Grab, Avoid or Bore off!
Our first installment of Grab, Avoid or Bore off for the 2015-16 season is ready. For those new to the site, it is a simple question and answer segment that covers everything from the serious to the absurd. So why do we call it that? Tradition, is the easy answer as we basically have veered so far off course that we look like a Tiger Woods tee shot. So glad to get the fellas back together as they offer their opinions on everything from going without Haz & Kun to Giroud’s choice of underwear. So without further ado, let’s ask our “experts” some questions on the minds of many and some on the minds of none.
Guys thinking of a 4.5 goalkeeper to partner Ruddy. Guzan has some good fixtures but with Vlaar,Delph and Benteke now gone I’m thinking Villa could be in danger of relegation this year.
Schmeichel also has good fixtures but with Ranieri in now I’m not too sure about Leicester defence.
What do you guys think?
@MattX, you could try Krul he rotates perfectly home and away for 17 of the first 19 weeks which will I least I get you to the next WC, but in general he rotates 34 of 38 GWs. Looking at the difficulty of their combined fixtures doesn’t look too bad either. Newcastle has a rough start, but the Canaries can cover for them on almost all of those GWs that they have a tough fixture.
Ye Krul was another option I was thinking of just wasn’t sure about the new manager and how they’ll react to him.
Watched a fair portion of the United game last night. Looks like they lined up in a 4-2-3-1 to me. Maybe that is not what LVG would call it, but it certainly looked that way.
Johnstone
Darmian Jones Blind Shaw
Carrick Schneiderlin
Mata Depay Young
Roon
From a fantasy perspective, Young was still taking corners, I saw Mata and Young stand over Indirect free kicks with Mata taking it. Blind at CB looked out of position. He committed a penalty on a slide tackle that wasn’t called. It was an obvious pen and he knew it. Schneirderlin looked solid and scored the only goal on a header from a cross from Mata. Depay was tucked in behind Rooney. Had one real nice one touch pass to set up Rooney for a shot, but other than that was a bit quiet in his debut. Rooney didn’t get many chances at all as there wasn’t really much getting to him with the exception of the Depay pass. I can also see where some people say that Depay is a bit selfish. As he took a left footed shot from outside the box when a simple pass would have left Young in one on one. Maybe he didn’t see him, but if that’s the case that means he is not looking in certain situations, which in fantasy is not necessarily a bad thing. I like my FPL players selfish. Damian looked like what one would expect, solid. Shaw got up and down the left flank.
In the second half they changed everyone out for the second 45. Pereira the young Brazilian looked real lively, hope they give him some minutes or put him out on loan where he can because he looked promising. Herrera may give LVG a selection headache because he looks good. Bastian was like Darmian, exactly what you would expect, solid. Januzaj could have scored but his finishing was a bit off. Well that’s enough from me.
Depay is selfish, hoping the United players set him straight. Him not being on free kicks is sort of disturbing, might reconsider having him now.
Raz, it was indirect free kicks to be fair. They didn’t have any direct ones in the first 45, so unfortunately I didn’t get to see if he be over them. I will keep an eye out for that.
Well, one thing can be said about the dude, like LvG he always believes in himself. All the top players have a sick believe in themselves, look at Ibra and Ronaldo. Not saying he will ever reach that level but being crazy egocentric sure does help a bit in that process.
On that note, not a big fan of arrogant people in general. HAHAHA! In football at least they are entertaining me.
Cheers Mito. Hearing Depay is selfish is exactly what I thought and I’m not 100% all for being selfish in my FPL I want it 50 50 as they aren’t going to be scoring every game. Haha
Was Rooney looking good when he did have the ball or was the supply to him really dreadful? If his supply was good I was thinking of getting him.
@MAttX, he didn’t see much of the ball. With the exception of the pass. Here is a small 4 minute video and pretty much what you see in that from Rooney as what I saw last night. https://youtu.be/dxoT-62renA
Cheers Mito. Will have to see more preseason games before deciding.
Best £4.5m defenders? Not too sure about Richards/Villa defenders anymore with all their big names departing.
AT
Anyone from the promoted sides Martin & Whittaker (Norwich), Francis & Mings (Bournemouth) or Holebas, Prodl (Watford).
Muniesa (Stoke) assisted today – he looks good to me.

I like how all the big teams are covered offensively. Berahino in there too is good. Scored early this morning.
Thanks GP. Trying to work out who will possibly be getting more clean sheets, Palace, Stoke, Villa or Leicester.
Mr D
Palace and Stoke probably. Palace have it rough with fixtures for a bit.
Arsenal XI vs. Everton (Barclays Asia Trophy): Cech; Bellerin, Koscielny, Chambers, Gibbs; Ramsey, Cazorla, Wilshere; Ozil, Walcott, Giroud.
Everton XI to play Arsenal: Robles, Coleman, Stones, Jagielka (c), Garbutt, Barry, McCarthy, Deulofeu, Naismith, Cleverley, Kone
If Aguero doesn’t make GW1 in good health, what week are you planning to get him back by? 3, 4?
NIN, I’m strongly considering play my WC during the first internationsl break which is something I’ve never done before.
Interesting. I want to keep mine for the December madness. What GW does the break usually happen around? I cant remember for the life of me.
Usually after week 3 I think, but since the season starts one week earlier it will be after 4.
Right, cheers Mito. If Aguero isn’t good to go for week 1 i was thinking to bring him in for Watford (h), which is week 4 i think. Pretty easy to do with three transfers too. One in GW3, two in GW4 to get him in.
@NiN, I posted this yesterday on Kun, not sure if you got a chance to see it.
Nice one Mito. I don’t remember seeing the original post. Maybe Diego is the way to go, then worm Kun in after a few weeks. Food for thought. Cheers budski.
