Right then, you’ve had your break….

The World Cup officially begins on Thursday June 11th. With 48 teams, 3 host countries and spanning 4 different time zones with 13 different kick-off times this could be messy. But let’s give it a try………

The Rules – in short

It looks very much like Champions League rules, in a roundabout way. The main takeaways are essentially;

  • $100m budget
  • Squad of 15
  • 3 separate matchdays for the group stages
  • Separate matchdays for each round thereafter
  • You can switch players in from your bench during each matchday
  • Likewise you can switch your Captain to your hearts content
  • Deadlines are kick-off times – good luck with that one!
  • There are a myriad of ‘Boosters’ to use

Basically you can find all the rules HERE

To get started you can login and pick your team by clicking this link

Fixtures

There are a lot, obviously. Too many to post up sensibly so instead you will have to settle for the groups:

  1. Goalmachine – Will my Gw1 points be added to my total in the Reg Lge at some stage? I couldn’t enter as Gramps as it was already used so I am in as Uncle Terry. Only my GW 2 points are showing.

  2. 20 points on Cucurella. Stick or swap to Mbappe, Kane Diaz or Bruno?
Had a terrible round and conceded about it getting worse lol!
    Thanks!

    • Concerned

    • I am sticking. But i only have Haaland olise or bruno as realistic options. Mbappe 12th man. U could roll the dice on mbappe.

  3. I have to say i was bit sceptical at first about expanded world cup with 48 teams and expecting more 1 sided games. But thats not been the case. Almost no ‘boring’ games, quite fast paced and perhaps with each team having a chance with 8 3rd place teams going thru, no team is just defending. There have also been just a handful of 1 sided scorelines and even the few. 0-0s have been entertaining.

    • Well, it’s kind of an extra entertainment with unexpected turns. Next week starts the original 32 teams WC.

    • So true! I am much enjoying the likes of Cape Verde, Ghana, etc. Japan looks good and the Netherlands looks like they could win it. So much enthusiasm and most entertaining.

  4. Messi missed a penalty. Dont have him but noticed no -2 for missing penalty. wacko

    • Yet he still scores a brace. On 5 goals already. What a legend.

      • Indeed yes

        • Mbappe is what 27? He could still obliterate the record.

        • Yes in future. But unlikely in this world cup. If he scores a hattrick now vs iraq, he could overtake this Wc too.

        • I hope he scores ten in a bit.

  5. 2 hour weather delay halftime should make things interesting for both France and Iraq. On my trip I had a brief discussion with someone at the bar about the polymarket bets on which match would be the first to be weather impacted.

    No I did not bet.

  6. Here is my wc draft for gw3. If england don’t beat ghana, will put Kane. Else Rashford or whichever mid likeliest to start if england assured of top spot. Gone for teams something to play for and assuming players like j Alvarez wil start.
