Captain Picks Fantasy Football Game-week 25 – Fantasy Premier League 2015/16 As midnight chimes in Tuesday morning, I switch the TV off, reducing Sky Sports News to naught but static electricity. I turn to face the noxious wall to my right, solemnly observing the solvent evaporating as it leaves the pigment behind. Through oxidation the exothermic reaction produces heat, and after a few hours the process is finally complete. Tired and intoxicated, I pull myself to my feet and make my way to bed. I fall asleep with the conclusions of the evening rattling around my unsettled mind. Yes, watching paint dry was way more exciting than transfer deadline day. Stoke were one of the few clubs to show up at the January sales on Monday. Like an eager consumer first in the queue, face pressed up ...[Read More]
Team Talk Fantasy Football Game-week 26 Welcome to GW26 and things are beginning to heat up in with a blank gameweek is on the horizon while the excitement and planning for double gameweeks is just around the corner. But for now we have a normal 2-day gameweek which is kicked off at the Stadium of Light as relegation threatened Sunderland host the Europa challenging Man Utd. Five 3pm matches follow as Bournemouth welcome Stoke, Watford go to Palace, Everton take on West Brom, the Hammers travel to Norwich and Southampton trek to Swansea. The evening kick off sees Chelsea on tv again with Newcastle the visitors to the Bridge. Saturday’s matches are just the warm up though as we truly have a Super Sunday with the the leaders Leicester visiting 3rd placed Arsenal and 2nd placed Spurs go...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Pottys Predictions Game-week 23 We are slowly starting to realise why the bookies make so much money! Last weeks epic battle saw just five managers get just one result correct from a possible five predictions and so there was a resultant play-off. Quite predictably none of the participants managed to predict a single game correctly and so we went to the tie-breaker and we are delighted to say that NISHANT won it. He has already claimed his prize and that will be on it’s way out to him next week. As a bit of housekeeping, we know some winners have had their prize but we are aware that there will still be some previous winners out there that didn’t receive it but unfortunately we have no way of identifying which were sent and which weren’t right now so if t...[Read More]
Kops Fantasy Football Tips Game-week 21 Greetings and welcome to our first Tips article of 2016. We last brought you a dedicated Tips article ahead of GW17 and quite a bit has happened in the intervening game-weeks. Before you get excited FPL is still a minefield and for those of us who continue to struggle, the climb up the rankings remains an arduous task! Since we were last with you the 2nd wildcard of the season has become available and many have activated their wildcard in a bid to resurrect their season. This will hopefully help to spice things up as managers attempt to break the template and this will be aided by the clamour to get the likes of Aguero & Payet into teams, as well as the potential return to form of Chelsea. So whether or not you’re on a wildcard we have below out...[Read More]
Captain Picks Fantasy Football Game-week 20 – Fantasy Premier League 2015/16 We don’t specialise in “I said this, I said that” nonsense on here. We specialise on giving the best advice we can given the information and stats to hand at any given point. Whether it’s right or wrong after the event is another matter and not one we indulge in. Usually. This week is different though… Let’s play ‘Best Pundit’! Back in GW16 we asked some of our ‘sages’ to give us their picks for captain in that week and again this week we do the same but before that we decided to take a look at the results of their last effort! Did you follow one and if so will you do the same this time or pick another more ‘successful’ punter? GW16 Resu...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Game-week 22 – Fantasy Premier League 2015/16 GW22 is live! Nothing like the sweet smell of a lunch time kick-off. Spurs welcome in the lamb for slaughter when Sunderland pays them a visit and that is followed by 5 three o’clock games. Bournemouth entertains Norwich in a fixture that entertains no one, Chelsea welcomes in their superstar Lukaku…oh wait. City pummels Palace in Manchester, while Newcastle looks to halt the Frenchman (oddly enough) Payet. In other action the Saints will look to entice Pulis and his men to actually come out from their own 18 yard box. In the last fixture of the day, we see if the Leicester duo remember how to kick a donkey when they face off versus the ass, Villa. On Sunday we see two games to add to our FPL t...[Read More]
