Fantasy Football Captain Picks

The Captain’s Picks article, which will be released every Wednesday, will endeavor to sort out one of the most challenging problems FPL managers face – namely pick the member of your side who will accrue the most points and earn huge double point tallies for your fantasy team. We will concentrate on the most obvious looking selections each particular game-week and have a look at some comparable stats to see who, on paper, the best options are.

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 4

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 4 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 4 Perhaps we should all be a little more cavalier and start sticking our armband on whoever takes our fancy. If anyone was brave enough to go with Odegaard (32pts) then they have bigger you know what’s than yours truly, and whilst Rodrigo has been the form player thus far this season, few would have backed him to pick up 26pts let alone his teammate Harrison to go one (x2) better (28pts) against the visiting Chelsea. But we didn’t recommend any of those players, sadly. So how did our writers do? Well, we may have had to wait until the 81st minute of the final fixture but it was Stone Frog’s Salah pick (16pts) who came out on top. Maddison grabbed a solid 14pts (Swirly), Init backe...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 3

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 3 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 3 After GW1’s flurry of 20 odd fairly obvious Capo points to the fairly obvioys candidates it was a bit more down to earth in GW2 for our writers. With no mention of Jesus (just the 38 Capo points) we were left with a defender (Cancelo) top of our pile (22), Haaland (10) and Salah (4) lagging and our differential pick of Bowen flatlining again (4). But as ever hope springs eternal so let’s go see what they all reckon for GW3… Haaland v Newcastle (A) by Init Ah sh!t, City got 4 and Haaland came away with 1 solitary assist? What a load of old boll*cks! Oh sh!t, sorry for swearing, I didn’t know I was live! And so yes this may be a bit of a sweary piece, but forgive us, it’s on...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek GW2

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek GW2 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek GW2 GW1 proved almost predictable in terms of our picks, with Salah and Haaland off to a flier, Kane and Son proving ‘Spursy’, and Sterling finding that goals are always seemingly hard to come by for Chelsea forwards, past and present. Here’s how our writers fared: 1. GP — Haaland, 26 points. Two goals and all 3 bonus points. We have a feeling we may be typing that sentence an awful lot this season. 2. Rosco — Salah, 24 points. A goal, an assist and 2 bonus points. We have a feeling we may be typing that sentence an awful lot this season… 3. Kop — Son, 10 points. A solitary assist when Spurs scored 4. 4. OddDane — Sterling, 6 points. Just a clean sheet to show for his debu...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 1

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 1 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 1 Once more unto the breach dear friends, once more …. The first Captains Article of the new season and it’s a beauty. We have five superb picks which might make you think that it isn’t all ‘plain Salahing’. Admittedly Salah is up first (but that’s only because the teacher’s pet Rosco got into the article editing suite first) so please read right to the end because even if you are set on Mo, there might also be something which could sway you to (or from) owning the other four picks if you happen to be swithering right now. The correct answer for captaincy is of course Erling Haaland which might lead you to work out who wrote this intro …. Rosco –...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 38

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 38 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 38 And there it was gone. And in all honesty, good riddance to it. (And yes I know you shouldn’t (really) begin sentences with ‘And’, especially not on an article that has pretty much all of your (sometimes pedantic) writing team featuring on it!). And I don’t care! But (yeah, I know…) back to that season… We pretty much all hoped it would be more of a ‘normal’ one but it proved itself to be anything but, once again. And in all honesty, it was a pain in the arse, again. Fixtures cancelled at the drop of a hat, GW’s re-arranged, games re-arranged, Covid protocols installed and taken the piss out advantage of. All in all, it was a bit of a mess a...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 37

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 37 So…. how did your DGW36 Captain do?! If it was Salah, the answer is ‘not very well’ (*insert own expletives). If it was, perhaps, Kane or Nketiah who were given the armband, then the answer is probably ‘alright’. If it was a Son the answer is probably ‘yep, I’ll take that’. If it was a KDB, well, then the answer is probably ‘bloody awesome!’. Whatever your answer or outcome, you can forget that one now as we have another to negotiate with immediacy. Albeit with slightly less appealing DGW participants to play with. Let’s go so see what this week’s choice panel make of this week’s… choices. Maddison vs Watford (A) & Chelsea (A), by Swirly While Kevin de Bruyne r...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks DGW36

