Form over faculties?
Welcome to FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW4.
GW3 was tough. Really tough. We brought in a couple of Ole’s babies and one eeked out an assist, the other sh*t the bed, to be frank. Martial got us 5 points for his troubles, Wan-B got us zero after a yellow card and a late goal conceded. Not every transfer decision can be perfect and Palace at home screamed clean sheet. In theory…

Wan-B’s defensive compatriots didn’t fare much better as they amassed 7 points between the sorry lot of them.

Our ‘left-field GW1’ pick McGinn got us an assist to keep things ticking along in the midfield budget basement. Our premium mids did what they do with Salah and Sterling (C) bringing home 31 between them.

Up top we may have some issues as Jota and Kane got two points apiece.

Overall we got 53 points, which was 9 above the average. It somehow meant a green arrow, albeit the tiniest of ones and we moved up 300 spots to sit at 82,365th.

Our GW3 Result…

Let’s go see what was decided this week…

Our GW4 Transfer(s)
Problems have been mounting as Martial has been ruled out, Walker-Peters looks likely to be so, our front-line is mis-firing, our back-line is conceding and even our sub keeper was getting so fed up with them all he buggered off on loan to Ipswich for the season. Now we could have ridden some of this but in all honesty a mini overhaul was on the cards and we wanted to jump on some in form players early doors before their prices prohibited us from doing so. As such we voted to WILDCARD this week.

As for our actual picks many (most) need little or no explanation as quite frankly it looks like a who’s who of who has scored the most points recently. We believe that is called ‘form’ though and so make no apologies for doing so. Our front-line is a case in point; it now consists of the three highest scoring forwards in the game. Chasing points much, you may ask. In all honesty no because they are simply the form guys and we wish we had had the hindsight to pick them all from GW1!

If you have further questions about the choices please feel free to ask them in the comments below and we are sure one of the committee will be on hand to offer any explanations but as we say it looks pretty straightforward as to the why bit in most cases.

To confirm then we have WILDCARDED

Captain – Ben Stokes Sergio Aguero
If we could have captained our hero Ben then we would have (many did in the Captain Poll!) but it was a toss up between Kun and Sterling and it could have been either way round really. We clearly feel that City may go on one this week, despite Brighton’s promising start. Kun edged it narrowly, Raheem will back up if Pep suddenly decides to lose his mind rotate.

    Form over faculties = WILDCARD!

Great stuff, guys, a very solid squad selection. WCs in GW4 will inevitably be “chasing the points” but FPL players, as you rightly alluded to directly above, rely on form. Barnes, for instance, has most of 2019 defending his case; his fixtures are largely fantastic too. Mount and Zinchenko both look great in the middle there.

I can’t wait to transfer in Agüero tomorrow! Even though Sterling will probably be my captain.

I swooped for Cantwell early in the week so I’m stuck with Tony Martial on the bench. Not inclined to take a hit and trying to save my WC. How am I looking for this week?

Nice wildcard team with three big hitters.

I had the funds in the bank to transfer out martial for kdb :hippo:

thanks for the article FF247 heros.
was on heaven in GW1 [89 points] & GW2 [72] then deep hell in GW3 [39], thanks to capo Kane  .
Any way to avoid WC here? thought of Kane & Robertson out for Aguero & zinchenko for a -4.

Hi all! Took a -4 and did Martial & Martinelli to Haller & Cantwell….now just gotta decide lineup! Would you bring Cantwell into the side over Barnes or Ceballos?
Feel like Ceballos is a bit of a fighter/winner and will be well up for the derby which should see a few goals plus on free kicks/corners etc so decent chance of assists etc.
West Ham v Norwich should see a few goals too with 2 attacking teams with poor defensive stats so Cantwell well capable of returns too although is playing away.
Barnes v Liverpool away sounds like the one to drop but he is on fire and Liverpool have conceded 1 in each game so far …if they do so again Barnes is likely to have something to do with it!? Hmm :scratch_one-s_head:

Hopefully those thoughts on Ceballos materialise. I’d leave that as it is. Barnes playing for sure. I benched Lundy when he pulled 14 points out of the bag, though, so perhaps it’s best if you politely ignore this and somehow play him…

      • RedKev says:

Ha cheers James, nothing worse in fpl than having big scores sat on your bench….well….other than suffering 5 weeks worth of 1 pointers after in the hope he’ll do it again!
….actually ….why have I done all these moves to improve my bench/get selection headaches/risk the dreaded ‘big points on bench’ scenario ?? :slaphead:

        • RedKev

          Decent moves first off.

Hard balance to get right. You want good reliable bench players but somewhere between not leaving 10 points on your bench every week but not having just 2 every week if you do need them, if that makes sense?

Your line-up looks fine to me and a good captain pick (I personally hope anyway smile )

        • RedKev says:

Cheers GP! Yeah was said slightly ‘tongue in cheek’ and am happy to have a decent bench really, despite the problems it can give you! Same issues obviously with the ‘2 x £4.5’ keepers but on the upside it’s all a good opportunity to get my T.V up too as opposed to having non starters in the team.
Anyway cheers for the thumbs up on the lineup …will stick as I am ….good luck both for this GW! :good2:
