Grab, Avoid or Bore off!

Welcome to our second installment of Grab, Avoid or Bore off for the 2015-16 season. For those new to the site, it is a simple question and answer segment that covers everything from the serious to the absurd. So why do we call it that? Tradition, is the easy answer as we basically have veered so far off course that it barely has any resemblance to the original format. Thanks to our members for some of the ideas on the questions, we tried to include most of them or some semblance of them. Well enough of the small talk from me, let’s see what the girls have to say about a number of topics ranging from FPL dilemmas to who is cuter?

    Silva or KDB?

Silva seems the more important player to City judging by some of the team numbers. That however doesn’t mean he is the better FPL play. When Silva hasn’t played, City has only scored 3 goals and allowed 6. Losing two of those games and winning one. When Silva has started they have won all five and outscored their opposition 16-1. So obviously a Silva-less City is not the machine they are when he misses out. So even if he is not of huge interest to your team, understand that he matters in terms of production for your other City players. He still is as consistent as ever. His price tag and the great form of KDB has somewhat overshadowed his contributions. We must also remember that he was not credited for a goal in game-week 1 that was his. If he is properly credited with that goal he gets 5 points for the goal and 3 bonus points instead of 0. As of now he is averaging 6.8 points, with those lost points it would be a bit over 8 PPG. He is who he has always been from a fantasy standpoint. It seems like he always gets you points maybe not the big hauls that other players do, but nevertheless consistent. 10.1 might seem like a lot to pay, but if all your players averaged his usual score every GW, you would do really well in FPL as the team would be hauling 70 plus points on a weekly basis. City for now is also averaging 4 shots per game more when he plays. Think he is very worthy of your consideration even if you have KDB and Kun in the squad, particularly considering their fixtures over the coming weeks. However if you do have to leave one out from the magnificent 3 at City, he should be the odd man out. One last thing, he will most likely score anywhere from 6-10 goals, so once he starts grabbing some of them, expect BPS to start kicking in along with the goal points.

KDB has certainly started on fire for City. If you could only get one between him and his mate Silva, I think you be hard pressed to make a case for David over him right now. If we dismiss his first appearance in which he came on as a sub, he is averaging double digit points with 10.7, he also plays all the games out unlike Silva who is usually subbed out. In the last two games Silva has been replaced at the 74th minute mark. That seems like a small amount to not be on the pitch and should certainly not stop anyone from having the Spaniard, but over time will prove a considerable difference when compared against KDB if the trend continues. So about every 6 games or so expect KDB to have played one more whole game than Silva in terms of minutes. When you consider City and their scoring tendencies over the last couple of seasons it becomes even more important. This season City has scored more than double the goals in the second half of games. They are the top team in EPL in the second half, they were also last season and the season before that in second half goals. On top of that they score more goals in the last 15 minutes of a game as a team than any other 15 minute span of a game. Well this season they have scored more from 45-60th but that was helped immensely by Kun going nuts last game, the last 15 minutes of a game has still seen them score the 2nd highest amount this season and the highest last season and the one before that of any other 15 minute span. Which means if KDB is still on and Silva is not, you are likely to see KDB picking up points at a time when City are very effective going forward, even more than usual. Makes sense also that City would score at the end of games more than any other span usually, one figures the other team is usually down in the game and leave themselves open in the back and way more vulnerable. While de Bruyne is scoring more than we probably all expected his assists are about right where you would expect it. One can only imagine that there will be some drop off in goals, but one would still expect that his production at the very least will match that of Silva and probably exceed it by a bit. For those that worried about KDB going out wide, heat maps show that he is very central on average for the game.

Conclusion, if you can somehow find the funds to include both, I would. If you can only have one I get KDB. The only thing that has been frustrating about Silva over the last couple of seasons has been injuries, because we all be hard pressed to say he didn’t deliver consistently when he had him.

      Brilliant stuff mito yet again!!

I have KDB but would like to have both at some point!!

Please, please, please do a analysis on Walcott smile

      • Calvin Clyne says:

Mitro there are only so many places available in midfield, and you want everyone laugh If you could WC now who would be in yours?

        • Mitro says:

          CC – I can only afford this frontline at the moment;

Walcott KDB Mahrez Alexis payet along with kun vardy and pelle up top!

After Xmas is when I can start doing my master plan!! smile

        • lukealike says:

calvin I have pretty much identical but instead of Mahrez I have Eriksen. :)!

        • lukealike says:

          MITRO infact, not CK

        • Calvin Clyne says:

I have 6 of those, but Mata and Ighalo over Sanchez and Vardy. It’s tough enough benching Ighalo at the moment; wouldn’t fancy benching one of yours or Luke’s front 8!

        • lukealike says:

i ditched Mata, its was a ahrd break up but he ahd to go. Not for his drop in form, but for Man U being typical. Whcih upsets me when I had such hopes sad

Im pretty sure Silva is the best overall choice, DeBruyne might be more in form at the moment. But there is no way DeBuryne can keep up with Silvas level of consistancy. Who can? Maybe people would say Hazard once, but well that theory went out the window. Not many players perform week in week out like Silva does, he is as important to city as Aguero is?
For now DeBuryne is the obvious chocie, but in the long run Silva will be the best performer.
The EPL aint the bundesliga, if he replicates his stats from the Bundesliga then tbh im impressed and maybe im wrong and he is better then Silva. But yea give it a season or two and time will be the biggest factor.

I didnt read your telgraph article, maybe you said the same thing :~)

      • Raziel says:

Ummmm Lukealike? Makes no sense what you’re saying. DeBruyne is already proven to be consistent playing for a much lesser team than City in the Bundesliga. Just as hard a league, just not as much matches. If anything I think de Bruyne is less injury prone and already more succesful FPL points wise. Remember Silva being class the first few seasons but getting no points in return? De Bruyne is already doing that. I’m the biggest fan of Silva but City now have 3 star players with Kun/Silva/DeBruyne. Sterling not near the level of the other 3.

On that note, even though KDB looks settled in Silva really is settled in the team and will probably take most set pieces and shit (even though de Bruyne showed he can). I’m actually considering having all 3 after I sell Kolarav (KunSilveKdB). laugh

        • lukealike says:

Yea ok, you really think he will keep his form? And the Bundesliga is not the EPL… Two good oponents in Bundesliga? And in the EPL any team can beat anyone in the EPL
Soon as DeBruynes form drops off see Silva be the once carrying City to the trophy, as usual.
Dont get me wrong he is good, he just wont keep his form. Mybae 1 or 2 more games then it will quiten down and Silva will be the player to have. Remember my psot, and you will see im right. Your welcome bra,

And we’re scratching around for articles to fill a few gaps in the break and you have this up your sleeve and don’t think to mention it?!

Great analysis there Mito. It’s a hefty price to accommodate all 3 and also have Sanchez and a decent 2nd striker. I did consider it on my WC last week but decided to spread the money a bit more by taking Payet. In fact even with the 2m difference in those 2 it was difficult to fit him in without seriously compromising elsewhere. You’ve certainly made a compelling case to include though. For me it’d mean losing Kolarov to a 4.5 or less and losing Payet for him. Won’t be doing that just yet but it’s one to look at.
