Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! GW8 The USA Edition

Welcome to the Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! GW8 USA Edition article. Having heard what our European writers have had to say about their own FPL seasons , Change of plans, the American contingent finished their part of this double edition of GABO first (just like the Ryder Cup), so we will go with them. Don’t let this put you off though laugh We jest of course, because we know we have a good many regular site member from ‘over there’ and they all clearly know their stuff. They follow it as avidly as we do in the UK and in many cases are actually proving to be more successful. We here at FF247 love playing their game – MLS, and we would like to think we have had a fair degree of success in doing so. Except when we completely miss the deadlines! Do they have the same issues, what are their takes on our league and their fantasy game in relation to ours and how are they faring this season so far? Let’s go find out…

Hey guys, this is my team currently with 1FT and 0mil itb. I am thinking of transferring Foster -> Grant and Antonio (or Lallana if he’s confirmed injured) -> Son for a -4 point hit. Good idea??

      inittowinit says:

Do you need to do the keeper one to afford the other? If so then I’d reluctantly say it makes sense all round. You don’t really want Foster for any of the next 4 games and Pickford’s aren’t a great deal better even if he recovers.

      • Nosaj says:

Yep, I need to do the keeper transfer to afford the Antonio -> Son transfer. My other options were to downgrade Baines, PVA or Lallana but I decided that I should downgrade Foster instead given how bad West Brom’s fixtures are for the next 4 GW’s

    Good Morning everyone!

Pretty happy with my overall ranking (546). For the nexxt gameweeks I plan to bring in a Bournemouth player and thought of Joshua King. But is he nailed on? Came from bench last game…

In GW4 I wildcarded and bought Benteke for 7.4 and Costa for 9.8. If I sell Benteke I get 7.5 as he is 7.6 to buy now.No problem. If I sell Costa then it says I get 9.8 where he is 10.1 to buy.Should I get 9.9 now and if he goes up to 10.2 I would get 10.0?

    Nice and fun article…
I like the 5 pts for hitting the crossbar :smirk:

I have 3 flagged player: Pick / Lallana / Sterling
i will hold my FT after IB, but what are your thought about them?

Feel like I have a bit of a headache for next Gameweek,

Any tips on how to wisely spend my £2.5m ITB and 1 FT ?

My defence doesn’t seem to pick up any points.
    I have 2 Liverpool midfields
    Capoue is useless now
I want KDB back when he is fit.

    Thanks

I am not sure if that is a very bad team
      Hold your transfers for now.
N Capoue will come good. He has the fixtures on his side
But again doubling up on Watford’s attack might seem too much.
Save the funds for KDB I say

      inittowinit says:

Hi Beno, maybe turn Amat into an Arsenal defender if that’s possible? And play him over Williams this week. Having an Arsenal and a Spurs one to play most weeks is a fairly sound foundation then and having an Everton, Bournemouth and WBA one to rotate feels like a decent plan. If you could at some point switch Barry into say Fer then being able to rotate between him and Capoue should be a decent option too. You’ll just have to deal with KDB when he’s back up and running.

      • nishant says:

I might take this as a tip. Cheers Init
        😉

      • beno1234 says:

Thanks Init really appreciate that feedback
I can afford any of the Arsenal defenders for Amat – perhaps Kosc or Bellerin ?
        I also think I need a better goalkeeper?…
Think its worth holding on to both Firmino or Coutinho or do I need to ship one of those as priority?

        • inittowinit says:

I’d probably take Bellerin given a free choice but I think he’s 0.5 more without checking.

Yes the keeper situation stood out as needing a remedy but it was a bit down the list.

No harm in keeping the 2 Liverpool mids, it was only 2 weeks ago everybody wanted 3 of them smile

      • beno1234 says:

I think the 0.3m saving and Kosc goal threat might be tempting me toward him. Conscious I will need the funds for my midfield / goal keeper. Any value in Monreal?

True with the Liverpool mids, think its just the impending united fixture putting me off (united fan!)

      RedVT says:

Hey beno, that defense doesn’t look all that bad to be honest, although an Arsenal defender would be slick for their nice upcoming fixtures. Agree with you about Capoue, I don’t think he’s going continue with his points and wouldn’t want him as a 4th midfielder.

I’d keep either him or Barry and use them as my 1st sub, and upgrade the other to a player with more points potential. I’ve gone with Snodgrass as my 4th with Capoue 1st sub. As far as KDB goes, that’s going to tough to fit in with the other premium players you have. Personally, I’d rather have Sanchez anyway.

      • beno1234 says:

        thanks for the response Red!
I am leaning towards an Arsenal defender but its going to eat up those funds for improving my 4th mid…
I think KDB is a great player so I guess when he is back ill have to choose between him and Sanchez.
