[/three_fourth]As the season progresses, it’s time to start keeping an eye on the red and yellow card count for our players and transfer targets, in order to make sure we can field 11 players each week. With cup matches also playing a part with regard to suspensions, holding that transfer until later in the week can sometimes pay dividends.
In brief, any player who gets a red card during a game will receive a suspension, normally between 1 and 3 games, depending on what has done, however players also receive suspensions for yellow cards. Any player who receives 5 yellow cards up to and including 31st Dec will receive a 1 match suspension. Any player who receives 10 yellow cards up to and including the second Sunday in April will receive a 2 match suspension. Any player who receives 15 yellow cards before the end of the season will receive an automatic 3 match suspension.

The FA website is a great resource for suspension information, current suspensions can be found along with lists of all players close to suspension (currently 4 yellow cards). However it is also possible to search by team and check the amount of cards for all players in each squad, so its always worth a look before making any transfers.

[/three_fourth]Branislav Ivaonvic picked up a red card in the match against Manchester United at the weekend, but the one match suspension was served on Tuesday night in the Capital One Cup so he will be free to take to the field at the weekend against QPR.
No other red cards were flashed at the weekend, however, two were shown in the midweek cup games, although only one of these will lead to a Premier League suspension. On Tuesday Federico Fernandez of Swansea picked up a red card against Liverpool, however this has subsequently been rescinded and as a result he will not miss any games. This was followed by a red card for Peter Crouch on Wednesday night and a suspension will follow. At the time of writing the length of this suspension is not yet known, nor is it known if Peter will appeal, so keep an eye on the news for more information.
Phil Bardsley of Stoke will miss this weekend’s game against West Ham, having picked up his fifth yellow card of the season in the cup game against Southampton, he will not be able to play until Stoke meet Spurs on 9th November.
The yellow card count is now starting to clock up for a good few players with the players below all on 4 yellow cards to date. One more yellow and a one match suspension will ensue:

Cesc Fabregas Chelsea
Jerome Williams Crystal Palace
Steven Naismith Everton
Lee Cattermole Sunderland
Craig Gardener West Brom
Winston Reid West Ham

So, in a nutshell, all we have to do is keep track of the red and yellow cards……….errrrm well no, that’s not strictly true. We also have to keep an eye on social media!
Rio Ferdinand has been handed a £25,000 fine and a three match ban, to commence with immediate effect, subject to any appeal, following a comment he made on twitter. He will now miss the three league games against Chelsea, Manchester City and Newcastle, and will not be free to play until 29th November against Leicester. Rio was also ordered to attend “an education programme”…………………..it would be too easy to follow this up with numerous jokes, but you know we don’t do that kind of thing, so let’s just hope he remembers to turn up!

    Sterling>Tadic and Di Maria>Sanchez for a 4pt hit?

    What do you think guys?

Redmecca – Not sure I would take a hit. All 4 are capable of getting good points. I know there is a Sanchez bandwagon but I am not on it. Think you have to go with your gut instinct.

I see what you’re saying – It’s not always about statistics is it?
Sanchez scored 2 goals last weekend yes, but one was given to him by a mid-field slip up and the other was a simple tap-in after the keeper made a terrible error.

Hey all, just need confirmation that this move is good.
    Mannone (Heaton)
    Baines Wisdom Bertrand (Moore N.Taylor)
Di Maria Siggy Chadli Sterling (King)
    Costa C, Pelle V, Aguero
    0.2m itb and 1FT

    Mannone out, Krul in?
Since Mannone should be dropped on his rubbish form (Patty is a decent keeper), my keepers don’t rotate anymore and seems Newcastle is starting to get there stuff together.

Our teams are very similar, and I’m also in a similar situation with keepers. I’ve got fabianski and am looking to take him out this weekend. Like you I have baines and a Southampton defender, so I don’t really want to double up on them at the back. My worry with krul is that Newcastle are so inconsistent and could easily concede, however I don’t see many good options in the region, so he is probably your best bet

      • PeterPan says:

        Duthers,
Yeah its really between Krul, Guzan and Schmiechel for me (4.5m keeper) who can rotate with Heaton/Mannone… Newcastle can easily keep a clean sheet or concede 2/3/4 goals… but with Villa conceding 13 in there last 5 games rules Guzan out and Leceister also leaky in the back I dont have much options… So Krul it is. That and I also dont like doubling up on my defense.
With your issue, Swansea have a tough 2/3 games then will have a nice run of games, maybe stick it out? Else who would you look at bringing in?

      • PeterPan says:

Now who to start… Heaton away at Arsenal or Krul at home to Liverpool…. Got to back the home team and start Krul
