FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW3
The ‘W’ word…
Welcombe to FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW3. After a rather impressive 95pts in GW1 we were brought back down to earth in GW2 with a somewhat mediocre 52pts. We won’t complain though as it was 11pts above the average and resulted in a green arrow, lifting us to circa 83k.
Two of our defenders accounted for close to 50% of our points. Lucas Digne returned an assist, a clean sheet and two bonus points. Digne’s points were of no surprise to us. However, John Lundstram picking up a goal, a clean sheet and three bonus points led to one of the management committee hollering for doughnuts! Aside from a goal from Raheem Sterling the rest of our team did SFA.
We move onto GW3 with 2FT’s burning a hole in our pocket. Obviously we’re happy with the start we have made but we do have a number of concerns. With Liverpool yet to pick up a clean sheet do we need to double up on their defence? The form of Ayoze Perez is also a concern. While the form a certain ginger midfielder has caught our eye.
Our GW3 Result…
Let’s go see what was decided…
Our GW3 Transfer(s)
Wildcard. Must resisit the urge to Wildcard…. But everybody else is Wildcarding, KDB looks nice and shiny, Pukki is made of goals, Salah is dead, long live the Mane. Etc, etc…
To be fair we did resist, but it was hard and it was a fight. Especially given that at least half of the committee are on a Wildcard of their own. Why didn’t we? Well, we just couldn’t actually come up with that many (worthy) changes which would justify it. KDB seemed to be the main lure but ripping up a decent squad just to accommodate a player who will probably get injured again in the next few weeks just wasn’t cutting it.
Beyond that though we were a bit stumped, truth be told. We had 2 FT’s and £0.0m ITB, a few players we were unhappy with (looking at you Perez) and a few we coveted (KDB of course) but no real way of getting there without losing some other big hitters. So instead we lowered our expectations (and budget) and turned to the other apple in our eye; Martial. Priced at £7.7m and playing OOP (up top) for a Manchester United team who look like they may actually want to attack for the first time since Fergie left seems pretty alluring.
But we still needed to raise some dough to get him and as a result we turned our attentions to the other end of Old Trafford and new recruit Obi Wan Bissaka. Since him and Maguire have come in they do look a whole lot more solid and dependable and it took a wonder strike from wolves to breach them on Monday. But who to lose to accommodate them? Well, Perez, obviously. As for the defender involved we didn’t, ideally, want to lose Robertson but sitting with double Liverpool coverage at the back with them looking less than assured and with him being the premium priced one we had to wave goodbye to Robbo for a bit. We are sure we shall meet again one day…
To confirm then we have SOLD Robertson & Perez and BOUGHT Wan-Bissaka & Martial
Captain – Raheem Sterling. Vice Captain – Harry Kane
Oooof, this was a close call. Raheem edged Harry out by three votes to two. This may actually go against the grain when the final captain stats emerge on Friday night but we do feel that Sterling is almost approaching ‘perma capo’ status, such is his form. And we all know what ‘Arry did last season in some of these so-called ‘easier’ fixtures, Cardiff comes to mind. As does a phrase used earlier: SFA.

No Salah/Mane and you’re left behind most weeks (I think)! But who knows
This was for chins at 36…
thanks Zed! It makes me nervous but i can’t find much else i like.
Well, you play the game as you see fit, that’s the beauty of it! There’s nothing more boring that just copy the site team all the time!
Pochettino on Son: “I think he was training really hard to keep fit and improve in different areas. In the last few weeks he was unbelievable in the way he competed in every single session.”
Sounds promising
Yeah, he could wreak some mighty havoc from the bench as well, and after that he’d be nailed anyway!
Wanted some opinions on Jesus. I picked him up in the draft version of the game for Jota but as he seems to mainly be an impact sub is it worth getting Jota back?
