Fantasy football Trends From The Top – GW32
Welcome to this week’s edition of Trends From the Top. What are the leaders doing and what will they being doing? There are interesting weeks ahead and it will be interesting to see what are leaders are up to. Are they prepping their teams for DGW33 and do they have a wildcard in their back pocket?
Who was the most captained player by the top ten for Gameweek 32?
This week, 40% of top managers selected Aguero as their captain pick while another 40% selected Payet. One manager selected Arnautovic while the other manager selected a defender and got very lucky with Bellerin as their captain choice.
With the upcoming gameweek in which Everton and Crystal Palace play two matches, were there any signs/indications that our leaders were stocking up on strategic players?
In trying to find trends and gameplay reflective of the upcoming DGW, I couldn’t find anything. And actually, with the exception of Hennessey, no top player possessed any Everton or Crystal Palace players in their GW 32 squad. Having said this, our #1 leader had Coleman on the bench while leaders #5 and #10 had Hennessey on their sidelines. No players had Lukaku.
Who were the most popular players chosen by the top ten for Gameweek 32?
Goalkeepers: 30% of the top 10 played Courtois while 20% selected Gomes. The remaining managers played de Gea, Foster, Forster, Ospina and Hennessey.
Defenders: For Gameweek 32, only 14 defenders made the cut. Bellerin was the most popular as 8 of the 10 managers selected him. Bellerin was followed by Fuchs, Alderweireld and Huth (40% ownership), and Williams (30%). The remaining defenders were the following all with 10% ownership: Walker, Azpilicueta, Smalling, Otamendi, Clyne, Kolarov, Koscielny, Cresswell and Morgan.
Midfielders: When you look at midfielders, the top 10 managers had 9 different picks with several getting only 10% of the vote such as Wijnaldum, Coutinho and Silva. 100% of managers selected Mahrez, while 70% selected Payet, 60% Alli, and 50% Ozil and Sigurdsson. Arnautovic wrapped up the group with 40% ownership.
Forwards: This week, the front line consisted of only 5 picks among the top managers. 100% had Kane while another 90% had Aguero. Vardy was another popular pick with 60% ownership and Rondon and Berahino each came in with an ownership rate of 10%.
In summation, the Must-Haves for top managers for Gameweek 32 were Bellerin, Mahrez, Payet, Alli , Ozil, Sigurdsson, Kane, Aguero and Vardy as they all had an ownership rate of 50% or higher.
How many wildcards are available amongst the top ten?
All but 4 players have deployed their 2nd wildcard for the season. Players in positions 2, 5, 9 and 10 have their wildcards available.
Other interesting facts:
* The average score for Gameweek 32 among the top 10 was 74.8 points which is an impressive 27.8 points above average for the week.
* Players in the 4th and 5th positions have been in the top ten for over 17 weeks! Our #9 leader is new to the group and his impressive 90 points for GW 32 was most advantageous!
* Sweden represented 30% of the leaders (#6, #8 and #10) while England had 20% (#1 and #7). The following countries represented are: Ireland (#2) Bosnia-Herzegovina (#3), Australia (#4), Canada (#5) and India (#9).

next week i will play my bench boost and i will do lukaku>martial and mahrez>coutinho or firminho. and perhaps daniels>rojo or another choice, i dnt want to take daniels out because he’s playing villa..
im keeping siggurdson huth and kane as non-dgw players, because they are on fire.
Any advices plz?

Nauj, so you’re wildcarding and then likely taking an 8pt hit? That doesn’t make a lot of sense mate.
Yeh i’m agreeing with u on this point. But danielsl’s playing villa,dats y i’m thnkng of keeping him.

then i will have just lukaku>martial and daniels>rojo to make next week.

Nauj, I get you want to keep Daniels as he is playing Villa, but NIN is right in that the point of holding onto your wildcard is to maximise what you can score “over the DGW period” and I would include GW35 in that.
To take a hit to get rid of Daniels in effect means you can take 4pts off this week’s score – so he’ll need to have a monster week to beat the likes of Monreal, Rojo, Coleman, maybe even a Palace defender!
Either factor him into your wildcard or just bite the bullet on him. I’d rather keep Siggy (in much better form) than Daniels.
nauj – i’m wondering what the point of keeping the wc this long was if you’re not going to fill the squad out with dgw players. Surely the idea of keeping it this long is to be in the best possible shape for the big dgw… if so, and it should be, then a planned hit for the double to not even have 15 dgw’ers is a bit of a waste in my opinion. I would bin all sgw players so that you can have your 15 set for GW34 and bank 2 FT’s for the blank in 35.

Leaves me 3.2 Itb to bring in someone for GW35.
Could also do Monreal> Bellerin and Martin > Delaney Lukaku>Kane with 1.5itb

Rogue, you could turn Cech into DDG and then Martin to Gabriel?
Lukaku vs Kane? Kane for me but Lukaku will be owned massively these 2 GWs so if he does manage to perform you could suffer. I think that’s a big if having seen Everton lately – clearly they are not inspired for league games and only have the Cup semi on their minds.
Please note – my view won’t be consensus and the majority will say Lukaku is a must have for DGWS 33 & 34.

Rooney was meant to play for the U21s Monday but didn’t quite make it, their next match is next Monday. That’s the only football he will have had before GW34 so I think it hugely unlikely he starts GW34 – and I wouldn’t be surprised if he only featured for 30mins in whole DGW.
On that basis I am happy to recommend Rashford as a decent “punt” for DGW34 – he may not play 180mins but should get enough gametime to do some damage.
What happens from GW36 I don’t know.
Traditionally Rooney is slow off the mark after injury.

There is a guy in my mini league who has captained Toby 4 times this season.
I’m pretty certain that in 9 years playing this I’ve never once captained a defender. Or even considered it for that matter. Even with a nailed CS I’d still always play the probability of goals from MF or FWD over it.
I captained joe hart a few seasons back in a DGW and got 24 points I think!!
DDG captain in the DGW? Villa and Palace almost guaranteed clean sheets haha!