Fantasy Football FF247 Team Game-week 22 With that game-week done, that is one less we have to worry about embarrassing ourselves in. Another pathetic showing from the FF247 XI, good thing FPL doesn’t have relegation, otherwise we drop from the Premier straight into the Sunday leagues. However, no matter how bad we perform you can never say we are not pretty predictable. That makes it red arrows in 9 of the last 11 weeks and nothing in our recent past points to a turn in our luck. We managed 30 this GW, which was 5 below the average, but about 5 more than you should expect. We now sit in 1.2 million and we find that the teams around our ranking usually are ran by people who colour coordinate their teams or only have players with names that start with the letter R. Never mind, the man...[Read More]
Captain Picks Fantasy Football Game-week 18 – Fantasy Premier League 2015/16 Ah, the Premier League and Christmas. A perfect union. One is an internationally renowned brand, pimped to almost every corner of the globe, exploiting working class people and pressuring every nagged parent to buy the latest overpriced merchandise. The other is the Premier League. But after the Christmas Day dinner, comes the Boxing Day banquet and then the true festival begins. 2015/16 ’tis the season to be jolly so far for Claudio Ranieri, who compared his team’s success to Forrest Gump. Presumably due to their unstoppable run to the front, rather than implying Jamie Vardy was a slow-witted American Football player with an aptitude for ping-pong. In truth, the whole Premier League campaign has...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Fixtures and Tips Game-week 18 Actual football and fantasy football have a lot in common of course but this week reminded us of a crucial difference in that we as managers don’t have a billionaire Russian judging our performance from the stands. Which is probably just as well this season as we wouldn’t be talking to a bunch of Cookies, Kops and Mitos right now, we’d talking to their fancy new replacements Biscuit, Trafford and, well, probably Mito, given his teflon like qualities. Point is that we run our own fantasy team from top to bottom, we make the transfer decisions right down to washing the spoiled undies at the end of each week. One such manager, who took this analogy a bit too literally, not so long back, is this weeks Fixtures writer NIN. For th...[Read More]
International Tournaments in January & February 2015 Some of you will have read the header and thought Tournaments! There’s only the African Cup of Nations to contend with…. wrong answer boys and girls! There is also the AFC Asian Cup in Australia to deal with. It could mean that some Premier League players will be unavailable for 3-4 gameweeks. With FIFA regulations stating that “For a final competition players must be released and start to travel to their national team no later than the Monday morning of the week preceding that of the start of the relevant final competition, and must be released by their association the morning of the day after their last match of the tournament” this could have a huge impact on Fantasy Manager’s January Wildcards. Now I bet some of you still t...[Read More]
Team Talk Fantasy Football – GW2 2014/15 Whether you had an excellent, average or disappointing start to the season, it’s time to put that behind you and move on – FPL waits for no-one and only looks forward, not back. Which is a result as I’m fed up of hearing about United’s failure to compete in the transfer market, Malky Mackay not quite being the victimised, sweet, innocent guy we all thought he was and Tim Sherwood pulling “out of the race” for every job going as if he’s just turned into Matt Busby, Bill Shankly and Fergie all rolled into one. But, it looks like we have Mad Mario back, for entertainment purposes at least – firework suppliers have gone into overdrive and “Why Always Me?” t-shirts are, errmmmm, still sell...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Pre-season Friendly Overview We sent him here, we sent him there. He came back with regular pre-season updates. We appreciated it all gratefully. What we weren’t quite expecting was that he would come knocking on the FF247 door at the end of it all and tell us that he had compiled all the results for every team into a nice little pile for us. And that he’d completed a summary assessment of each team. And that he’d included the main transfers for each. And that he’d he then added a few observations. And that he’d even then included likely line-ups for each team. Well blow us away as he’s done all that and then some! Hats off to The Gallant Pioneer as this truly is an outstanding piece of work. Over to the man himself…
