Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! – Fantasy Premier League 2017-18 Part 2

Part two of our GABO series sees three more of our writing team come to the party and attempt to tackle the same questions that Mito, Init and Kop answered. Again, they need little introduction as all three are very well known to you all as they are always seen on site commenting, helping or advising. Or recommending Dusan Tadic or Aaron Mooy.

Leading the pack is Gallant Pioneer. GP, as he is more commonly known to us is having the season of his life and is set fair for his best ever FPL ranking. Yet he is always willing to help others and write when called upon. Oh. And he loves Dusan Tadic.

Rosco is one of our resident Geordies but is most loved for his gravatar of Flash from Dukes of Hazard. He’s a great lad, offers advice to all who ask and has a great footballing brain… for a Newcastle fan. But we love him most because of Flash. You will later too, one of those images you will never get of your mind again… two men in a shower with a dog. And another sat on a chair watching. Or something along those lines. Read on…

Bringing up the rear is Liverpool fan (how ironic) Matt. Despite some strange Captain recommendations, Matt is another consistent performer and like GP, could well be on course for a best ever FPL ranking.

Let’s get down to business and see what today’s panel have in store for us…

I know we have an article up on planning for GW 31 but can I have some thoughts on using WC & Free hit when to use and why. Why are people trying to get players in for GW 31 now rather than use FH then use WC for DGW ????

I’ve already used my free hit. I managed to get 82 points that gameweek and i dont regret using it but do wish i still had FH chip as ive had to use my WC earlier than id hoped.

I feel if you have used FH chip best way to prepare for gw31 is by using wildcard. Get in the essential players, save transfers and use these transfer to get players for DGWs. For eg. l dont think you can go wrong in loading up on Liverpool assets especially as they have a great run prior to gw31.

I think the most common plan is:

      WC – GW 32/33
      BB – GW34
      FH – GW35
      TC – GW37

Keeping the FH chip beyond GW31 could be very valuable as the FA Cup Quarter Final draw means it is likely that Man City, Man United, Spurs and Chelsea (or Leciester) blank in GW35.

These 4 teams will also (probably) have DGW’s in GW34 and GW37 meaning you will want players from these teams in both of those gameweeks, but have a method for ‘getting rid off them’ in GW35 when they all have no game – FH is the best way to do this. A team with 7/8 GW31 players (3 Pool, Salah (c) Shaqiri, Walcott, and others) shouldn’t lose be too far off a full team of 11, so the FH seems wasted in GW31.

Another way to tackle the blanks/doubles would be:

      FH – GW34
      WC – GW36
      BB – GW37

I think this could work particularly well if you have already used your TC. Effectively you would plan your GW35 team from now until GW33, and use the FH and WC to attack both DGW’s individually.

Wow! Wigan were barely in it but they won

Think this is the 3rd time Wigan has thrown City out of the FA Cup !
They are also only the 3rd team to beat City this season (CL – Shakhtar ; FA Cup- Wigan ; PL – Liverpool ).

    Evening all smile !!
