48 points in GW20 and six above the average. ‘Meh’ about covers it.
Our team did secure a green arrow in the overall rankings this week moving up to 1,141,741 from 1,201,188 – 59,447 places. Woo. Hoo.
We know, we know! “It’s a step in the right direction” / “It’s no red at least” / “The correct side of the average”. Etc. etc. But come on this is boring. We want big scores, flashy jumps. In essence, we want to be the hare not the tortoise!
Not looking at it forensically this week – but we had FOUR players with a solitary point in Alex McCarthy, Vlad Coufal, Paddy Bamford and Harry Kane so thank goodness for Gundogan, Antonio, Grealish, Chilwell and Dias for pulling their weight and doing the heavy lifting for the aforementioned rubber ducks.
If only we’d captained Gundogan but can’t honestly say it crossed anyone’s mind…..

Nobody in our number fancies Kane does a Lazarus and starts on Sunday and with not much value to be lost if we need to buy him back, we thought we would dip into the market for a new striker. This one was as quick a transfer decision as has been seen within FF247. Two minutes quick, in fact:

Captain – ILKAY GUNDOGAN
With three quickfire votes for the German (and one member temporarily abstaining due to recent personal form), this one too was quickly done and dusted. We like City’s fixture, the midfielder is in scoring form and ‘could/should’ be on penalty-taking duty.
If Pep peps us, then BRUNO FERNANDES will step up as vice captain.

Would you rather have Saka + Antonio or Soucek + Watkins. Also what are your thoughts on Digne…Worth it over Chilwell?
Saka and Antonio
Also Digne over Chilwell since we still dunno how Tuchel is going to get this Chelsea team playing. Last match Chilwell was playing high up but without having a proper sample size of Chelsea under Tuchel, I’d be tempted to go for Digne instead.
Digne played OOP last match as well plus plum next 2 fixtures
Thanks. I hit the WC the other day so I am tinkering around. I could always get Chilwell back in later if necessary. I’m also thinking about Rudiger…he’s 4.5 and it looks like Tuchel likes him…worth a (cheap) punt?
Would you change anything here?
As of now Werner would seem like enough of a punt from Chelsea. I see you might be Chelsea fan so you might be tempted by that. Fair enough I feel FPL has to be fun too.
But from a neutral perspective. I’d try to change Rudiger to Digne. I’d do that by downgrading Cancelo to Stones and saka to a cheap 4.5 million midfielder since i doubt you’re going to realistically start him ahead of any of the other 7 attackers.
Other than that I really like itm especially the Werner punt. If it pays off it could be massive.
I’m assuming Sterling could become Salah anytime if you wanted since that’s the only fear I’d have. If Salah starts firing you need to find a way to get him back. Preferably if hou had some cash itb after these transfers.
I don’t mind the Rudiger punt if Chilwell becomes Digne.
Werner is another risk but if you have club ties etc. it may be worth going with.
I’d have Salah or Mane rather than Sterling though I think.
@FplDoc789 Many thanks a lot for that! Having a playing bench does mean a headache every week…not sure I can handle that! These moves do allow me to get Mane in for Sterling. I guess I could get Anguissa in for Saka and that would leave me room to get Salah in for Sterling…with 1.5 ITB

@GP You’d rather have Salah over Sterling this week or in general? I don’t think I can miss the man city triple up this week…Sterling can become Salah next week against Brighton

I think I would start Zouma over Justin or Bamford in the hopes he starts (Seems he either will or is a no show). Probably over Bammy, he’s had very little threat the past few games, and then Bammy as first sub.
Cap’n between Gündo, Salah and Son probably a toin coss. Looks good as is.

If Liverpool contain West Ham to a nil defeat then that’s two of your players blanking – for that reason only, I think I would go Bamford in the team with Soucek first sub.
Bamford. Although be ready for Soucek to bite you in the ass as he has done many times this season to many owners.
There was nothing to suggest that Bamford was a worse option than Soucek last week yet he was outscored by 14 points.
30 points last week, mostly due to not having Gundogan but Foden instead. Feels like chasing points but worth a hit to do Foden to Gundogan?…
Already doing Kane to DCL.
Shadow, its impossible to predict if that hit will work out. My gut says no.

Agree with Cookie. I think you’ve made your call for these few games and stick to it. Would just be sod’s law for Foden to get two this week.
Yeh I know that’s what I should do, just obviously tough seeing Gundogan rack up the points whilst Foden continues to be a ‘minute risk’

I’d do Kane to DCL and ESR to Son.
ESR would lose his place to Odegaard mostly so no point having him.
Really tempted to do that as well…IDK if I need another-4 though..
That’s my first choice atm – ESR to Son/Grealish/Maddison.
Tornado, personally I would recommend selling Kane for DCL and playing Adams over Smith-Rowe.
If we only knew more about Kane’s injury…I really hate Mou’s mind games. Why does he not think about us, the FPL managers?!
