Fixture Tracker – Fantasy Premier League 2014-15
We’ve all seen a few different ways of viewing upcoming fixtures, and the one that has become increasingly popular over the last couple of years is the colour-coded one. With this, you can instantly see each team’s approaching fixtures with an accompanying colour that corresponds to the difficulty of each match. This is very useful for both identifying teams that are potentially about to have a great run due to a kind set of fixtures, and also identifying weaker teams that can rotate well, i.e. when one team has a bad fixture the other will have a decent one, so you swap between the two players. For more info on rotation, check out Mito’s somewhat exceptional article on it 😉 Rotation Analysis Home and Away and Favourable fixtures
Many of these colour-coded tickers only show a few weeks in advance, which is very helpful for short-term plans, but not if you’re planning transfers for the long-term. It is understandable that these tickers are short-term, as teams’ form tends to fluctuate as the season progresses, so if you made a season-long ticker now, it may well not be a good reflection of how difficult a match is come Christmas or Easter. Who knows, maybe Villa will get off to a blinder and win 10 out of 15 (hahaha!), in which case a game against them would no longer be considered easy. Also, sometimes we may even disagree with the colour a certain match has been assigned by the fantasy football gurus that make the tickers! The ticker I have made is designed with both of these points in mind, and can be updated throughout the season as and when you see fit.
Customisable Tracker
Some of you may already have seen my earlier prototype after I posted it on the boards last week (much to init’s dismay :p ) – I have since added all 38 GWs to the tracker, modified the colours used and added a new custom search for individual teams, so even if you had the original please do use this updated version instead.
And it works like this: I have split up all 20 teams into four groups of similar ability, and then given every possible combination (of which there are 32) a difficulty rating of between A and E (5 difficulties as opposed to 3 for greater accuracy). Both of these factors are the variables that you can change, and doing so will automatically update the colours in your fixtures tab. Simply click on the ‘Variables’ tab as shown in fig.1, change any of the values in the cyan-coloured columns shown in fig. 2, and you will be able to view your very own customised 38 GW fixture tracker as shown in the main image above. This is all explained in more detail in the ‘How It Works’ tab. Finally, I have made a ‘Compare Fixtures’ tab as well – this allows you to select only the teams you wish in order to see just how well they compare and/or rotate, without having the distraction of all 20 teams’ colours present. If you wish to use this tool then select the ‘Compare Fixtures’ tab and then click on the ‘Add Team’ drop-down menu as shown in fig. 3 and choose the team you want. You can do this with as many or as few teams as you wish. Though it seems rather simple, I found this last feature very tricky and would not have been able to make it work as well as it does without the help of Dreamers, so a huge thanks to him!
I have made the link read-only, so as to preserve the template in its original format for everyone in case the formulas stop working. Just save your own version of the file, and you will be able to customise it entirely as you see fit. Please bear in mind that this was made with Google Sheets and is intended to be used in that format so it can be saved in favourites for easy access; if you download it with Excel then the margins and borders will probably be off so will need adjusting. I am always open to suggestions for ways to improve it, so feel free to send me a message or post a comment below to that effect if you have any ideas. And finally, I have double- and triple-checked the fixtures, but there are a lot of them and after a point they all tend to blur together, so if you spot any mistakes please let me know as soon as possible!
Click the link below for the file. Hope it helps a few of you, happy customising.
Fixture Tracker – Fantasy Premier League 2014-15
Afternoon folks,
Would love a bit of feedback, more or less set just unsure about Sanchez or Ramsey, Ramsey would free up some funds to upgrade a few defenders and possibly Albrighton to Hoilett. Other big one is Luis or Cahill, who seems most likely to be nailed on. Any and all comments would be much appreciated!
