Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek and FF247 Site Team 38+.

What could possibly go wrong………………………………?

GW38+ Deadline; Sunday 26th July 3pm GMT

We’ve finally come to the end of what was ultimately a bizarre yet memorable season. Possibly for all the wrong reasons but it is what it is. Or was what it was, hopefully.

We can’t let it go without handing out more than a few ‘thanks’ though. We feel like we do this every season, and we do, but that doesn’t mean any of it is less heartfelt. Let’s go view everybody’s end of year school (FF247) report…

The Writing Team
Outstanding. We have a team of about 15 writers all told, give or take. And each and every one is a pleasure to work with. Whenever you have ’employees’ that is probably box 1 ticked. Box 2 is whether they are actually up to the job. And our writers certainly are. Their body of work speaks for itself. It is consistently brilliant, and we can’t thank them all enough for it.

IT
Much maligned and forever blamed. For everything. But our IT team is to ‘blame’ for us even having a website in the first place, maintaining it, improving it (whenever Init shouts), and generally keeping us online. It’s a thankless task which goes unnoticed most of the time. And for that we thank them. We think…

Social Media
Masks off, Swirly posts our articles and a few other choice bits on Twitter, anything you see on there that is somewhat approaching controversial will be from Mito. Init oversees the lot filling in the gaps and dealing with the fallout from Mito’s posts!

Matt ‘runs’ Facebook, although we think he may have forgotten that he does…

Site Members
By this we mean those who comment regularly. The main reason we do the work we do is you guys. We see other fantsay football sites who have little or no interaction in their comments and we wonder why they continue or where their motivation comes from as a result. You are our motivation. And we thank you all. Each and every comment keeps our pecker up and is appreciated.

Readers
To those who simply read we say thank you too. We know you are out there as we see the stats and they are staggeringly good so we know you read even if you don’t interact with us. And that’s fine too. Thank you.

As for GW38+ itself all the games begin at 4pm on Sunday and we shall not bother you with any needless waffle about them, they are as follows:

The games in full…

Keep track of all the action, the goals, the talking points, right here at FF247 Live Match Chat, an interactive chat which encourages you to keep involved and share your thoughts and emotions as the matches take place.

What Next?
Plenty, as it happens, so don’t go away for too long.

We intend to pick up where the Champions League left off and that one begins again on August 7th so look out for our preview prior to that with a reminder about where we left it in terms of the Regs League, what the craic is going forward with transfers and the new look layout for it in terms of the fixture schedule.

GP has made a gallant attempt to get us to play Fantasy Football Scotland so if you wish to do that check out his post here . We are lead to believe there will also be articles on it. Can’t wait.

Beyond that the plan for the 2020/21 season seems to be to resume on the 12th September so no doubt we shall gallop from the CL straight into our usual pre-season articles with info on the newly promoted teams and the like.

For now though enjoy GW38, and we shall see you soon!

Our GW37+ Result…
Saturday began with an inevitable clean sheet for Pope. Sunday brought us an unexpected one from Aurier. That was after Ings had both delighted and disappointed in equal measure.

We then had to wait until Tuesday for our next involvement. Which was predominantly the City lot and new signing Auba. And what a bunch of flops the lot were! Granted, Foden got us a welcome goal but Dilva was a no show and Auba may as well have been too.

Wednesday needed to be better or we would be staring down the barrel of a huge red gun arrow. TAA did his best for us, Greenwood brought a goal and Salah an assist but Wan-B not starting was a blow and our Captain Bruno just looked spent. Pulisic was probably our surprise highlight / bonus given that he he didn’t even start!

All in all we landed on 65 points which despite being 12 above the average still saw us take home a small red’un, stumbling down 2k to 41,931st.

GW38+ TRANSFER
We have (n’t yet) SOLD Auba and (have not yet) BOUGHT Kane
Confused?

Basically this is a proposal. In a bold move we have decided to wait until the last minute for once, in the hope of some early Man City team news. In the absence of any we shall proceed with the Kane move.

The alternatives are Salah to Sterling or KDB to Sterling. Or anyone else to Sterling… Essentially we are waiting on Mr St. Tropez.

So what could possibly go wrong… well, we have left our IT department (Floydeth) in charge of executing this transfer as he was the only one who put his hand up as being ‘definitely available’ for the task. Gulp.

