Welcome to this week’s edition of Trends From the Top. What are the leaders doing and what will they being doing? There are interesting weeks ahead and it will be interesting to see what are leaders are up to. Are they prepping their teams for DGW33 and do they have a wildcard in their back pocket?

Who was the most captained player by the top ten for Gameweek 32?

This week, 40% of top managers selected Aguero as their captain pick while another 40% selected Payet. One manager selected Arnautovic while the other manager selected a defender and got very lucky with Bellerin as their captain choice.

With the upcoming gameweek in which Everton and Crystal Palace play two matches, were there any signs/indications that our leaders were stocking up on strategic players?

In trying to find trends and gameplay reflective of the upcoming DGW, I couldn’t find anything. And actually, with the exception of Hennessey, no top player possessed any Everton or Crystal Palace players in their GW 32 squad. Having said this, our #1 leader had Coleman on the bench while leaders #5 and #10 had Hennessey on their sidelines. No players had Lukaku.

Who were the most popular players chosen by the top ten for Gameweek 32?

Goalkeepers: 30% of the top 10 played Courtois while 20% selected Gomes. The remaining managers played de Gea, Foster, Forster, Ospina and Hennessey.

Defenders: For Gameweek 32, only 14 defenders made the cut. Bellerin was the most popular as 8 of the 10 managers selected him. Bellerin was followed by Fuchs, Alderweireld and Huth (40% ownership), and Williams (30%). The remaining defenders were the following all with 10% ownership: Walker, Azpilicueta, Smalling, Otamendi, Clyne, Kolarov, Koscielny, Cresswell and Morgan.

Midfielders: When you look at midfielders, the top 10 managers had 9 different picks with several getting only 10% of the vote such as Wijnaldum, Coutinho and Silva. 100% of managers selected Mahrez, while 70% selected Payet, 60% Alli, and 50% Ozil and Sigurdsson. Arnautovic wrapped up the group with 40% ownership.

Forwards: This week, the front line consisted of only 5 picks among the top managers. 100% had Kane while another 90% had Aguero. Vardy was another popular pick with 60% ownership and Rondon and Berahino each came in with an ownership rate of 10%.

In summation, the Must-Haves for top managers for Gameweek 32 were Bellerin, Mahrez, Payet, Alli , Ozil, Sigurdsson, Kane, Aguero and Vardy as they all had an ownership rate of 50% or higher.

How many wildcards are available amongst the top ten?

All but 4 players have deployed their 2nd wildcard for the season. Players in positions 2, 5, 9 and 10 have their wildcards available.

Other interesting facts:

* The average score for Gameweek 32 among the top 10 was 74.8 points which is an impressive 27.8 points above average for the week.

* Players in the 4th and 5th positions have been in the top ten for over 17 weeks! Our #9 leader is new to the group and his impressive 90 points for GW 32 was most advantageous!

* Sweden represented 30% of the leaders (#6, #8 and #10) while England had 20% (#1 and #7). The following countries represented are: Ireland (#2) Bosnia-Herzegovina (#3), Australia (#4), Canada (#5) and India (#9).

Hope this was useful!

Best of luck in Gameweek 33!

      Nicewon. Who you bringing in?

      • inittowinit says:

I had a brief look the other night and it was very very difficult! I needed budget players to fill the gaps and obviously there aren’t many of those left now! Think I grabbed Coman and a couple of others. A Wolssberg mid by memory. I have a starting 11 and no subs. Going to leave it now and jump back on once the line-ups are out. Any cheap goodies you are aware of mate?

        • FC Sanchez says:

I know, a real headache! What I did last season was keep a 3.0 defender and a 4.0 mid from the group stages so I can field a stronger team in the knockout stages, even though that meant having non-playing subs. I kept a 3.0 defender this season.

Nice find w/ Coman. Several pundits think he will start after having been rested this weekend w/ a slight injury. Might be a great punt with Bayern playing Benfica. If you want a cheap playing keeper, Ederson (4.0) will start for Benfica in goal as Julio Cesar is out. You’re prolly aware already but Rabiot (5.0) will prolly start for PSG (has two goals in the CL I think). A part from that, Bernat (5.0) although might be subbed or benched. Carvajal (5.0) although might not start (seems Zizou has gone w/ Carvajal more often than not though.)

          FC Bayern:
Neuer, Bernat, Alaba, Thiago, Lahm (C), Kimmich, Ribéry, Lewandowski, Costa, Vidal, Müller

        • FC Sanchez says:

Lucas Hernández starts for Atleti in defense and is 4.5 also.

        • inittowinit says:

Thanks mate, much appreciated. Although I’ve only just read it now! Just did my changes earlier in the end as I figured I wouldn’t be back on again until after the deadline, which I wasn’t.

    Fantastic Beka!

Scored 97 last week and raced up the standings in my ML. Thanks for all the sound advice on FF247!

Brought in Lukaku and Barkley this week. Is doubling up on Leicester defense a bit much, or should l drop in one of the Arsenal boys?

    • 15.1
Captain Dicky and His C Men says:

For me I’d start Bellerin in most games. Hes premium priced and even if Arsenal concede he’s bagging assists and goals galore. If Leicester concede (which they were lucky not to against Southampton) your stuffed.

    • 15.2
      NIN says:

I would leave both Leicester defenders in your team. So it’s between Toby and Bellerin as I see it, which is a pretty close call. Maybe leave as is.
