Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! – Fantasy Premier League 2019-20

Guess who’s back, back again….

With the fpl season getting closer and closer to starting, it is of course time for Bore Off to also kickoff. I have gathered the three originals, as is tradition for each first edition of the new season. As always a new season brings new hope. Hopefully this article helps a little, but not too much.

Looking back through the first Bore Off from last season, I noticed that the Amigos had many things right. All 3 had Salah as the first person in their team sheet, they were all for the LFC double up in midfield with Mane, which would have worked out well for any manager who did. Cookie and Kop were talking about a back four and in Cookie’s case he was talking up a 5 back. Cookie was ahead of his time! Init had his eye on Milivojevic and Cookie said this “Mili is obviously great for a penalty every time Zaha falls over”. Kop talked about a possible golden boot for Auba and was hopeful that Allison would sign for LFC.

Hopefully they can replicate some of their good calls for this upcoming season, let’s see what they have to say.

  2. Greetings from Capetown. Good to be back and thoroughly enjoying all the comments from all the FPL Guru’s. Need some help guys , I’m forced into Dendonker as starter, what changes do you guys suggest to get more reliable starters . Team as shown.

    • VVD instead of TAA and someone slightly cheaper than Pereyra will give you money to upgrade Dendoncker or Simpson/Kelly to play 4-4-2

  3. Chelsea just got a pen with Jorginho on the pitch. Barkley took it and scored

    • Two goals and an assist from Pulisic as well.

    • Barkley is looking good value at £6m

    • Hey lads. Watching the Chelski game here too. Pulisic (7.5) defo looks dangerous on the wings and has been pretty clinical. Abraham pretty quite. Defense looks somewhat shaky at times.

      • Good to here FC Pulsic one to watch but better options with Barkley & CHO

        • Silvers — Yeah, I’d like to see Pulisic a bit more during the season before committing, especially with Fraser at the same price!

    • I’m liking Barkley. There seems a lot of value in 6M mids this year. I may risk Barkley and Zouma in my team.

      • I’m liking the thought of Chelsea players. Mainly because they’re so cheap. I’m going to have a good look and if it seems ok then GW3 and 4 are good starting points. Earlier I’d like to play it safe.

      • They looked somewhat shaky at times defensively so I’d be hesitant on a Chelski defender who offers little attacking returns (Zouma). (Worth a mention perhaps is that Kepa had some brilliant saves. Don’t know if I’d bring him in until I see them play the first few games of the season though.)

        • They defo red Kante back in that defensive mid pos.

    How’s your teams coming along?

    I think I’m getting closer to my final team – just a few tweaks needed I think, thoughts?

    • I like it. Any alternatives for Dunk if he don’t move?

      • If Heaton defo goes I can bring in pope for Leno which will free up 0.5 to upgrade dunk?

        • Yeah that will be better anyway I think. Though Heaton is pretty much gone

    • I think I’m moving further away sad

      Tried a team with Kane/ Sterling/ Salah and KDB in it.

      It means 1 became 2 below. Not sure if it’s worth it.

      1) Ederson, Robertson, Digne, Fraser, McGinn and Wilson v
      2) Heaton, Cathcart, Ake, KDB, Barkley and Kane

      U comfortable going without Sterling or simply can’t have them all?

      • I do want him but I feel KDB and Bilva will among the points – if sterling starts in smashing in brace after brace I will bring him in smile

        • Yeah my main problem is BSilva and KDB vs Sterling and some 6 million or less mid

        • Would you captain KDB or Bilva when Manc have a good home fixture, e.g. BRI at home GW4?

    • Likely to take a zero from a defender if Zinchenko gets rotated. Perhaps a downgrade from De Bruyne to build better depth?

  5. Any love for Heaton at Villa?

    Very good shot stopper

    • Yeah I’m tempted by him over Pope anyway. Think he might be a great option

  6. Foyth has just gone off on a stretcher. Could KWP be an option

    • He should be. But you never know with Poch

    • Your Rico comment earlier had me reaching for the bottle. Messes up my Ake placeholder wheeze. Or maybe Ake can become Rico, in time, if the latter starts.

    • I’ve had KWP in my squad for a while. The fact that they haven’t bought a right back after selling Trippier leads me to believe that Poch trusts KWP