GW38+ CAPTAIN
Our Captain for GW38+ wil be DAVID SILVA

Our Vice-Captain will (may) be HARRY KANE

Our intention is to captain David Silva and that probably won’t alter unless we hear he is unexpectantly benched, which he almost certainly won’t be.

Our vice is up for grabs but Kane will get it, if he gets to grace our team. Only time (or IT) wil tell…

Good luck to absolutely everyone for Gameweek 38+ from all at FF247!

Our team in full, in theory…
We shall post on site tomorrow to confirm either way.

Not a regular on here but just wanted to say a big thanks to all the site contributors for their time and effort, it’s really appreciated. The content as always has been first class this year I’ve been playing fpl for years and years now and have always found your articles very insightful and entertaining (ESPECIALLY at times when I’ve been too busy or on holidays and not had time to do the proper analysis myself!!) Looking forward to next season already. Hope you guys enjoy your few weeks off

      Kralin says:

Thanks, but you realise that all the regulars are carrying out deep analysis of 19/20 already? The ink’s barely dried.

Not only could I tell you how many whipped crosses that Robbo er whipped in, I could tell you how many times he had to tie up his laces and from that, how many tightly tied laces led to an assist.

      • Haha, funny you mentioned Robbo Kralin, I was very aware of his assist potential and was my last minute transfer in for TAA this week as a result once I saw leaked Liverpool team Very unlucky with the TC choice for you, I guess you had just seen the team news too late?

      Ryder

BECOME a regular. Throw your tuppence worth in mate. So long as you’re friendly you’ll fit right in here mate. Set yourself up with a Gravatar and comment away.

How did you get on this year?

      • Yeh will try comment a bit more next season. Was backpacking for last few months so not had enough time let alone cellular data to contribute but back to the bump and grind as of tomorrow so next season should be different!! smile finished 16k. Not as good as the glory days a few years back when was regularly in the top 5k but hopefully a move back in the right direction. How about yourself?

        • AK47 says:

damn regular top 5k. I’m impressed.

        • I’d eat your backpack for 16k!

Projected to be about 242,000-odd personally – inside my worst but by no means my best – and honestly just glad we eventually got to the end of it.

Fantastic stuff if you were regularly 5k so think we could benefit from having you around.

      • OddDane says:

Out curiousity GP, what would constitute a Regular on here, i.e. does one have to have an avatar? and post every week, month, etc.? E.g. would be fun to compete in the ff247 reg. league

        • No, regulars don’t have to have an avatar but it definitely helps to recognise a simple picture psychologically.

It’s a bit different now that the gravs are colourful caricature faces instead of the old grey identical ones I suppose.

You’ll become a regular without knowing it. So long as you check in often and interact. I still advise getting a grav though.

          Go to settings. :good:

        • Rosco says:

I would say you are pretty much there to be honest, I know I’ve interacted with you a fair bit! As GP says, a gravitar is the best way to up that interaction, people instantly recognise it and recall prior chats, banter etc! Dead easy to set up too!

Get yourself in the regs league next season too!

        • Inviting all-comers now Rosco, huh?

        • OddDane says:

Cheers. I’ll try and behave more next season, and do so more frequently!

I’ve used the ff247 site the past couple years, but more or less until this season I’ve almost solely focused on my ml and when that went belly up I’d just leave FPL be at some point, the results are generally not good I might add… smile

        • OddDane,

If I’ve learned anything in FPL after all this time, it’s that there’s never a lost cause. Always keep going.

        • OddDane says:

True GP this season has had its fair share of stupid and unlucky decisions on my ens, such as yet another TC fail, but despite that I ended up doing reasonably well on 67k… Annoyingly still 200ish points behing my ML leader who is #11 😯

      • AK47 says:

Anything around 26k would satisfy me.

        • Kralin says:

I always try to do better than the last season.

        • Kralin,

I must admit I like that. I always aim to do best than my worst. Might say more about me I guess.

        • AK47 says:

Yeah Kralin that’s a nice way of looking at it. I did get 3k once which I don’t think I’ll ever beat!

        • AK47 says:

It was back in the Fantasy Football First days.

        • Kralin says:

Well, my worst is very bad indeed – when I started playing the game I hadn’t faintest idea what I was doing and was always puzzling over how I could never beat certain people in the mini league I was in.

I mainly try to beat last season’s score as a way of keeping myself interested in the game.

