GW3 – Triple Captain. Red Arrow. Obviously.
Despite playing our Triple Captain, we somehow still ended the week staring at a red arrow.
To be fair, Haaland did his part. 9 points wasn’t quite the monster haul we’d dreamed of when deploying the chip, but it’s also not the dreaded blank that can so easily accompany a Single Gameweek Triple Captain. Tripled to 27, we’ll take it.
The problem was, quite literally, everyone else.
Not a single return from the other ten players. Szoboszlai and Cherki scraped together a clean-sheet point apiece, Verbruggen chipped in with a save point, and that was about as exciting as it got. Our defence proudly served up a trio of two-pointers, while three yellow cards gave us the considerably less impressive achievement of a trio of one-pointers.
Ouch.
Just to rub it in, our two highest-scoring players outside of Haaland were Kinsky and Le Fée.
Naturally, both were sitting on our bench.
When it rains, it pours.
Still, it’s early days. Our 47 points came in below the Gameweek average, but only by four. And while the fall from 525,349 to 880,579 feels fairly brutal, we were only around seven points away from a green arrow.
The margins at this stage of the season are tiny. A return here, a yellow card avoided there, or perhaps actually fielding one of the players who scores some points, and the picture looks very different.
Two chips down. Two red arrows.
This aggressive strategy is going brilliantly.

Last week we sold Mbeumo (8pts) to buy Cherki (3pts). You really could write the script on that one.
But have we learned anything? Not really. Well, maybe that a good fixture on paper doesn’t automatically mean the goalfest you’ve already decided it’ll be. And perhaps that just because a player hauled last week, there’s absolutely no guarantee they’ll do it again.
So, standard FPL thinking then.
But have we really learned anything? Clearly not.
The new lad has let us down and has been promptly shown the door. There are sound reasons behind the decision, of course. Pep may be gone, but it seems the new fella not only looks like him, he’s inherited his penchant for rotation too. Either it’s a touching homage to his predecessor, or City simply insist on buying every good midfielder available and the resulting rotation is too much hassle for us to bother with.
Either way, last week’s new boy becomes this week’s old boy.
Morgan Rogers comes in for Chelsea’s ‘plum home fixture’, with us — and seemingly every other FPL manager — hoping Hull choose this particular week to revert to the whipping boys we all assumed they’d be.
We all know how this ends.
We don’t have Palmer, and we don’t want to heap even more pressure on the aforementioned new boy, so João Pedro gets the armband.
Let’s hope he doesn’t let us down because, as we’ve demonstrated this week, our patience is very limited.

I like it. You could derisk a little with fewer triple ups, but that would be boring!

Mitchell at CP is a good one week punt. Ipswich at home and off the back of a brace. Him in for white and you have 8.2 to change Gakpo.
I like triple Arsenal, but not all the back. IMO
You have loads itb but odegaard is in great form.

I couldn’t resist the WC. Plan on rolling an FT into the IB with 1.6 ITB for any tinkering. Anything you’d change? I want a route to Barcola if he starts firing. The Chilwell singing casts some doubt over Mitchell, but the fixtures are tasty so worth a punt I think. Barnes was Gakpo until recently, but the Newcastle fixtures are very appealing! And it’s nice to have some spare funds.

Very similar to my WC on the previous page, I would upgrade Mitchell you have money in Isak and Palmer if required because surely these are the only players you would consider to drop, Isak for someone cheaper, then Palmer for Saka negating Odegaard.
Mitchell > Muharemović is what I would do with the money, Muharemović is pretty much a season keeper for me, the same for Cala.
In anycase money ITB is useful but it is better to invest in players that will go up in price that you can either sell for a profit or rotate in, my WC I have done a week or two early due to the price rises, and i have £0 ITB.

I am on a WC too and also feel I need to have a few FT to roll.
Mitchell looks good next week but no so much after. I like the Everton lads, Spurs this week. But then two very good fixtures.

Mitchell has a decent run of fixtures for a little while now. Better than most anyway. Would you take Mykolenko over him then?
Also not certain on the keeper. Flipping between Bart and Kinsky.

I have given up rotating GK’s now, one reason was lack of funds but I have got a Brighton Def so I didn’t want Vbrug so just went with Kinsy and Dubra, Spurs have to keep getting better in defence and they do seem to be slowly, but if Kinsy does look to drop in price i’ll swap him for another £4.5m.

Currently on my WC and am sitting on this. I was thinking Gakpo over Odegaard but that would mean Barnes to a 5.6 and I’m not sure if that’s better? I would have like Mitchell from CP but can’t stretch the extra 0.5 needed. Thoughts?

My WC team is very similar (it is on the previous page).
You have a big risk with DeCuyper as a main starting player with Verbrug in goal, I have switched to a single £4.5m GK now, Kinsy and Dubra, if you want to rotate though that is fine.
Muharemović is a better option than Gvar imo.
Gross is okay, but who will you play him over, none of your Fwd’s and rotating Odegaard is a risk, I have him but if he gets dropped etc I will just downgrade to Tzolis he is much safer in his position, however his risk seems to be if he get’s a YC he’ll soon be subbed in case he gets a second, so you can drop Gross to a £4.5m bench (Slater seems the best) and get a better defender to rotate in over a midfielder if you have to change.
I am a bit biased because I used my WC this GW, but I am just giving the reasons why I have gone with what I have.

Great insight Terminators! I’ve had a little play around and it currently looks like this. Still gives me a two keepers, covers Mitchell for the next few weeks, 4 strong mids and strong front 3.