That’s a solid team Iwudja. Just be careful with Vito as one of the rotating keepers. Check back or twitter and see what the development of the Sunderland keeper is going forward. Hopefully Poyet will give us an indication on who he plans to play. Wisdom is looking like a starter in week 1, but no guarantees after that. Cahill or Luis? I will probably have Luis, but not sure anyone can give you a straight answer on that one. Can’t see Chelsea paying that much for Filipe to sit him on the bench. Overall though I would not mind that team at all in week 1.
Cheers Mito21, think I will chance Luis and bring in Chambers for Wisdom until the BFG is back, appreciate the feedback!
any comments/criticism on this team?
cheers
Will this be a 3-4-3 Chaz?
I think it is so here goes.
I don’t think Mirallas will start on GW 1 as he’s yet to be used in preseason so I’m concerned about his match fitness, you could downgrade Shelvey to a 4.5 back up mid and use that spare money to turn Mirallas into Fabregas (CFC), I think you’ll have .5 spare so I’d actually use it on changing Luis into John Terry as I think the Chelsea starting back four will be a tough call on the opening day, JT’s already scored 3 this preseason as well.
yeah thats what i was thinking with hoilett, mariappa and rosenior on the bench
Going off early fixtures and form I would personally prefer Cabella over Mirrallas. I’d also find another 0.5mill to upgrade Shelvey to Sigg.
Apart from that it’s a good team so long as Jovetic starts
What do you think guys?
I’d get more Chelsea players in with their opening fixtures.
There’s also too much uncertainty about who will start for City upfront for me to risk a position.
Apart from that I think it’s solid.
I’ve got nothing in the bank though so which Chelsea players would you suggest?
If it was me I’d downgrade Eriksen to Sigurdson and upgrade Jovetic to Diego Costa
Dzeko*
Good thinking! After seeing Spurs line up, Davies has had no pre-season. Get rid of him or just sub him for Chester for GW1?
If you guys could only have one of Sanchez, Hazard or Yaya who would it be? Without any concern for who else is on the team.
Sanchez as he could be playing up top alongside or instead of Giroud. I think he’ll get more goals than the other 2 over the course of the season
I’ve gone for Sanchez so far from that three only because he might get game time up front, Hazard’s done little in preseason so far but Yaya has the X factor in spades, if he scores in the Charity Shield I’ll probably pick him.
Yaya, Hazard, Sanchez in that order.
Hazard, Yaya, Sanchez in that order.
Hazard has already proven himself over the last 2 seasons and im expecting a haul of assists with a decent striker up top.
Yaya is too much for me personally, i don’t expect him to (dont want him to) do as well as he did last year. If he’s still taking taking pens and free kicks with Aguero in the team, i may reconsider.
Sanchez is last because i’ve yet to see him play. Community Shield will hopefully shed some light on it.
After the first 5 weeks, hopefully I will be able to have them all though!
Mito – Hazard to start off with, then YYT after 6 or 7 gwk’s.
Pantilimion has started again for Sunderland today, I’m going to guess that he’ll be the SAFC keeper on GW 1 but it’s still going to be a tight call with Mannone.
Wickam scored a pen and the new loan signing has an assist and a goal (Vergini)
Lukaku and Mirallas still not making the Everton squad at all in their friendly game.
Alright, here’s the updated team after some discussions yesterday. I think this is good enough for the first few games. Thoughts? Concerns?
Cameron still needs replacing Black as it looks unlikely he’ll play, possibly for Coloccini so that you can rotate with O’shea or for a team that rotates with Palace’s Ward, the starting eleven looks strong barring that, it looks like little point production from your bench but you know that right?
I do and that’s why I said I think the team is good enough for a starting few games. Would you do Vlaar or Ferdinand or Coloccini for Cameron? And any recommendations on the rest of the bench?
Ferdinand could be a good call as QPR look to rotate well with Palace, keep an eye out for the Gallant Pioneer’s article this week, I think he may be doing a piece on probable starting line ups for GW 1, we might find some good budget options then as I’m looking for them to
Will do, thanks