I hope Smash is right, however, and we’ve seen the end of the leaked line-up. I think if that becomes a regular part of the game then I will rapidly lose interest.

        • OddDane says:

Agree Kralin, it’s either or for me – either with or without first game line-ups. Imo preferably without, which I believe was also initially the intention

        • Kralin says:

3k is terrific. I’ve never finished higher than 6k.

I’ve a couple of other targets – I’d like to get into the top 1k at some stage; – plus, weirdly, I’ve never (in a normal, non-chip week) had a GW score >=100. Even the week Aguero scored 5 I didn’t manage it. So that would be nice.

        • Kralin says:

It’s got to be without because a) the playing field is no longer level and b) it makes the community dependent on some random Twitter account leaking the information.

          It’s just really crap.

Anyhow, hopefully they’ll just change the deadline to two hours before or something and completely close that one down.

      Elleffcee says:

Hey up ryder, welcome along for the ride. Keep checking in on site, i’ve submitted the write up for the regulars leagues to the boss (Init), hope its not long before its up and you can get yourself in.

Haha, funny you mentioned Robbo Kralin, I was very aware of his assist potential and was my last minute transfer in for TAA this week as a result once I saw leaked Liverpool team 😉 Very unlucky with the TC choice for you, I guess you had just seen the team news too late?

      Kralin says:

I didn’t see the leaked line-up. Was doing some gardening. I’d pretty much tuned out and popped in out of curiosity to see who’d started for City. Then I looked at the Liverpool side and nearly had a coronary.

It was a total disaster. It was an attempt to try and barge my way into the top 10k – I went for Silva and Kane this week with similar reasoning. I knew it was risky and could backfire, and so it did. I should have chosen the player I tipped in the article.

I’d long wanted to play a chip in the final GW and what I got was utter bathos. It’s a lesson that I suspect will never fail to stop giving.

Worst season for me. Would want to forget it and concentrate on the next one now.
Congratulations to all my friends here who’ve ended up with great ranks. Congrats Carolyn for winning the Regulars League. You’ve been consistent throughout.
Lastly, but most importantly, my heartiest thanks to the contributors here. You guys are awesome.
All the best for the next season guys( which is not far off).

      Elleffcee says:

Rosco pipped Carolyn by 2pts Connie, still a great feat for Carolyn. Shes my doubles partner for next season, I’ll just sit back and let her do it and win the doubles league. :hippo:

    AllanBrallan says:

Ended up in 440k something. Was hoping for more but here we are.

Thanks to FF247 and everyone here! See you real soon. Next season is just a few rainy days away!

    AllanBrallan says:

Villa stays and watford leaves thanks to this not being a goal. VAR has surely been nothing but a disaster. Hoping for a miracle and that we wont see it in PL soon…

    • 209.1
      theswirly says:

But Villa also had a goal scrapped against Palace that should have stood, thanks to VAR, not to mention various other things. I’m not saying we were down there through bad luck, we were rightfully there, however you can’t say one incident in one game decides an entire season.

    AJW says:

This is the way AJW’s season ends: Not with a bang, but a whimper.
Hahaha – thankyou TS Eliot for this most famous of quotes (that will go down with a Shakespeare-inspired ‘A striker, a striker, my kingdom for a striker’, as one of my most abusive, clichéd & pretentious paraphrasing of literature ever!)!
I was hopeful that dual guns Auba & Kane would earn me a better score, but the other cross-eyed, 6-fingered hillbillies in my team thought otherwise! Oh well – I got my best score evah (300k), but hit some heights during the season (up in the 15 or 20 k mark when my LEI assets were on a roll), so was a bit disappointed. I know it’s a marathon, not a sprint, so my mid-season effort could be likened to teenager’s first kiss – passionate, exciting, but ultimately clumsy and hastily executed!!! (Hope I’m not breaching the rules of political or social correctness here ! smile ).
But this is not about me, it’s about us – I would just like to echo the gratitude, praise and general congratulations that have already been expressed. You’ve done a great job and we thank heartily for it, site team, admin and regular contributors. What continues to reassure us is the general feeling of goodwill (and good humour) which reigns at FF247. Let’s keep it that way – it’s a wonderful community and I’d like to wish you all a nice time off wherever you are in the world. Stay safe and try to behave! smile Bye for now, AJW. 😉
