Welcome to Live Match Chat Gameweek 20 FPL News: We hope you enjoyed your 17 hours free from FPL and football in general! Yes, you read it right, GW19 ended last night and GW20 starts this morning. Now if that doesn’t smack of rotation then we don’t know what does. Obviously the teams are spread out in some sort of equal ‘ish’ fashion but there is also the issue of having so little time that some injuries will not be reported on. It’s a bit hit and hope in that respect at this time of year and so the team sheets will be eagerly anticipated and we begin at 12.30pm with ‘Boro hosting Leicester, followed by four 3pm games and today ends with Man united visiting West Ham. Tuesday evening see three games, before our week and Christmas period itself finally ends on Wednesday with Spurs hosting Chelsea amid echoes of a certain New Years Day fixture two years ago ending up 5-3 to the hosts, albeit a few days earlier than the anniversary.

A few questions regarding my team:
    1. Seems I need rid of Cedric. Dude has sucked since I got him in. Thinking Nyom… Ake or Boro coverage really.
    2. I brought in Bentekke about 3 weeks ago for his great run of fixtures. Since then it’s been blanks and a PK miss. They have an awesome run coming up but they will be without Zaha. Also, I can get Defoe straight swap with 0 left ITB. Should I stick for Palces next few or get Defoe in this GW?
    3. Hazard & Bentekke/Defo or Costa & Snoddy/???? I’m looking forward to the article on the big 4 names up top!

      Red Robbo says:

I’m sticking with Tekkers for the moment as GW 23-27 look irresistible, and 21-22 aren’t too bad. Defoe is always going to score though so best to go with your gut who will score the most over the next period, rather than trying to chase Defoe’s points from this GW after the event!

I just got rid of Cedric as he keeps vanishing and brought in Ake, as I reckon he has more attacking threat than the Boro options – Friend gets forward a lot and does create some chances but only 2 assists speaks volumes for me about Boro’s problems in putting away those chances. Nyom would be a decent shout but you already have 3 WBA players.

@Pancho, If Nyom stays, I still avoid him. He is crap, I wouldn’t buy him even if it was just as an appetizer. Ake seems to be finding a way to score and Bournemouth in general do get the occasional CS, so he is worth consideration in particular with their fixtures after Arsenal. Boro is the most boring therefore might make the most sense. Boro’s idea of a good time is to have 20 guys rub against each other in the midfield and have the two keepers watch at a distance.

Hard to deny the Fossil right now, but let us wait until Benteke clears this next game before any decision is made. If he looks uninvolved or doesn’t get great chances vs Swansea, it might be time to sell. Heck even Silvers would score on Swansea. Look at the underlying stats after the game and see how it looks. Shot attempts, touches, touches in penalty area, minutes per chance…

I am not keen on Snoddy right now. He is playing well, but look at the fixtures on the horizon. He hasn’t exactly put up good numbers vs good teams and after Hull plays Bournemouth things get rough.

    Snookie Bear says:

Antonio Conte has no fresh injury concerns to contend with ahead of Wednesday’s clash with Tottenham, with Marcos Alonso recovering from the knock he sustained against Stoke City.

The Chelsea boss has, however, confirmed that David Luiz is still suffering pain from Sergio Aguero’s tackle at the start of December.

    Eagle says:

Hey guys really need some help with my team. I’ve dropped almost 300k places and my team is on a downward spiral. At one point i was planning to delete my team account but i’ve got picked myself up. Bad captain choices and bringing in Ibrahimovic late were the main reasons.

Had 2FT but already used one and brought in Matt Phillips for Siggy. I have 1FT and 2.1ITB. Origi seems to be the next one to go. Thinking about Defoe, should i get him? Also, should i buy Aguero for a -4 pt hit? I would have exact money for these moves with nothing left over in the bank.

Any other suggestions would be welcome. I will also be bringing in Baines for GW22.

Nice team that Eagle No need to do a Nin !! Origi to Defoe and sit back and light a cigar !!

