Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 24

Let the fun begin! We could be about to encounter a number of DGW’s on the bounce and DGW24 is the first of those, albeit with just the 4 teams playing twice.

We begin on Saturday and end on Wednesday but it is also worth bearing in mind that DGW25 then starts less than 48hrs later, on Friday evening.

Leicester and Liverpool get us under way @12.30pm on Saturday and this is followed by Palace & Burnley @3pm, Man City get their double under way @5.30pm vs Spurs before Brighton & Villa see Saturday out @8pm.

Sunday is a similar marathon with Saints vs Wolves @12pm, Man Utd going to West Brom @2pm, Arsenal welcoming Leeds @4.30pm with Everton & Fulham getting their respective doubles under way @7pm.

Just the two on Monday as West Ham welcome Sheffield Utd @6pm and Newcastle go to Chelsea @8pm.

The ‘bonus’ games occur on Wednesday with Burnley & Fulham boring everybody @6pm before Everton & Man City should hopefully wake us all up again @8.15pm.

  1. Does anyone know when fixtures will be confirmed for GW26?

  2. Has anyone activated their wildcard? I’m very tempted tonight

    • I will be too with BB in GW26. Just haven’t a clue who’ll be in my team.

      • Hit the WC and had a first pass at it. Slight benching headache but I’ll be BB in GW26. Let’s see how the fixtures pan out but I’ve tried to capture the risers and fallers early.

        • That looks nice. I’ve similarly gone for the (I hope) Pope and Martinez encore. For now, anyway.

          I was puzzling over how you’d done it then realised: no Salah.

          I’m tearfully trying to shoehorn a Leicester player in and haven’t worked out a way yet.

        • There’s always one that has to make way. It’s a gamble but for the cash he ties up it seems worth it

        • Fair enough. I guess you’re hoping Sterling matches / surpasses – which could well happen.

        • For now it’s just a case of keeping the players I have value in. Things might shake out with a few injuries and it’ll be all change

        • It can be surprisingly tricky, I find, to remove some players. They’ve been in my side for too long, asserting their presence in some strange way and have become a fixture.

          Wildcarding can take surprising psychological turns.

    • Still Trying to decide but I’m not sure why I’m putting it off. Looks like Watkins and Dallas could rise in price tonight who I’d probably want.

    • I am completely clueless…I am waiting for some clarity on DGWs, BGW, etc.

    • Not activated it. I’ve taken a -8 to bring in Ings, Dallas and Raphinha to avoid the price rises. I will likely wildcard but not pushing the button yet.

  3. So saka on for Antonio for 5 points isn’t the worst. Barnes official stuck on the bench, but with 93 guess I have to be happy smile

    Mee definitely misses his next game, so hopefully 4 to go.

    • Nice to have a keeper supplying an assist.

      • Was indeed. Pretty sure hes starting the next game too

        • Would have thought so. Maybe he’ll get a penalty in that one. Maybe he’ll take one and save one. You’d want to screenshot his score and put it in a frame on a wall.

  4. This is how my team’s looking now, should I play my WC? I’ll be building a team to BB in Gw 26 as well as plan for blank GW29 as I no longer have my FH

    • Looks good for next week anyway smile not sure if I’ll be going Bamford as captain, think bruno is going to be mine.

      Not sure when the best time to WC will be, but wait till the next dgw is locked in

    • I’d wildcard but of course down to you.

      But I wouldn’t dither too much. I rather dozily missed a Vardy price rise and I daresay others – the likes of Ings and the Leeds lot – will all rise pretty soon.

    • I like it but I’d probably swap Antonio with someone like Adams or Watkins.

  5. To get from 26 to 29 without a FH (I already used mine too) the GW26 WC team needs to have something like 2xAVL 2xTOT (who will likely have a double in 26 and also play in 29). And a bench with some LEE and WHM players ready for 29.

    If your WC intention is to get 15 DGW players for 26, it doesn’t work as you then have to take hits or be short for 29.

    I think you can get a reasonable 11 for DGW26 from what you have, so I would recommend aiming for 29 now, then WC30 and BB31 should see you with a strong team to finish the season

    • That’s a good post with some excellent points.

      I’m not fretting too much about 29 – have got a vague eye on it without letting it torpedo planning for the (hopefully) more lucrative weeks. I’m hoping there will be an overwhelmingly obvious captain choice that week.

