Fantasy Football Captain Picks

The Captain’s Picks article, which will be released every Wednesday, will endeavor to sort out one of the most challenging problems FPL managers face – namely pick the member of your side who will accrue the most points and earn huge double point tallies for your fantasy team. We will concentrate on the most obvious looking selections each particular game-week and have a look at some comparable stats to see who, on paper, the best options are.

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek DGW34

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek DGW34 GW 33 may not yet be over but with just Burnley and Saints yet to play we have enough info to bring you our picks based upon this week’s fixtures and also enough to conclude how the team fared last time out… 1. OddDane – Salah, 38 points (as Captain). One game vs Man Utd is all that is required sometimes… 2. Gear – Ronalso, 34 points. One game was all he was afforded and our thoughts go out to him for why he had to sit out the 2nd. 3. OddDane – C. Wood & ASM, 16 points combined. Our greedy Dane picked 3 players and picked these two as a pair! 4. Jamesimmo – Son, 6 points. A surprisingly quiet week for Son as Brighton once again upset the apple-cart. 5. Matt – Maddison, 6 points. Last place du...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 33

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 33 It’s DGW time and surely that calls for a double up on your Captain… or does it? Perhaps not actually, especially when you study the relative fixtures and form of all the doublers vs all the singlers (if that’s a word… it is now anyway). Either way let’s go see what our writing team make of it all. First up though are last week’s results… 1. Matt – Son, 42 points (as C). An emphatic victory for Matt due to Son’s hat-trick. 2. Rosco – Kane, 20 points. A hat-trick of assists was not enough to match both of their mates efforts above. 3. Swirly – Maddison, 12 points. Just the one assist left both floundering. 4. Stone Frog – Saka, 2 points. Errrmmm, unlucky? Matt – Maddison ...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 32

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 32 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 32 Brighton… can we play you every week?! Our title is no slant on Brighton, more than at least half of our writing team for this week’s article penned pieces involving them. And at least half of them shouldn’t have! A quick re-write later and we are back on track. It must have been a long weekend, or at least a good one… Worry not though, we can at least bring you good news of last week’s results. Our six charges scored a total of 34 Capo points. 34 Capo points sounds good, doesn’t it? You’d settle for that on most weeks. Perhaps less so if we told you that that’s what the six got between the lot of them! Yes, it was just one of those weeks. Let’s hope they can do better this week, especially as ...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 31

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 31 You really are being treated well this week as we have a full compliment of articles for once. Mainly because for once we have had a bit of a gap in the schedule rather than the GW’s all tripping over each other as they have been doing for some time now. With any luck next season will now see a return to a bit more normality and we won’t be having to worry about fitting the odd article in on a Thursday evening prior to a Friday deadline. As such, and most definitely with a wisful eye on that scenario, we have been on a bit of a recruitment drive this week to bolster our writing ranks in readiness. And it has proved to be rather fruitful! As has always been our policy, we only recruit from ‘within’ the sanctuary of our own w...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 28

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 28 It looks like a right mixed bag for GW28 in terms of the armband. We have a raft of teams (and players) with doubles, but not really the teams (or players) who you would want to have them, and then a few teams (and players) who have singles, who really are the teams (and players) you would rather have a double, but may still be better off with a single. To make sense of all this we have asked Kop, Matt and Init for their input on what looks like a strangely confusing S/DGW to pick from…. Single Gameweek Players Kop – Salah vs West Ham (H) / Kane vs Everton (H) Yes, I realise there’s a double gameweek this week but it’s hardly worth getting your knickers in a twist about. Particularly when it comes to your captain. Are you really going ...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 24

