Fixture Tracker – Fantasy Premier League 2014-15
We’ve all seen a few different ways of viewing upcoming fixtures, and the one that has become increasingly popular over the last couple of years is the colour-coded one. With this, you can instantly see each team’s approaching fixtures with an accompanying colour that corresponds to the difficulty of each match. This is very useful for both identifying teams that are potentially about to have a great run due to a kind set of fixtures, and also identifying weaker teams that can rotate well, i.e. when one team has a bad fixture the other will have a decent one, so you swap between the two players. Many of these colour-coded tickers only show a few weeks in advance, which is very helpful for short-term plans, but not if you’re planning transfers for the long-term. It is understandable that these tickers are short-term, as teams’ form tends to fluctuate as the season progresses, so if you made a season-long ticker now, it may well not be a good reflection of how difficult a match is come Christmas or Easter. Who knows, maybe Villa will get off to a blinder and win 10 out of 15 (hahaha!), in which case a game against them would no longer be considered easy. Also, sometimes we may even disagree with the colour a certain match has been assigned by the fantasy football gurus that make the tickers! The ticker I have made is designed with both of these points in mind, and can be updated throughout the season as and when you see fit.
Customisable Tracker
Some of you may already have seen my earlier prototype after I posted it on the boards last week (much to init’s dismay :p ) – I have since added all 38 GWs to the tracker, modified the colours used and added a new custom search for individual teams, so even if you had the original please do use this updated version instead.
And it works like this: I have split up all 20 teams into four groups of similar ability, and then given every possible combination (of which there are 32) a difficulty rating of between A and E (5 difficulties as opposed to 3 for greater accuracy). Both of these factors are the variables that you can change, and doing so will automatically update the colours in your fixtures tab. Simply click on the ‘Variables’ tab as shown in fig.1, change any of the values in the cyan-coloured columns shown in fig. 2,
and you will be able to view your very own customised 38 GW fixture tracker as shown in the main image above. This is all explained in more detail in the ‘How It Works’ tab. Finally, I have made a ‘Compare Fixtures’ tab as well – this allows you to select only the teams you wish in order to see just how well they compare and/or rotate, without having the distraction of all 20 teams’ colours present. If you wish to use this tool then select the ‘Compare Fixtures’ tab and then click on the ‘Add Team’ drop-down menu as shown in fig. 3 and choose the team you want. You can do this with as many or as few teams as you wish. Though it seems rather simple, I found this last feature very tricky and would not have been able to make it work as well as it does without the help of Dreamers, so a huge thanks to him!
I have made the link read-only, so as to preserve the template in its original format for everyone in case the formulas stop working. Just save your own version of the file, and you will be able to customise it entirely as you see fit. Please bear in mind that this was made with Google Sheets and is intended to be used in that format so it can be saved in favourites for easy access; if you download it with Excel then the margins and borders will probably be off so will need adjusting. I am always open to suggestions for ways to improve it, so feel free to send me a message or post a comment below to that effect if you have any ideas. And finally, I have double- and triple-checked the fixtures, but there are a lot of them and after a point they all tend to blur together, so if you spot any mistakes please let me know as soon as possible!

full time: Zab may be rotated this season and their opening fixtures aren’t great. I’m also not keen on Baines, but one or two people will justify him as a guaranteed 7.0m pointscorer (~170 pts). I don’t like Wisdom or Dummett, as neither will play.
Gerrard for me is not the best option- Sterling if you want Liverpool is cheaper, and in amongst the goals more. Keep an eye on Young’s playing time. You have this site’s favourite front 3 too.
I’d honestly downgrade in the defence, pick 1/2 premiums (ManU, Chelsea, Debuchy are options) and then read the rotation article for the cheaper fill-ins- make sure they start! Stoke/Swansea is a good option. I would spend this saved money upgrading one of Young/Davis/Bojan.

No worries pal. Many of us have been picking over our teams for the past 3 weeks, so it’s fair to say some things have started to get set in stone almost- it’s quite dangerous haha! There are no 100% nailed 4.0m defenders yet that I’m aware of, which is partly why I’ve personally picked five cheapish nailed on players who rotate: Caulker, O’Shea, Coloccini, Pieters, N. Taylor. I had Duff of Burnley, but I don’t want a Burnley defender so to me that’s not an ideal solution.
I have the same front 3 as you (and many others!) but the idea is that Bojan rotates with my 5th midfielder. This is why one of the Bojan/Davis/Young trio on your team should be a big hitter, who will always play. But you could argue (though I’d disagree based on his fixtures) that Baines is fulfilling that role right now.
Sterling I hope will play full games, particularly with Lallana currently out.
What do we all think about Azpi starting again for Chelski? Backline of Ivanovic-Terry-Cahill-Azpi could be the starting defensive line up. And Cech as well?? Strange, if I were Mourinho I would try to play Courtois to get him used to playing with his mates. Or is Mou really wanting to rotate both keepers according to form and fixtures just to makes our lives more miserable haha!
The Chelsea GK position has me vexed so far, one won’t sign a new contract whilst he’s not number one whilst the other wants to be transferred if he doesn’t get it meanwhile Jose’s saying he’ll keep both even if it means one of them’s unhappy, it’s worse than Lukaku last season, mischievous git that Mourinho is.
@Andy exactly. Mou is so annoying. The team of course is stronger with both keepers but why should we care. We only care about our fpl fantasy points!

Howdi Burnsy I stopped on exactly 201 pages of book 2 “Blood and Gold”. Finally catching up with the show and seeing how TV kinda changed a bit of the plot…Usually reading out on the balcony when its sun. But the sun has made way for rainy days so have not read for a few days. So now I have to change my mental approach and just take a cup of tea and cuddle under the blanket and read ha! Too much info?

Had planned to bring in Aguero for him after a couple of GWs, but now I’m actually looking at a frontline of Rooney-Costa-Aguero. Hella expensive but could be worth it if all of them hit form.
Not much better out there, especially if Kun can stay fit. I’m having a mad moment and considering Giroud again!!

That would mean your MF has only 2 big players & 2 risks or light on def @mo got 3 big MF players but not sure right way to go

Pot A -with consisted of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th & the 2 best placed 5th placed sides overall, from each Q League
Pot B -with consisted of, Lowest 2 overall 5th placed teams, together with 6th,7th,8th & 9th

I think that I have decided upon DDG as my keeper.
Is it worth picking a playing 2nd keeper liked krul for 4.5 or go with someone like myhill for 4.0 bearing in mind that DDG is gonna be in my 11 most of the time? That 0.5 could be usefull elsewhere
Hammers, I think that will be a fairly popular strategy, certainly to begin with until people have got some transfer value banked to get a 2nd keeper.
hammers- I’ve done it. All I would add is pick a keeper who won’t decrease in value! Nothing worse than a 3.9m! (from last season, James Chester, I’m looking at you!)
Hammers, fair comment only 1 playing keeper, but not De Gea, United will leak goals, thiink Sir Chesney may be a better option.

I feel Bojan is a decent option IF you have a good option as a 5th midfielder who he rotates well with. For example Siggy or Shelvey of Swansea. I personally wouldn’t have him if you could not rotate him on this basis as o don’t feel he is good enough to standalone as a permanent fixture in a starting XI.
I could be wrong but that’s my view.