Fantasy Football Captain Picks DGW36 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks DGW36 We’ve got just three gameweeks to go, and this week in particular is a big one! Whether it’s the last throw of the dice as you bring out the big guns in the free hit, or you’ve been working your way to this one with the bench boost chip in mind, some leagues could be won or lost on the back of how you do this week. Or, of course, you could be way out in front – or way out behind. Either way, let’s have a look at who Stone Frog, Swirly and Init suggest you should be placing the all-important captain armband on. Stone Frog – Son v Liverpool (A) & Arsenal (H) Seventy-three points in the last six gameweeks, wow! For sure Son is a form player at the moment. To put those 73 poi...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 35

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 35 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 35 Gameweek 35 is upon us, as we near towards the end of what has been another weird season. It’s one that this writer can be joined by others in thinking that they won’t remember it fondly and will be more disappointed there won’t be any football over the summer, rather than a lack of FPL. Of course, there have been the usual heroes and a few new faces on the scene. The likes of Salah, Mane, Alexander-Arnold and, later on, the Spurs duo of Kane and Son have shown themselves to be reliable contenders for the armband, whilst new kids on the block in the shape of Bowen, Saka, Jota and even Cancelo have been amongst the top points scorers this campaign and would have made great diff...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek DGW34

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek DGW34 GW 33 may not yet be over but with just Burnley and Saints yet to play we have enough info to bring you our picks based upon this week’s fixtures and also enough to conclude how the team fared last time out… 1. OddDane – Salah, 38 points (as Captain). One game vs Man Utd is all that is required sometimes… 2. Gear – Ronalso, 34 points. One game was all he was afforded and our thoughts go out to him for why he had to sit out the 2nd. 3. OddDane – C. Wood & ASM, 16 points combined. Our greedy Dane picked 3 players and picked these two as a pair! 4. Jamesimmo – Son, 6 points. A surprisingly quiet week for Son as Brighton once again upset the apple-cart. 5. Matt – Maddison, 6 points. Last place du...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 33

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 33 It’s DGW time and surely that calls for a double up on your Captain… or does it? Perhaps not actually, especially when you study the relative fixtures and form of all the doublers vs all the singlers (if that’s a word… it is now anyway). Either way let’s go see what our writing team make of it all. First up though are last week’s results… 1. Matt – Son, 42 points (as C). An emphatic victory for Matt due to Son’s hat-trick. 2. Rosco – Kane, 20 points. A hat-trick of assists was not enough to match both of their mates efforts above. 3. Swirly – Maddison, 12 points. Just the one assist left both floundering. 4. Stone Frog – Saka, 2 points. Errrmmm, unlucky? Matt – Maddison ...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 32

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 32 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 32 Brighton… can we play you every week?! Our title is no slant on Brighton, more than at least half of our writing team for this week’s article penned pieces involving them. And at least half of them shouldn’t have! A quick re-write later and we are back on track. It must have been a long weekend, or at least a good one… Worry not though, we can at least bring you good news of last week’s results. Our six charges scored a total of 34 Capo points. 34 Capo points sounds good, doesn’t it? You’d settle for that on most weeks. Perhaps less so if we told you that that’s what the six got between the lot of them! Yes, it was just one of those weeks. Let’s hope they can do better this week, especially as ...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 31

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 31 You really are being treated well this week as we have a full compliment of articles for once. Mainly because for once we have had a bit of a gap in the schedule rather than the GW’s all tripping over each other as they have been doing for some time now. With any luck next season will now see a return to a bit more normality and we won’t be having to worry about fitting the odd article in on a Thursday evening prior to a Friday deadline. As such, and most definitely with a wisful eye on that scenario, we have been on a bit of a recruitment drive this week to bolster our writing ranks in readiness. And it has proved to be rather fruitful! As has always been our policy, we only recruit from ‘within’ the sanctuary of our own w...[Read More]