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 24 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 24 Hello once again, and a warm welcome back to our wonderful community. We hope you are all ‘enjoying’ your rather enforced FPL break. So stop / start has it been this season once more that even after all this time we still find ourselves stuck in the tail end of the last GW, about a week and a half since the last ball was kicked in it. Odd times indeed. Hopefully the next few weeks will run a bit more smoothly now though since the PL have finally put their foot down on all the willy nilly cancellations and stated that Arsenal a club must have 4 positive Covid cases to force a game to be called off. That said we do now still have about 20 games to be fitted in somewhere along the way so any kind ...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 23

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 23 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 23. I haven’t written an article for a while and this is the first ‘regular’ article we have posted after what has been a crazy period. The last few game-weeks can be described as nothing but the absolute depths of hell for most FPL managers. Games are being cancelled left, right and centre, double game-weeks are being announced only for them to turn back into a single game-week before you know it. Managers have been stung bringing in a player like Trossard or Dennis in the hopes their extra game will give them a sneaky differential boost… which never comes! This has left quite a few people feeling deflated and lost for where to go with their teams. That is no different from this captain article a...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 13

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 13 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 13 We have struggled somewhat in recent weeks to even justify doing a Captain article, such has been the dominance of Salah. We muddled through last week though and sort of heart-heartedly brought you a couple of alternatives. Well, guess who won… And with Southampton at home this week we decided (sort of) that it was all a moot point again. Except that Matt had already put his name down for Salah and cracked on and wrote all about him. By which stage he suddenly began to realise that he would probably be unopposed and so decided to attempt to turn on himself and ended up writing the whole lot! Here follows his attempt to get you to Captain Salah, and also his attempt to convince you that th...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 12

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 12 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 12 Back to FPL business we go, then, after another international break rudely interrupts the Premier League action. Or it’s a welcome break if you’re Swirly. Whatever. Looking all the way back to Gameweek 11 and it was Man City’s Cancelo who should have been the man to captain in the end, as he picked up 14 points in the comfortable 2-0 win over the local rivals. The perma-captain choice – at least until he heads off for international duty in about eight gameweeks’ time – registered an assist as his side were defeated 3-2 by West Ham and, other than TAA, you were lucky if you had any of the other big points scorers that time. It’s been a long time since ma...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 10

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 10 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 10. It’s all about… the vice! When I initially asked our writing team for their Captaincy input this week it was about 1pm on Sunday. By 6pm, I was met with a mixture of silence and incredulity. After all, Salah had just done that, to Ole and co. And he has a home game this weekend against Brighton. In all honesty, I could have just left it at that but it felt like a dereliction of duty to not at least address the issue. This will not be a long article. The fact of the matter is that we are possibly about to witness the most captained player ever. If he fails then at least we all fail together, and for once it won’t matter a jot to your rank either way. Which sort of sucks the fu...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 9

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 9 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 9 We start as always by casting an eye backwards to the previous week to see who drew the golden ticket and who, the short straw. Gameweek 8 Review Salah v Watford (KRALIN – 13 points via 1 goal, 1 assist and 2 BPS) Son v Newcastle (SMASH – 9 points via 1 goal and 2 BPS) Foden v Burnley (ROSCO – 6 points via 1 assist) So no one blanked but still some did a lot better than others huh? Each week it just feels like it’s a race to select Salah for writing duties in order to gain some credit in this column the next week. Whatever we can do to massage these massive football/FPL egos at FF247 towers we will. A happy ship and all that… Kralin – you da man! Let’s se...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 8

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 8 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 8 Last week was supposed to be all about which of Big Rom or Big Ron would beat up more on some beleaguered opponents. Antonio was a popular pick outside of that pair as he was supposed to be the star man in a high scoring affair with Brentford. Vardy was the outside pick if anyone felt a bit more daring. None of that quite worked out as expected, but ultimately football would be boring if things were always that simple. Last week’s ‘results’ table ended up as follows; 1. Matt – Vardy, 16 points. A goal and a couple of bonus points saw Matt and Jamie take top spot by a country mile. 2. Rosco – Big Rom & Big Ron, 6 points combined. Our sneaky Geordie thought heR...[Read More]
