Welcome to FF247 Site Team GW2

It wasn’t exactly a Bench Boost for the ages, but when only three quarters of said bench actually turned up, we were up against it from the start.

Our captain blanked, but then so did pretty much everyone else’s, so we’ll call that a draw. Five returns from ten outfield players and, looking at some of the carnage elsewhere, we count ourselves fortunate.

João Pedro’s 11 points did most of the heavy lifting, with Calafiori’s 9 and Szoboszlai’s 8 doing their bit to drag us towards respectability. Meanwhile, our supposedly boosted bench contributed a magnificent 10 points between four players — six of those from the goalkeeper and one of them not even making it onto the pitch. Money well spent.

All in all, not the worst start, but certainly a long way from the best.

We vowed to be more aggressive this season, hence throwing the Bench Boost down in GW1. We’ll let you know how that strategy worked out in another 37 weeks…

A Gameweek and Overall Rank of just over 2 million means things can only get better. But this isn’t our first rodeo, so don’t hold your breath.

As for GW2, we’re going to stick a pin in that aggressive approach and circle back to it at some unspecified point in the future.

No transfers. Same bench. Same captain.

Because if doing exactly the same thing and expecting a different result isn’t sound FPL strategy, we don’t know what is.
