New Fantasy Premier League Transfers 2018/19 Richarlison and James Maddison
Hello and welcome to New Fantasy Premier League Transfers 2018/19 Richarlison and James Maddison. We continue our look at new Premier League transfers by focusing on two promising mid-priced attacking midfielders, namely Everton’s Richarlison and Leicester’s James Maddison. Richarlison you will likely remember from his time at Watford last season while you may not know so much about James Maddison unless you followed the Championship. Both midfielders are priced at 6.5mln and would appear to offer good value for money. They both also have the advantage of starting the season at their new clubs with decent looking fixtures.
Richarlison
Everton
FPL price: 6.5mln
Many of us hold fond memories of early season Richarlison from last term. Having been recruited by Marco Silva at Watford, the Brazilian scored five goals and assisted four in his first 12 starts. However, his form slumped and he failed to score again as Watford were disrupted by Everton’s ‘chase’ of Silva as their manager. The two have now been reacquainted as both look to make Goodison Park a more permanent home than Vicarage Road ever was.
£40mln may seem a lot for a player whose form dropped so dramatically last season but the market is what it is and Silva clearly has a lot of faith in Richarlison and will clearly be under pressure to again get the best out of him as Everton begin the season with an attractive looking run of fixtures. Adept with both feet, decent in the air and owning pace and trickery Richarlison has much going for him – he was the most fouled player in the Premier League last season and only Mo Salah, Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen had more attempts than him, though FPL owners will want to see an improvement in his finishing.
Richarlison can play on the left, right or through the middle providing Silva with numerous options for his first Everton signing – the signs are good that a summer break has helped the Brazilian for he assisted for Watford in their first pre-season friendly before his move to the Toffees. Silva believes Richarlison’s range of attributes and fierce work ethic will make him a perfect fit for the club. “The player is fast, strong, very good technically and he can play in three positions across the front line. He can also score goals. Evertonians will see a player who will be 100 per cent committed to helping our team always.”
Richarlison himself is glad to be working with Silva again and is excited at the move to Everton: “I’ve known the manager for a while obviously, so I know how he works. I developed really well with him while he was with me at Watford. It was really good working with him and one day I believe he can help me to be selected for Brazil in the full national team. I want to score more goals, provide more assists for my teammates and help in whichever way is possible.”
With Everton’s fixture list and a FPL price tag of 6.5mln, it would appear that Richarlison should be a strong contender for your squad. Despite Silva talking about the strength of the squad providing competition for places it’s worth noting that Silva never rotated Richarlison at Watford. If he can settle in quickly and can find wherever he left his shooting boots he could be FPL gold.
James Maddison
Leicester City
FPL price: 6.5mln
James Maddison joined the Foxes from Norwich in a deal worth around £24mln in June. Claude Puel very much sees Maddison as the replacement for Riyad Mahrez and while those may be big boots to fill, the signs are that Maddison has what it takes to prove a success for Leicester and also a very interesting mid-priced midfielder for FPL managers. Priced at 6.5mln by FPL, Maddison has flown some what under the radar – while much of the attention has been on similarly priced midfielders such as Richarlison, Jota, Sessegnon and Milivojevic, Maddison has ownership of just 0.6% of teams (at time of writing) and has hit the ground running in a Foxes shirt.
Maddison played for an hour vs Notts County and looked immediately at ease in the no.10 role that Puel very much values in his possession based system. The manager’s desire to keep the ball relies on the playmaker who can find space, wants to get on the ball as much as possible and then split defences open with forward passes. Sounds like Jamie Vardy’s ideal team-mate!
Maddison will also find himself on most set pieces, certainly free kicks and corners, though Vardy is expected to remain first-choice penalty taker.
Puel describes his new recruit as ‘one of the most exciting attacking talents in English football’ and is delighted that Leicester were able to hold off interest from Southampton, who also had a bid accepted for Maddison. In fact there was specualtion as early as January that Spurs were ready to make a bid.
The midfielder scored 14 goals and recorded 8 assists last season for a Norwich side that finished in a disappointing 14th place. Time will tell if Maddison can make the next step up and perform in the top flight but the 21 year old will certainly be given every chance and much of the play will go through him. Leicester’s fixtures are generally pretty good which should help Maddison find his feet. On that regard he is certainly someone on my watchlist and I’ll be keeping a closer eye on the remainder of Leicester’s pre-season friendlies to see how Maddison progresses.

The League Codes for FF247 for the 2018/19 season are as follows –
Views? The one with Aguero has £0m ITB the other has £1.5m ITB
Like the Aguero one better Ben.
Agreed, the Aguero and De Bruyne lineup has the potential for returning more points.
