Grab, Avoid or Bore off!

Our first installment of Grab, Avoid or Bore off for the 2015-16 season is ready. For those new to the site, it is a simple question and answer segment that covers everything from the serious to the absurd. So why do we call it that? Tradition, is the easy answer as we basically have veered so far off course that we look like a Tiger Woods tee shot. So glad to get the fellas back together as they offer their opinions on everything from going without Haz & Kun to Giroud’s choice of underwear. So without further ado, let’s ask our “experts” some questions on the minds of many and some on the minds of none.

Well my team is pretty much set now unless a few big names come over.

Ive gone with a 5th Midfielder/ 3rd Striker rotation for obvious reasons. And ime going with Coleman and Ivanovich becuase there returns are up there with the top midfielders. Ime going to risk going without Aguero and stick with Costa because i think my team looks really well balanced with points coming from all over without Aguero.

That’s a nice team Ant. You’ve spent a lot on Migs,Coleman and Ivan and in my opinion only Ivan is going to get big points for you Everton don’t get many cleansheets and Liverpool have difficult fixtures plus you just never know what defence will show up on the day. Morgan is also a doubt I think hes still in the semi finals of the Gold cup with Jamaica so he hasn’t even had a break yet.

Coleman over the past few seasons has had great returns.

        • MattX says:

Ye I suppose Coleman did make 100 odd last year I guess I forgot due to Everton having such and up and down season. I just feel with Evertons starting fixtures he won’t be much use until later.

      Ant

I do like that squad mate. You risking Morgan though?

Shame Deeney is on the bench but that shows good strength.

Going without City is brave but overall very good.

Saw something about Hennessey being first choice until October..Is this something to do with a proposed move to West Brom? A steal at £4m if is the case..

Afternoon peeps. I see a lot of teams with good ol’ J-Rod sat firmly in them… with Pelle and Long, plus his recent long-term injury, is that really wise? If he does get starts then he’d probably be great value but I’m thinking we should wait and see what Koeman does first.

Who do we see replacing Downing now in the West Ham line up?

(Sorry for double-posting, but I didn’t mean to stick this into the MLS comment thread…)

Is this team too light up top? Trying to get an all-premium midfield…

      MattX says:

I think it is mate. J.Rod may not even be a starter( I’m hoping he is he’s in my team) but then Kane might not the same season as last year and Deeney is a good backup.
Fab can be sold I think don’t need both him and Haz. Downgrade Fab and invest it up top.

      • Pippin says:

Thanks MattX, good points. Two top strikers is just so expensive, 19-24m depending on who you pick (and Aguero + Costa >>>>> Rooney + Kane in terms of points I suspect). I think you’re right that Fab could be lost. For instance I could get Eriksen, and then have Costa in place of Kane. Will continue tinkering a bit.

re your goalkeeper difficulties, what about just picking a premium? Now they’re 5.5 I think it’s a good investment which doesn’t tie up too much cash (especially given that premium defenders are so expensive). Personally I don’t like having to make a rotation decision each week.

        • MattX says:

Ye that actually sounds good. Costa would be a better improvement over Kane in my opinion so that sounds good.

Do you mean a 5.5 and a 4.0 ill have to see if I can do that but it might mean weakening midfield?

      NIN says:

This is the problem, most the time, with 3-5-2. Kinda need one heavy hitter like Costa/Aguero in there, which makes it hard to get the best midfield, which in turn defeats the purpose of a 3-5-2. I’d fancy this team to do well enough, but slowly but surely fall behind when the heavy hitters start kicking off.
