Grab, Avoid or Bore off!
Welcome to the opening instalment of Grab, Avoid or Bore off for the 2016-17 season. Lovely to be back with you the wonderful FPL community and guess what I have in store for all of you? The same 3 fellas who always do it…well, that was an exciting announcement. Much like Wenger, I don’t like to spend money for any new strikers, so no need to break up the 3 Amigos. Unlike Wenger’s crew, this trio of attacking talent always delivers the goods, sort of. Showing that they haven’t lost a step and have all the important nuggets of information you all desire, they reveal to us things like Cahill is Cahill (shocker), that Kop is actually Mr. Excitement, that I might have a soft spot for Costa, that Cookie is absolutely ready when it comes to cheap strikers and that Init has figured out the Italian secret for preserving ageing defenders. Yes!! Yes!! With that kind of info, you certainly can’t afford to not read up and get yourself ready for the upcoming season. So without further ado, bring on Bore off!

So looks like Stones might be closer to his City move
Hey Smash10 do you thk he will start ???
Yeah I think he will start along side Kompany when fit. Pep needs a ball playing CB.
Sounds like it Smash. Not really surprised. Slightly disappointed from an Everton POV but wish him the best of luck all the same. Hopefully he can now fulfil his potential. On the plus side at least we’ve got Koeman picking a replacement and not Martinez….
Best rotation partners for teams who have a 4.5 keeper/defender starting. West Ham was not included but, if they do have one start they would be good partners for, West Brom, Bournemouth, Palace, Boro, Stoke and Burnley. Made it simple, green for a fixture I wouldn’t mind playing one of my guys against a team and red if I would rather avoid.
Basically, City, United, CFC, Arsenal, Leicester, LFC, Spurs, West Ham, Southampton and Everton were categorized as hard and the rest easy.
The rest.
Very handy Mito. Thank you.
Are these going up above in the fixture tab?
Well if that’s really Init up there, he is probably already doing it. 😉
Did you lose your logins during the switch 😉
Thanks mito. Very handy. And my Mrs thinks I spend too much time on this 😉
This is brutal mito. You’re a true and living legend. Unless you are still living In the old server, this being a projection of Our minds’s memoreis of you.
So Palace/Sunderland cover all the first 8 gw. Hummm
But will they keep a CS? Hummm
Would lean towards Boro/Stoke or Sunderland / Boro based on this. Much appreciated mate. Top stuff.
I’ve managed to tweak things to include firminho. Thoughts? I’m closely monitoring stones’ move, and still very tempted by JT too.
I’d say that’s a mightily strong team. Especially for one with Zlageuro. Would you consider a GW1 alternative to Carroll with a better fixture knowing that he could be your GW2 transfer in?
I’d defo monitor the Stones situation too, they just bought themselves an extra 10 goals conceded this season until Pep can teach him to concentrate
Cheers init. Yea I’m not entirely convinced with Carroll. I’d like to see berehino sign for someone who can keep his dummy in. There’s lots of options in the 6.5 bracket. What do you reckon on JT? 12 months ago we’d all be snapping him up at 5.5!
I reckon he’s nailed on for starters. If they go 3-5-2 / 5-3-2 I reckon he’s a great pick as it eliminates the lack of pace issue a bit which clearly him and Cahill bring in a 4-4-2. Conte will have organised to the N’th degree and I wouldn’t be surprised if a double Chelsea defence tactic becomes popular before too long.
What 3 would you pick from Gabriel, Sagna, Walker, JT and Stones (assuming he’s a city player)?
@BJmaker, Just pick the 3 cheapest ones from those.
That would be Gabriel and Stones then. To avoid doubling up on city, I’d then need to pick between walker and JT… hmmm.
Wow, take a break from packing up the house and there’s an epic GABO article, a beautiful Lionel Richie chorus and some super handy defensive rotation charts from Mito. Feels like I hit the lottery, thanks fellas!
Evening all
OK my team with Ibra – if i take this route!
Thoughts?
@MadHatter, not a bunch to punch at there, but seeing that you asked I will go ahead and throw my worthless opinion out there. I have long been known for being a Willian hater. I did a mids chart last week and I forgot to include him 😉 but if I had included him, he would have landed like 17th out of the 19 compared in terms of production last season for his time on the pitch. There was even four 7.5 mids who did better, Ayew, Siggy, Tadic and Arnautovic. Having said that, I see CFC’s fixtures and can see why someone would go with him. But I really do hate him…let’s move on though, the obvious big hit you take is having to use Drinkwater as a 4th mid. Are you not better off dropping Drinkwater to a 4.5 mid and upgrading a defender to play 4 in the back? There was 12 defenders who outscored him last season and most are probably attainable on top of any others who would feel like a better investment of your money.
Pretty sure that teams, such as mine atm, with Zlatan, Kun, Miki and Kevin cant play with 4 decent mids. In that light, those 4 probably mean 4-3-3 as the default system. In other words, I agree with Mito here. Dowgrade both Willian and Drinkwater and upgrade In defense.
Evening Folks! Just completed my first draft, any advice appreciated!
De Gea Jakupovic
Coleman Sagna McAuley Pieters Smith
Ozil Coutinho Siggy Bolasie Hojberg
Aguero Ibra Gray
@JMD, last word I heard was that Ozil would be unavailable or would be rested for GW1, whatever people want to call it. If he starts, there is not much to complain about there. The West Brom/Stoke combo in the back rotates really well and the rest look fine to me. If Ozil starts I be willing to roll with that.
Thanks for the heads up Mito, I’ll keep an eye on the Ozil situation.
I’m not sold on Gray just yet but then I thought that about Deeney and Ighalo last season for the same reason – promoted team, new to the league etc. Does he take their pens and FK’s? I’ll go check now actually.
Yeah he’s on pens. Still not convinced though!
Cheers Init. He’s been scoring consistently the last 2 seasons in the championship, on pen’s and a nailed starter so I think I’ll take a punt on him!
He’s scored 5 in preseason i think too
