A lunch time kick-off gets us going this week when Wolves or as City likes to call promoted teams, dinner, face off. That is followed by four 3pm games. Arsenal and West Ham tangle in a battle to save face, that is accompanied by the two worst teams in the Premier League matching up when Huddersfield welcomes Cardiff, about the only team the Terriers will feel like they can take any points off. In the other two similar time fixtures, the Vardy-less Foxes take on Southampton and The Cherries play host to Richarlison’s Toffees. Our Saturday finishes with Liverpool putting a half a dozen past Brighton in the late game.

Sunday brings us another three games. Watford look for their third win this new season when Palace drop in, the other two fixtures see Fulham versus Burnley and the heavy spending Toon go against Sarri with his high pressing, no defending side.

Our game-week is brought to an end when styles clash at Old Trafford as United see Spurs come in for a visit. Should be fun watching Jose rally his loyal troops to get all XI behind the ball, while Poch implores his side to not let them out of the back.

Shaw is looking good, I’m kind of regretting taking him out!

  2. 236

Lukaku has looked very interested since I’ve sat down to watch this.

    Smash says:

Kane has looked really slow since that ankle injury last season

So I am thinking of just benching Richarlson for the match ban. I think I can survive on my bench now that Wan-Bissaka is back. That said what is up with Arnautovic? Is he on knock so he doesn’t have to play tomorrow? Should I dump him for someone else given WestHam is the worst right now? Also considering a points hit depending on how DeGea fairs tonight.

Should I play my FT (0 INB), replace Richarlison and improve my Mid? Or save it for 2FTs next week and have a rethink? Jorginho, Bilva and Shaw all feel like possible problematic 1st teamers next week.

Alright, I’m officially out of denial and into despair on a season I would have taken more lightly.

    Pickford/Foster
    Bailly, Mendy, Robertson, Peltier, Wan
Salah, B. Silva, Richarlison, Mkhi, Stephens
    Aguero, Firmino, Wilson

    0itb, 1FT.

    Options:
    1) Richarlison to Walcott 0itb
    2) Richarlison & Bailly to Walcott and Monreal 0itb
    3) Richarlison, Bailly & Firmino to Walcott, Alonso and Mitrovic 1.8m itb (Alternatively I can do Peltier to Alonso and keep Bailly but I don’t think that’s a good idea). This allows for Peltier to Monreal next week.

The problem is Mitrovic plays against my keepers in 6 & 7 and Wilson plays against Alonso. The -8 is also taking a toll but can be managed long-term.

Ideas and votes? Need to decide in the next hour.

Firmino – Mitrovic / other and Peltier to Alonso is another thought, not that I’d advocate a hit.

      • zwischenzug says:

You’d keep Bailly? I’ve never had a bad relationship with hits. They are accounted for in their expected returns during their tenure.

1 is an issue as I can’t field a proper XI next week with Bailly, Stephens, and Peltier on the bench. I’m terrified by Alonso’s prospect and I would feel less uneasy owning him, even for a -8. Ah, the misery as life’s decisions seem simpler than FPL.

        • Kralin says:

          see other post re Bailly.

I’m half-considering a hit this week to get Alonso myself but will probably leave it until the international break. Not owning him is irrelevant in my mini-league, it just rankles that I can’t have him now (I could, it’s just I prefer Walcott).

I posted earlier that Alonso is one of the very few defenders who brings me out in a sweat when I don’t own him.

      • Kralin says:

Or in my fanciful scenario above ditch Bailly (and forget about Peltier until the wildcard); only just noticed he’s not even on the bench tonight.

        • zwischenzug says:

I read your comments and they’ve only fueled the demand to bring in Alonso. United’s performance doesn’t aid rational decision making either.

I’ll probably go for an emotional -8 against all odds. It will be interesting on a bet with low stakes. Never had a tendency taking emotional decisions, it’s even temping for scientific purposes.

        • Kralin says:

Don’t listen to the reptilian brain, Z.

      Smash says:

Probably option one. I’d see how United line up next game. I don’t think Bailly plays but Jones might be the most logical replacement. I know that’s annoying though

      • zwischenzug says:

Alas, the uncertainty will always loom. A United defense is a question for my future self. I think it’s only logical to let Bailly and I can transfer another player later in order to access a United defender (as I watch Kane’s goal).

        • Kralin says:

Yes, whatever Poch said at half-time seems to have worked. Blimey.

The United defence – cannier (or insane) managers will be buying in once player prices plummet after tonight’s débâcle. If any are left standing.

      inittowinit says:

1 is the safe and sensible pick and does allow you to field an X1 next week I believe.

I do like 3 also though! Not a fan of big hits and I almost certainly wouldn’t do it myself but it’s much easier to say do it when it’s not your own team smile

      • zwischenzug says:

C’est la vie smile Your temptation for 3 is soothing. Haven’t pulled the trigger yet but you know what they say; it’s absolutely no fun unless you give in to temptation, some of the time.

        • Kralin says:

          Delay your gratification, Z.

Let it all out with a huge bang in a few weeks. It’ll feel much better. Much more cathartic.

        • inittowinit says:

Sounds like your heart says 3 to me. Am I wrong?

        • zwischenzug says:

Ah, I love the smell of napalm in the morning. Overnight revolutions rarely resulted in good results. The delayed catharsis has swayed me. A dull Richarlison to Walcott. However, I am preparing the fireworks for the international break.

ps – Kralin, you are a risk-averse Mephistopheles. I can’t think of a single Oracle, demon or a spirit who has been good-willed, composed and prudent. Extraordinary.