I know PSG had the weaker team but ARS putting five past them is still pretty good.
Thoughts on Anthony Knockaert @ 5.5m? Have not seen him mentioned anywhere, was hyped up last year?
I think Brighton will play new boyJahanbakhsh on the right flank and there will be no place for Knockaert
Hi all..this is my 3rd draft..combined with all yours team selection.
Please rate my team.
Thanks
I like it Xhunt!
Good team there.
Can’t really cavil with that side. For Fabregas I’d go with Pedro as I think the latter may get more points.
I think Wood of Burnley is up there with Zaha and Arnie and so is someone to ponder.
Two Palace defenders?
I think we’ll see a lot of that – I’ve currently got Tomkins and the handy 4m enabler myself. My shaky justification for this is that Zaha is likely to be the only other CP player I’ll need (or maybe one of their mids, if some superdude materialises) so I think it’s a risk worth taking. Or maybe get really risky and just have the 4m defender, if he’s guaranteed to start. Or just get Cédric instead of Tomkins. Or…
Yeah to be fair my team had Tomkins and Obi-Wan until I was advised against it!
Is Wan got a good chance of starting? Or are you just going for him because he is 4?
If it is the latter I’d go for Bennett instead in case a cheap Palace mid does really well.
I don’t see the problem with Tomkins/PVA and WB – Palace’s defensive stats are vastly better when Tomkins and Sakho started together, whihc they only did in the 2H of the season. WB is a great enabler…plus their fixtures are good.
Thanks Cookie so I guess the question is therefore Tomkins or Cedric?
Tomkins for me but Cedric does offer potential attacking returns. Saying that Tomkins has had a rest and preseason while Cedric has only just returned this week.
I actually have both right now as I think they are the best 4.5mln defenders available.
Cedric had 400 more minutes on the pitch than Tomkins, yet scored less than Tomkins…
there’s your answer then
Cedric crosses the ball A LOT, he was 5th in overall crosses (137) last season among defenders, yet he only had 3 assists last season, but that might be down to the awful finishing of the forwards (which could still continue this season )…
Tomkins is a goal threat, so obviously Tomkins is likely to outscore Cedric, who’s not a goal threat… But will Tomkins keep up with his amazing end to last season?
Having said that, I have both in my team at the moment
This Patricio/Fabianski combo is becoming very popular. Is there any better £9m combo? Everton?
Foster/Fabianski looks good to me
I have Foster/Fabianski too, the Red and Black color combo is absolutely unbeatable for me, and the aesthetics for me go a long way But, on a more serious note, I think Foster rotates better with Fab too than Patricio, at least for the first 10 or so fixtures, by which time I have probably WCed anyway…
For instance in GW1 with Foster you get Brighton at home instead of Everton at home, and in GW3 you get Palace at home instead of City at home (Wolves) or Arsenal away (Fab)…
For me..i just select players who has room to assist or score. Tom and wan is among low budget money can buy. Honestly, i am so confius with to many players..haha. maybe after GW3 its easy to maintain or swap player with current GW..
Btw, thanks so much for your comment..i really appriaciate.
Morning wonderful people! What are the general thoughts on city’s dead certs to start? Silva, KDB and Fernandinho? Also do we think Aguero or Auba as the main striker? I currently have Auba, Arnie and Zaha.
KDB and Fernandinho will play most games. Pep has said a couple of times DSilva won’t play as much this year as getting older but I’d still expect to see him a lot. On Aguero currently it’s just those City fixtures. Think he’s first choice
Thanks for the responses everyone – City’s fixtures defo appeal and they should do well.
I think i will reassess and possibly switch out Auba to Kun and Silva to Sane.
Ederson and KDB.
Kun for the first couple of games then assess. Let’s hope he starts against Huddersfield.
KDB did 3073 minutes last season. Sane only did 2415. However with 209 points, KDB averaged 6.8 points per 100 minutes. Sane, with 179 points, averaged 7.4 points per 100 minutes.
So if KDB’s minutes go down or Sane’s minutes go up, Sane may outscore KDB over the season.
Yeah, but we do have Free Transfers in the game, and also 2 WCs, so you can make plenty of changes, it’s not like you have the same team throughout the season… Of course if you think whichever you choose, Sane or KDB, in GW1 and keep them until GW38, that logic hold, but given players go in and out of form, teams fixtures vary throughout the season, and so on, you’re likely to make changes, even sell Sane or KDB… So in a stint of 15 or even 20 games, it’s more important which one starts more games…
Plus, if KDB’s average points per 100 minutes go up, or Sane’s go down, it’s a no brainer