      That all sounds a tad vague I know but 29 seems reassuringly distant at the moment.

      If 31 is another DGW I will look to FH then (or TC).

    • Decent analysis this. I’m thinking wildcard now, get through 29 with 8 or 9 and free hit in 33

      • That’s if Spurs v Villa goes in to 29 as expected

      • What’s happening in GW 33, Smash? Another blank?

    • Good points there Otieno. I think a lot of people are putting all there eggs in one basket and it could hurt them.

      • It’s to early hitting wildcard as we don’t know what’s what with gameweek 26 yet

        • Not really as we know the fixtures just not where they go. We know who doubles and blanks on the whole

        • No, but we know GW 25’s fixtures and have a pretty strong idea of what’s likely to happen in 26 (and beyond).

          Unusually we have a sea of DGW to navigate and that’s why I feel WC now isn’t the worst thing to do.

          But why not spell out your strategy and enlighten us with your thoughts about that?

    • Thank you Otieno! Is GW 31 likely to be a (smaller) double?

      • No doubles in 31. Well not likely

      • We currently have 12 games which are rescheduled.
        7 from the FA Cup which will likely go en bloc to GW26.
        We already know SOT v LEE is GW25
        Villa v Tot seems almost certain to go to 29
        Villa v EVE I’m speculating goes to 27/28
        Which leaves the two games from GW31
        MNC v SOT should go to 27 because that’s the only guaranteed free date for City and the PL wouldn’t want to rely on MCI being knocked out of one of the cups. That does give SOT three consecutive double gameweeks in 25/26/37 so if you don’t have at least one saint get one now!
        That leaves TOT v FUL which I’m speculating should be the only double in GW32. Guess where my TC is going !

        So finally to answer your question, GW31 should be a normal week.

        • Please pardon the doublespeak.

        • I suggested that because it’s generally better to BB as close to WC as possible before your choices start getting injured. Also, probably not so crucial this season, but once the BB is played you can bring in the 3.8 and 3.9 players and spend the extra on your first XI

        • Thanks for your comment on the BB. i think I now understand-spread the money a little more evenly in the WC to ensure a decent bench-an important point.

        Southampton probable DGWs 25/26/27 not 25/26/37

        BGW for the league cup is 33 as Smash said not 31

        • And AVL v EVE is more likely to go to 28 than 27 because of TV scheduling

  6. Considering playing my WC. Team 1 is keeping Pope and Rashford over Lloris and Son and only makes 6 changes. But Team 2 is what I was thinking and makes 8 changes.

    Going with team 1 would mean a -4 next week possibly a minus 8 if I wanted to bringing Lloris.

      • White will likely have to become Burn or Veltman as Son drops tonight but Watkins will likely rise.

        • Are you really sure about that? Just checked on FPL Stats and there’s no mention of Son in their price change lists.

        • This is what I’m seeing.

      • If you are activating your WC I would have a placeholder in Son’s place just for tonight (e.g. Rashford), and switch him back to Son tomorrow when his price has dropped. Would give you an extra 0.1

        • That’s kind of what I’d be doing with team 1. I’m not really sure I’d want to sell Rashford right before playing Newcastle

        • It seems FPL have changed the way prices rise and fall slightly this year. FPL stats seemed more accurate in the past, but this year there have been some strange things happening. For example, Vardy was -0.1 last night, but somehow went up in price. Don’t know what it was on FF fix. Remember something strange with KDB’s price earlier this season too where his price changed seemingly out of nowhere.

        • Thanks for the tips people – as I was able to substitute Son with Harrison , thereby taking advantage of Son’s price decrease. Also got in Mr Daniel William John Ings, and will now be able to replace him (when the time is right!) with Steptoe (Harry K) for a 0.1 gain, rather than being short by 0.1.
          Won’t have the patience to play this ‘hedging’ game all week long, but this overnight manipulation put a smile on the old dial!

    • If wildcarding you might as well get two playing keepers as presumably you’ll be BB at some point.

      I have that front line (team 1 above) at the moment (for pretty obvious DGW reasons). I’ll probably swap in Cancelo at some point. Am not in a mad rush to get Kane just yet but may do so if getting him for 26 seems inevitable.

      • Oh sorry forgot to say I played my BB this week so don’t need two keepers
