Grab, Avoid or Bore off!

Welcome to our second installment of Grab, Avoid or Bore off for the 2015-16 season. For those new to the site, it is a simple question and answer segment that covers everything from the serious to the absurd. So why do we call it that? Tradition, is the easy answer as we basically have veered so far off course that it barely has any resemblance to the original format. Thanks to our members for some of the ideas on the questions, we tried to include most of them or some semblance of them. Well enough of the small talk from me, let’s see what the girls have to say about a number of topics ranging from FPL dilemmas to who is cuter?

Haha don’t even joke :):)smile If they both followed Klopp over, I think Liverpool will become very dangerous again. I’m excited just thinking about it. I wouldn’t be surprised if Reus was 10mil+……. ah what a thought

Long and Lewandowski, my two new favorite players :hippo:

agree with most of the article, but you all overlook Walcott massively. You couldnt have a better alternative to Snchez from that team, sure he might rotate somehwat but he is going to be scoring pretty much every week and will play at least 60mins. And his price in comparions to Alexis…. I have him over Sanchez, wish I had Sanchez as well, but I know Waloctt will deliver for sure. Next week 1 goal minimum

Hi Luke, I’d agree that if one didn’t have Sanchez then he’d be the next best thing but he still comes with a degree of rotation risk whereas Sanchez doesn’t realistically. Sanchez will outstrip him by minutes, goals and FPL points ultimately over the season. Would I realistically have both? No. Wally is averaging 54 minutes per game so far and has 2 goals. I’d take Sanchez and a more guaranteed starter at the 8m mark like Payet every time. He’s capable of the bench too which makes him viable regardless but that’s a risky strategy. His minutes have picked up which is promising. I think Cookie mailed it ultimately – if Giroud was out for a spell then we’d all be on him like a rash.

      • lukealike says:

Yea I wish I could afford Sanchez, so Walcott, he is my next best thing really. And your right he will massively outscore W, but for now he is my best bet till I can make room. Prefer him over Giroud at the moment though, I would pick Cazorla, Ramsey or Cech before Giroud though :/

        • inittowinit says:

Yeah Giroud doesn’t look secure at all. Hope Wally can grab the chance and nail that position and by all accounts he did so in the Utd game but I didn’t see it all so can’t say. A couple more games at that level and he may be close to doing so. You may hopefully have a small differential for a few weeks at least if he does. Just hope Sanchez doesn’t kill you on the other side in the meantime laugh

        • Calvin Clyne says:

I really do think Wally could hold his own against Sanchez. The only downside is minutes, but he’s getting them at the moment and I’ll keep hold of him until that stops.

        • inittowinit says:

It’s admirable to support your gut. Did the brain also buy Sanchez though? 😉

        • Calvin Clyne says:

The brain had Sanchez in weeks gone by and got tired of waiting! :cuss:

Can’t believe how much Scotland’s defenders turned off for that equaliser :noshake: Dying minutes of the game and won’t make the play-offs if they concede, and they just stand there watching it hit the post and don’t even move to try and clear it!! Shockingly bad.

      • inittowinit says:

Hey NIN, did you sort the MLS podcast thing?

        • NIN says:

Howdy mate. Yeah i had a listen in the end. It’s usually posted a lot earlier than it was this time around. Before it went live i seen a few on their forum talking about it so they must have access to it earlier. Where or why that is i do not know.

How did your team do? 68 here.

        • inittowinit says:

Cool, I had it about 5pm on Wednesday as I listened to it in the gym but pretty sure I saw it had landed on iTunes earlier in the day. That’s the best way of getting it. It just downloads when its available.

59 here I think it was without checking. Bit pissed at Dallas as I fancied a cleanie and doubled up accordingly but one of them got 3 minutes! Sub was a Vancouver with a cleanie too  Amazed at the average though – 13!

        • NIN says:

Ah, that explains how they had listened to it before it launched. Cheers for the heads up.

Bah, unlucky. I assume you had Harris then? Yeah the average is pants. There must be very few active teams at this stage. Shame how it fizzles out like that, it was the same last season if i remember correctly.

        • inittowinit says:

Yeah just search for the pod on the pic below. Guy is usually worth the listen on his own! Reid (MLS Fantasy Boss) is a good host and Jason seems stoned most weeks. Either that or he’s just very laid back…

Harris did the dirty. Minutes looked OK as well. Oh well! Any competing for anything came in about 55+ and mostly had the same points roughly. Apart from Potty and Bry. Potty went completely with differentials as usual and Bry just didn’t read the article as he picked a couple who were highlighted as MIA. Think the site team needs to finally go boom or bust to win it now. 2nd is inevitable otherwise.

        • NIN says:

Agreed, it’s much better when Guy is involved. I think Simon is the only one who’s a bit shit on it, the rest are very good.

Just had a look at the league, and yeah, pretty much everyone is on the same-ish score. There’s a lot more to aim for next week, though, so plenty of wiggle room for the site team. Any idea who manages “Gimli”? Only scored 5 points this week and a quick look at the season history shows no activity since GW27, despite being ranked 223 after that week.

Pesky Harris. I’d say that caught a lot of managers out. I lucked out there myself, had Hedges and Acosta.

        • inittowinit says:

Lol, I was trying to be kind to Simon! He seems like a great bloke he’s just prone to answering by starting out with some version of ‘yeah, well, you know, whatever, I don’t really know / care’ laugh

Was hovering between Harris and Acosta and just lucked out on the pick.

No idea on Gimli, doesn’t ring any bells.

        • NIN says:

Yeah, he seems a good skin but he’s very tedious, for me. Still, it’s a great Podcast.

        • inittowinit says:

          Oops, forgot the pic!

Which combo is better for a WC team?

    1) Silva , cook, bassong
    2) Walcott, j.evans, bellerin
    3) payet/mane, Bertrand, bellerin
…..it’s just that the post above about silva vs Kdb has made me think about putting both in the team, some cheap defs for silva worth it? As I would prefer to downgrade one of KdB/silva after a couple of games, than look for extra cash to upgrade to silva if he hits form.

      inittowinit says:

I’d be seriously tempted to roll the die on #1. 3 looks better balanced but that’s the issue in a nutshell. May depend on the other 3 defenders. If you think you can field a decent 3 from the 5 each week in some fashion then I’d go for #1. Premiumising on defenders isn’t a priority now I don’t think as predicting any CS for anyone seems a minefield.

      NIN says:

3 is the stronger selection there for sure.