      • Eagle says:

Thanks Brookyboy. I don’t think its a nice team or else I wouldn’t be in this position lol. Yeah, whatever happened to NIN? For the past 3 weeks i’ve dropped 300k places mainly due to captain Kane flopping and scoring a brace when i sold him for Ibra. I will light a virtual cigar since I don’t smoke.

@Eagle, Hey old bud. So, hard to argue against the Defoe move in particular if it is for Origi. One can only assume that Coutinho will slot in for Mane even if it’s not in the same position. Thinking Can could take a midfield spot with Lallana sliding further up the pitch and Bobby back up top or Sturridge assuming he is not dead after that small knock he received yesterday. Thought Daniel was actually very good, so if fit he could start up top also. Having said that guess I am saying that Origi is a big rotation risk, but you knew that otherwise you wouldn’t be looking to sell.

Not sure about buying Kun just yet. His best fixture was yesterday and the biggest reason to get him in ahead of time. His next two are not pushovers and you might be able to get him a bit later. However you cite money as a concern so that part is up to you. Can you clear money for him if needed in a few weeks or do you think you need to buy him now because it will be too much trouble in the future.

      • Eagle says:

Mito – Yes i agree with your analysis on how the Pool team’s selection could be formed. Did you and Klopp have a chat? Defoe seems to be the best long term third striker to just stick him in your team and play him for the season since he offers great value.

At the moment, money is exact if i want to bring in Kun for a hit but i can raise funds by selling Walker (S.P 5.9) for Baines (5.4) next game week to have some spare funds if needed.

    Matt says:

Afternoon fellas, what to do with this team? Have 2 FTs and 1.1 itb not sure if I’ll still bring in Kun or not so might try and keep as much money as possible.

      Andy says:

I think you need to make your mind up on Kun and either get him in or leave him out completely as just leaving the ‘just in case’ cash in the bank is nuts when you’re having to start either De Roon or Anichebe every GW.

Not sure what the hell’s going on with NyomNyom so you’ll have to wait on the fall out from him but Johnny Evans will be available for West Brom defensive which at 4.5 could be a budget option and if you fancy upgrading De Roon I like the looks of Stanislas at 5.1 for Bournemouth, he has three decent looking fixtures on the horizon after Arsenal tonight.

I’d still probably hold off from the early FT’s though as most of the big teams will have two games to play before the next GW rolls round.

      • Matt says:

Cheers Andy. Will be looking forward to this article Mito proposed about which of the big 4 strikers(Costa, Ibra, Kun and Kane) are worth having and in what order that way I should be able to make up my mind. The plan was Aguero in for the Swansea game and Ibra out. What are your plans for Kun?

As for Nyom I don’t even know if it is worth keeping him even if he stays as it’s not like WBA have been keeping CS only 1 this season so I’m thinking he may be worth selling no matter what. I did have Stanislas earlier in the season but sold him. Don’t mind de Roon for now he has decent fixtures and can chip in with goals. What do you think of Traore for Boro?

I will definitely be holding my transfers but have exams coming up so won’t be on this as much as I usually am so want to get a good idea of what I’m doing.

        • Andy says:

I’ve gone balls deep on the 3-5-2 with Kun and Ibra up top, the theory is that both Kun and Ibra could maybe keep pace with Costa over most GW’s as Costa hasn’t been much of a BPS magnet throughout his consistent scores so keeping hold of Hazard in my midfield may turn out to my advantage as he looks likely to be the makeweight player for those going heavy with the three up top.

If it does go tits up for me and either Costa or Kane have to be brought in then I should be able to bring them in easily with both Kun and Ibra being more expensive however if it was the other way around I’d be struggling as I’d need to hit around it, I’m looking forward to the chaos of so many big guns being around and with very few teams being able to afford them all at all times, the only player I’d consider essential at this stage is Sanchez who thankfully hasn’t been listed as a forward yet.

Good luck with them exams mate smile

        • Matt says:

I hadn’t thought of selling Costa for Aguero but that’s what I may do and keep Haz as he was the one I would have been selling.

          Sanchez will definitely be staying!!

          Cheers Andy smile
