Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! – Fantasy Premier League 2017-18 Part 2

Part two of our GABO series sees three more of our writing team come to the party and attempt to tackle the same questions that Mito, Init and Kop answered. Again, they need little introduction as all three are very well known to you all as they are always seen on site commenting, helping or advising. Or recommending Dusan Tadic or Aaron Mooy.

Leading the pack is Gallant Pioneer. GP, as he is more commonly known to us is having the season of his life and is set fair for his best ever FPL ranking. Yet he is always willing to help others and write when called upon. Oh. And he loves Dusan Tadic.

Rosco is one of our resident Geordies but is most loved for his gravatar of Flash from Dukes of Hazard. He’s a great lad, offers advice to all who ask and has a great footballing brain… for a Newcastle fan. But we love him most because of Flash. You will later too, one of those images you will never get of your mind again… two men in a shower with a dog. And another sat on a chair watching. Or something along those lines. Read on…

Bringing up the rear is Liverpool fan (how ironic) Matt. Despite some strange Captain recommendations, Matt is another consistent performer and like GP, could well be on course for a best ever FPL ranking.

Let’s get down to business and see what today’s panel have in store for us…

    Guys I’m thinking of bringing robertson and Erik for otamendi and Pogba. And then the following week changing kun to Kane and Mkhi to shaqiri. Any thoughts?

    Had a nice break from FPL this weekend, lots of talk of my dog on here, so thought I’d share my non FPL Sunday!

    Drove down to Hornsea with my youngest dog Neville to celebrate his first birthday with his mum siblings and wider family! I’m the last bloke on the right for those who don’t know me!

    WIll probably post a variation of this about 5 times before the deadline but interetsed to hear any early thoughts from anybody here.

    2 FT, £4.2m in the bank, which of these to do?

    a) Ladapo + Hazard -> Kane + Shaqiri
    b) Ladapo + Hazard + Alonso -> Kane + Walcott + VVD (-4)
    c) Ladapo + Hazard + Sterling -> Kane + Mane + Deulofeu (-4)
    d) Ladapo + Son + Alonso -> Kane + Shaqiri + Robertson (-4)
    e) Ladapo + Hazard + Son -> Kane + Mane + Fraser (-4)
    f) A variation of the above eg. Walcott can become Shaqiri/Deulofeu, Shaqiri can become Deulofeu
    g) Surprise me

    Thanks all (if you can bothered to think about this 😀 )

    I’m thinking of getting rid of Sterling for Son or Walcott or should I be letting Kun go already have Kun ???

    • 46.1
      Mr Bean says:

      Don’t think Son is going to be a regular starter from now Silvers. Wouldn’t drop Sterling for Walcott either.

      • NZ Alex says:

        Hey Slivers, how are you pal? I agree with Bean, Who else could you sell? Sterling has nothing to warrant being sold!

        • Silvers says:

          Alex How are we mate you looking after yourself , I’m stuck as to get rid of Kun or Sterling there fixtures aren’t great and I’ve got an eye on GW 31 to try and get at least 7 players 😉

        • NZ Alex says:

          I’m very well Sliver and yourself? See below for some ideas on my team which may help with yours. I’m seriously tempted to sell Kun. Seems silly after a 4 goal haul but trickyer fixtures (although the gunners defend like a pub team at times!) but even so it’s away from home and Jesus could be on the horizon. I think I’d prefer to realise the funds in Kun as Sterling still offers excellent value.

    hey guys,

    I’ve played my wild card and my team and GW31 is very much in my thoughts. Between gw28 and 31 ill avoid using any my transfer to remove so of the gw31 players. I feel i have a good balance between having a good team for next few gameweeks and fielding 10/11 players for BGW. would anyone do anything different?

      saloba11 says:

      Keepers
      Begovic and Cech

      Defender
      Montreal, Davies, Daniels, Martina, Schindler

      Mids
      Salah, Mané, Shaqiri, Walcott, Fraser

      Forwards
      Firmino, Kane, Vardy

      • Silvers says:

        Very good team saloba11 & well set up for GW 31 you must have robbed some cash to get this team good stuff mate 😉

      • NZ Alex says:

        Saloba, Nice team. Have you calculated your players for 31 and what your plans are for your remaining chips?

        I like the triple up on Pool attackers and am toying with the same!

        • saloba11 says:

          Thanks for the replies guys. For gw31 i’ll have 11 players as i’ll transfer vardy out for either niasse, benteke or wilson. Thats the only transfer im looking to make which then allows me 2 FT after gw 31 to set up team for DGW.

          NZ Alex ive still got my TC and BB chips so will be lookin to use them for dgws. Im 39 points behind my main rival so hoping using my wildcard early will allow me to go well ahead after gw31.

          Do u think begovic is the best option for cheaper gw31 keeper? its between foster, hennesy, llosl and begovic. What imlike about begovic is good gw28 and gw31 fixtures whilst cech cover for all remaining fixtures.

      • Mr Bean says:

        Saloba,

        With this team, you would have 11 GW31 players, but only 4 DGW34 players.

        If you have 4 FT between these gameweeks, I think you could be falling short of a good GW34 team, with Chelsea, United, Swansea and City (kind of) all potentially having good DGW fixtures.

        • saloba11 says:

          Mr Bean, thanks for this will reassess to to try and have a balance between gw31 and gw 34.

        • saloba11 says:

          Can someone please confirm what teams are likely to have DGW for gw34. Thanks

        • saloba11 says:

          based on this probably likely to swoop out Schindler for swansea defender and just keep Vardy for gw34. id have 5 FT for GW 34 which will mean 9 player for gw31 and a minimum of 11 for gw34.

        • Mr Bean says:

          Its more something to consider than to change at the moment, just in case some of the rescheduled fixture are announced between now and Saturday.

          The assumption is that all of the GW31 blanks will be rescheduled for GW34. I’m not sure how true this will hold – they could just as easily all be rescheduled for GW37, with GW35 blanks rescheduled for GW34.

          Just keep an eye out over the week and adjust if necessary. Can’t argue with the GW31 team of 11.

        • saloba11 says:

          Nice one thanks.

          Im undecided between niasse and mahrez or Vardy and Fraser, any suggestions? i like vardy given that hes on pen and is on form.

    NZ Alex says:

    Evening all, how goes it? Cracking article lads, really enjoyed it (especially the dog bio at the end!).

    Soooo what are the plans for 31? My team is attached with 2FT’s and 0.7 ITB and I have a few ideas what to do. Considering the following:

    1- Mane and Firmino in for Lingard and Kun.
    2- Lingard and Alonso to Mane and Zanka
    3- Quaner, Alonso and ECM to Firmino, McArthur and Mariappa (-4)
    4- Quaner, Alonso and Otomendi to Firmino, Francis and Robertson (-4)
    5- Anything else I’ve missed!

    Cheers lads and lasses.

      Nice Team Alex, Perfonally one of the main reason i played my wild card because i had a very similar team to your self and too much fund wwhere spend on defence. Id look at replacing ota and alonso for Davies and VVD. id even consider mane for sterling for either a hit or wait for gw29. Call me mad but ive sold all my man city assets. Aguero sterling and ota. Good luck

      Mr Bean says:

      I like A, but I also like Cookie’s suggestion as well, tough to choose between them.

      Doesn’t seem to be much love for Mane over a Pool defender on the site but his CL hat trick is a reminder of his potential.