I think the jury is still out on that, if Aguero’s minutes are managed quite a lot this season (as they might be given Aguero is getting old and he’s been injury-prone and all that) then Jesus might bag many goals… Then again Jota might bag a few goals as well, I think currently I’d favor Jota but Jesus will surely score more if he’s given enough game time
Pochettino wins the award for weirdest press conference comment of the season so far. When asked if he might experiment against Newcastle he said:
“Experiment? I’m not a scientist. I am not a chemist. You are talking about experimenting. That is in some room outside of this training room. We are coaches and we do our job, we don’t experiment. We train people that have the ability to play football. Then that’s it. Please don’t compare us with doctors or people in university studying a lot. I have a lot of respect for the people who do what you say, experiment, to help life, but for us to find solutions, only I am a football coach, far away from the people who work in science or at university. I have full respect for them.”
I guess that means no experimenting at the weekend, although only in the sense that he doesn’t intend to save lives against Newcastle.
Lost in translation 😆
The only way to get Martial with 0.0 ITB is to take a hit.Perez, Barkley and VVD out for Martial, D Luiz and Wan B. That leaves 1 m ITB which is still short of 0.1 for McGinn or Ceballos. To get one of those I could go for Maguire instead. Another option is to stay put and just use the FT for Pope-Heaton
Or king for Pukki?
Yeah, that sounds good as well, even both are in the same boat regarding upcoming fixtures. Then, this Pukki euphoria might fade away soon if turns up to be just a flash in the pan. We might even regret getting rid of Perez and Barkley for the next couple of weeks.
“Pukki euphoria might fade away soon”… What you on about? He’s Le Goat!!!! No Pukki, no party!! I even met him the other day, being Finnish and all, and then I woke up at the floor of my cellar (it’s rather moist and cold) :aikido:
ZL, maybe you are right about Pukki but I would rather get rid of Jota than King. He’s done f all so far and don’t be surprise if that continues on Sunday 😉
Jota has scored goals in all these other competitions, he scored again last night, and he scored well in preseason, don’t know why but I feel he should score soon in the prem as well! Tougher opponents perhaps, granted, but I feel he’s a player who will start doing well soon and I don’t want to sell him just before a purple patch!
That is true. It’s very likely that most of us will play the WC during the IB, so basically the trick is to pick the best for the next 2 rounds.
Fair enough, if you’re planning on using WC at 1st IB! I don’t know what I’m doing with it, just know that I won’t burn it just yet!
Don’t use a FT on Pope to Heaton Ivan, think you need it more somewhere else!!!
Another option is, of course, to lose Kane!
ZL, Kane is a must this week. He is the most appropriate captain option of all. Sterling is OK but he will be a must pick next week, of course if Kun remind us of what he is capable of then it will be another brand new bandwagon
Like Kane was a must last season home to Cardiff? 😉
No one is essential, but I had a vision earlier saying KDB will score big this gameweek
Well, who knows. I trained myself to avoid mass hysteria and crazy bandwagons, so will take a chance. That said, I am not sure why I had to have Salah and why he is still in my team
What’s wrong with Salah? :unknw:
Don’t know yet, we are about to find out soon :scratch_one-s_head:
All I know is last season I sold Salah and in the next game he goes on to score a hatty against Bournemouth 😀
 Hard to forget that, I was in the same boat. We might be regretting soon for removing VVD, Robertson and co
I’ll tell you a secret :secret: I ain’t touching the Pool lads just yet :bb2:
I am with you on that one, very reluctant to get rid of VVD just yet. Might look for alternatives
Don’t fancy Ceballos? Tough fixtures, I know, but man he’s cheaper than the liquor down at my cellar
True. If I was wildcarding today would have got him as a future investment before he goes up, otherwise far too soon with those two fixtures ahead
Talking about cheepos, that Douglas Luiz could be the hidden gem. Much cheaper than McGinn and Grealish with a long string of nice fixtures 😉
Pickford
lundstrom,coleman,TAA,zichenko,kelly
martial,ceballos,deondocker,streling,salah
kane,king, greenwood
what formation and who should i play this week?
Bench Greenwood, Dendoncker, and Kelly
