We pre-released our team on Wednesday evening, suggesting that we were just going to make one change. However, as you know, rumours of a hamstring injury to Chelsea striker Diego Costa were beginning to surface, hence we needed to wait for today’s press conferences to clarify the situation with him and indeed everyone in our squad after a busy week of Champions League, Capital One Cup and Europa League action. Jose Mourinho confirmed that Costa is “a big doubt” for the game vs Everton and hence we have decided to sell him, despite the injury not believed to be as serious as first thought. We could have benched him, but we have decided instead to buy Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge. This is a move not just for GW3 but for the medium term as Liverpool have a great run of fixtures coming up and we had no cover from them. For a team that has become free scoring, we felt cover in this area would be essential sooner rather than later and Costa’s injury presented us with the excuse to invest in Liverpool.
To supplement Sturridge we needed to raise 1mln and so we had to use our 2nd free transfer and we have sold Joel Ward and bought Newcastle’s Paul Dummett. We explained our preference for the Newcastle defence on Wednesday and although we would have preferred Daryl Janmaat, price dictated that Dummett was our only option.
Stevan Jovetic remains our captain for this week, with Gylfi Sigurdsson the vice captain.

After seeing di Maria, Mata and RVP start.. something tells me Rooney (C) might have been the right choice.

Can’t wait. This season will be awesome. Only sad thing about the EPL this season is that Suarez left, which is a big miss imho. Don’t care what people say and/or think about him. Also, no matter how much great players Pool will get none of them will be of the caliber of Suarez.
I took Mata out big mistake but I put Ramsey in no Ars cover so had to be done
Don’t get those type of transers in all honesty Silver. You do need Arsenal coverage but United’s fixtures are still awesome. Arsenals not so much, and Arsenal have been f-ing poor. Ramsey usually saves the day though.
