact picture until after the big DGW’s.
Mind you, sometimes they could turn disastrous. Will never forget that TC on Kane two years ago in an early January DGW.

        • inittowinit says:

          Indeed, I did that too!

        • Zed Leppelin says:

The TC chip isn’t really that big of a deal actually, you get double points for captaincy every week and that’s a lot more relevant than the TC, you can nail the TC but if you get bad captaincy choices in other weeks it doesn’t save you! You just get one additional player to your normal team with the TC, albeit one of the more expensive players no doubt, and there’s 38 GWs in the game and as you can play 12 players every week (the captaincy pick being two players) you get 456 picks in a season, and in that suddenly TC chip’s additional 1 player is nothing, BB is 4 more players, but even that is rather meaningless in the greater scheme of things (of 456 players)

        • DMC says:

I doubt those in #4 and #6 are in their first season. These are probably “b” or “c” or “experiment-n” teams for all we know trying different takes at it. There’s no way a newbie with no fpl experience finds himself in the top 10 after 21 gws just on chips. They wouldn’t even know how to distinguish fpl chips from Burguer King chips.

      • Haha, DMC you nailed it. That was my initial thought as you see above.
Definitely experimental teams for most of these, trying new ways.
Anyhow, I’ve bookmarked all 10 of them. Can’t be bothered following throughout the rest of the season, but will check after the last round how they ended.

      Mitro says:

Anyone else planning to use there TC chip in GW24?

      • DMC says:

Seriously considering to use it on Salah Mitro (or Mane if I had him). Reasoning being their current form and that unlike other years all could be already “decided” come the later dgws for the usual suspects (Pool, City, that is). With champions league perhaps being prioritized by then there could be less potential. The fact both games are separated by almost one week also helps the dgw24 cause.
