FF247 Site Team & Predicted Line Ups Gameweek 28

Cast your minds back to last week if you can and you will remember that we played our first chip of the season (not counting the first wildcard) by utilising our Free Hit chip to set our team up for the double gameweek.

The headline is we scored 62 points which was 22 points above the weekly average which was, to all intents and purposes, a very good score. However as usual, when you drill a little deeper, your eyes are inevitably drawn to the captain and 6 points from a striker who played two games is a poor return so we say thanks to Wout Weghorst (6) – probably your first and last time carrying our armband mate. But cheers!

His fellow strikers were Armand Broja (2) and Harry Kane (11) – who was up against an embarrassingly porous Leeds (yeah everything is obvious with the benefit of hindsight!)

Elsewhere our other two Burnley players (surely a ‘first’ ever for that particular sentence?) let us down with both Connor Roberts and Ben Mee scoring three apiece. The Claret defenders were dragged up to a respectable level by Fraser Forster (6) and Joao Cancelo (9) in the backline. Ben Foster who was put in the Free Hit squad as an ‘in’ joke, actually scored 4 more points than his near-namesake.

The midfield was led by Son (9) and Foden (7), with Bruno Fernandes and Raheem Sterling bit-part players in the gameweek.

Daniel Amartey (8) can be found on the bench with his 2 bonus points and clean sheet but no complaints there – Leicester last kept a clean sheet when I was in short trousers.

We rise to 134,873 overall.

Our Gameweek 27 Result…

We have £1.0mln in the bank and 1 free transfer to use ahead of Gameweek 28. Let’s go see what was decided.

Our Gameweek 28 Transfer(s)

So, what do you do following the successful use of a chip? You use another one of course!!
Not wanting to lose the positive momentum that our FH has started we decided to dive in at the deep end and play our second Wildcard!

The decision was not overly complex and went along the lines of one member stating, “I suppose the first thing to decide is if we’re Wildcarding” quickly followed by another “I think we should” and then “I think you’re probably right”. If only we could so readily agree most weeks eh?

So what brought us to this decision? Well, the key factor is that we are simply not adequately prepared for this week’s DGW. A quick assessment of our squad revealed that whilst we had decent numbers for DGW29 (6 doublers – although that did include 2 keepers) and a healthy number for the blank in 30 (7), we were woefully light with just 2 DGW players for the coming game week. Time to shake things up.

The hardest part of playing a Wildcard this week (as some of you have no doubt found) is creating a balanced squad that covers 2 double game weeks and a blank game week. So how did we do it? Well, we worked backwards. Game week 30 will have just 4 fixtures, and whilst you can probably get away with a reduced complement, using your WC should mean you should at least try to arrive in 30 with a full 11. Thankfully, a lot of the teams with a game in GW30 also have doubles in either GW28 or GW29.

Salah, TAA and Cancelo were non-negotiable. None have a game in GW30, but the Liverpool lads both double in GW29, so that’s our GW30 bench sorted!

In nets, we’ve opted for Ramsdale. With a double in GW29, a fixture in GW30, and 14 fixtures remaining overall compared to say Sa, who has 12 he was a no-brainer. Foster was to be our backup- but a quick conversation about Bench Boosting (more on that later) and in came Dubravka. Going with the Newcastle stopper means that we not only have a keeper with a decent looking double this week, but we also get a second double in GW29, making an enticing Bench Boost look all the more alluring.

Three spots were open at the back, with arguably the best double on paper, a Chelsea defender was top of our list, with James only just returning to the Blues 11 he’s a wait and see, Rudiger would have been our first choice but with budget restraints we’ve had to opt for Tiago Silva. Silva has played the last 5, he may get rested for one of the GW28 fixtures, but with 5 days between games, we’ll be crossing our fingers that he gets both games. Next up we have the North London Ben’s; Messrs White and Davies. Both are cheap, both have a DGW29 and both play in GW30. Champion.

In midfield we retain the highly owned Bowen, he plays 30 and following that he has a nice run of fixtures that we would surely want him back for. Jacob Ramsey comes in thanks to his cheap price (£4.8m) a double in GW28 and a fixture in GW30. He’s also partial to a double-digit return or (hopefully) two. Joining him is Raphinha who doubles in GW28, plays Norwich in GW29 and also has a fixture in 30. Saka makes up our midfield 5. He ticks all the fixture boxes (Double in GW29 and fixture in GW30), throw in the fact he’s in good form, has 14 fixtures (where others have 12) and that those fixtures are actually very good and he seems the logical pick. It may be that we could have gotten away with the cheaper Martinelli, but there is enough rotation risk to warrant stumping up the extra £1.2m for the more game-time secure Englishman.

Up top, we have gone with the in-form Broja, who has a tasty double this week, although with no game in GW30 he’ll likely become one of the fall guys should we wish to put out a full 11 come that time. Joining him is Jimenez, who hasn’t exactly been pulling up trees in recent weeks, but he does have one of the best doubles this week, and of course, has a game in GW30. That it’s against Leeds is a bonus. Finally, we have Kane. He’s in form, plays an out of sorts Everton in GW28, double in GW29, and is probably a solid shout for the armband in GW30.

So, there you have it, easy peasy!

We will likely continue throwing around our precious chips with reckless (carefully considered) abandon come GW29. As it stands our GW29 bench will consist of Dubravka (double) Silva (plays Newcastle), Jiminez (plays Everton) and Ramsay (plays West Ham). Not the best Bench Boost in the world, but as of now, it’ll do for us!

To summarise, we now have 6 DGW28 ‘doublers’, 7 in GW29 and have 9 GW30 players with 2FT’s (hopefully) to take us to a full 11 should we choose to do so.

To confirm then we have SOLD half our team and BOUGHT a shiny new one

Whilst the allure of a double game week captain is strong, our Weghorst (C) failure is still fresh of mind. Salah takes our armband with Double Jimmy on VC should we need him.

Predicted Line-ups and FPL Team News Gameweek 28

Rather than clutter the site up on deadline eve with too many articles we have tagged our predicted line-ups on here.

As a quick reminder –

There are two versions of this article.

The one below has a drop-down version. It’s fairly idiot proof – you simply click on the small arrow to the right of the team name and you get a drop-down list of all the teams. Simply click on the one you want to see and hey presto, etc. This is the published article with the comments section to crack on with.

The other one is permanently live and has the ‘nicer’ grid layout. If you want to see that version you can click here. This can also be easily accessed at any time via a myriad of links on our homepage – Header link, Hot Topics link, Quick Access link on mobile and it is also linked towards the end of all of our regular articles.

What you see below is a live link to what Drafthound have on their website. Why is that significant? Well, firstly, it now means that the second they make any updates in reaction to live team news then they will also appear on here. Being uber helpful in that respect they also time-stamp all of their line-ups so you can tell to the minute when it was last updated.

As an additional extra if you click on any player icon on the team line-up that will take you to their own page on Drafthound, from where you can see up to date season stats, their upcoming fixture schedule and use a comparison tool to view similar players.

Given their time and effort in providing this content for us it would be rude not to occasionally click on the Drafthound link and check out their own fabulous content as there are FPL articles aplenty on there too.
