Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 29

Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 29. Back so soon? Life as an FPL manager can be brutal! First world problems and all that, eh?! Three deadlines in the space of 9 days can take its toll mentally, especially when you have to try and factor in the upcoming blanks and doubles, and trying to do so by playing a bit of a guessing game at this stage.

Back at it we are though, and so are Spurs and Arsenal on Saturday lunchtime, as they now seemingly enter a battle for 3rd / 4th spot with each other and also Man Utd, not quite the battle Spurs were hoping for only a week ago. We then have a relative treat at 3pm on Saturday with no less than 5 games. Man City look to keep the pressure on Liverpool as they visit Bournemouth, Brighton will be hoping to pull further clear of the relegation zone and in turn further condemn Huddersfield to their own inevitable fate, Burnley and Palace will be hoping their’s turns into a typical mid-table clash but both still need a few points on the board to make that a reality, Ole will be looking to continue to look invincible as Saints visit Old Trafford with their own agenda and Wolves will look to kiss and make up with their FPL fans with a home game against Cardiff, whose own fans may be forgiven for thinking their own team has already kissed the PL goodbye. What’s the record for the longest sentence ever?!

West Ham and Newcastle is finally looking like a genuine mid-table clash on Saturday evening. Give it three more weeks and the flip-flops will be getting packed in abundance for both.

Watford and Leicester kick us off on Sunday and continue the mid-table theme at 12pm, before a mini derby as Fulham host Chelsea before a proper derby closes us out as Everton look to derail the Liverpool title charge. They won’t, but it should be fun watching them try!

The games in full…

Who would you rather have over the next couple of weeks, Firmino or Robertson? Already have Salah and TAA.

Will likely get Higuain if I don’t get Firmino. If I don’t get Robertson, I might grab Azpi but not sure on that yet.

      Higuain & Robbo.

      Higuain looked very lively yesterday.
      He should provide (in theory).
The only thing that annoys me (when choosing between him and Hazard) is the fact that Hazard’s price is now only 10.8(was 11.4 before).
      Higuain is 9.6.
So, for just 0.8 more Hazard looks like the (way) better pick.
His price will for sure go up between now and GW31 as everyone will be getting him in for the double, so if one chooses to go w/out him, there’s a chance he may get out of reach in a week or two (considering the funds will be spent elsewhere).

Saying this, if one has the money – > should probably go & get both.

Cheers for this, HL. I agree with you completely. Problem for me though is getting Hazard into my midfield. Lacazette to Higuain is a straight switch whereas bringing in Hazard would require Pogba or Son making way, and right now I’m not sure I want to do that; Pogba is £1m more than what I bought him for and Son has Soton this week. Next week I could try to get rid of Son but I think that is unlikely. It looks like I will in effect be playing a 4-3-2 in GW31, which I’m okay with. Might yet decide to take a point hit to get rid of Jimenez next week to be able to field a full 11.

        • I completely understand.
I want to do (pretty much) the same move, which is a direct swap Kun (or Laca) to Higuain,
          as I don’t think I ll survive w/out a single CHE asset in GW30.
Problem is, once I do the above mentioned swap – Hazard will be out of reach!
The only to get him later on(say in GW31) is to lose Mane or Mo – which is something I don’t want to even consider doing.

So, I’m torn between getting Higuain and forgetting about Hazard or going w/out any of them vs WOL and figuring out a strategy to get both in 31.

Anyway, think I’ll wait for THU to see who plays vs DYK and then decide.

        • AT says:

Yeah, definitely worth waiting until Thursday for. Wolves have conceded in most of their games away from home so I’m keen to have someone from Chelsea this week. Tricky on Hazard though. I think I’ll just go without him myself as my midfield would need to be shaken up and I’m not sure he’s worth it. Lacazette, on the other hand, is even a risk when he starts the game, as his early substitution showed us this weekend!

        • DMC says:

Southampton beats this Spurs team. Not worried about not having Son for that game. Last famous words and all that…

Azpi + Higgs doable? If so, then that.

    Zed Leppelin says:

Which triplet would you prefer for GWs 31&33?

    King(Wilson) / Mane / Luiz

    Higuaín / Fraser / TAA

    • 128.2
      Frenchie says:

I’m leaning towards first one myself, having already Mane and Luiz, the problem being I’m not sure we’ll know which one to take between King and Wilson!
I would probably have Wilson if by then we’re sure he plays.

      • Zed Leppelin says:

Yeah that’s a problem in the first triplet… Perhaps the second one is better after all, Higuaín looked quite good and Liverpool haven’t scored a lot lately, I just feel they will score mightily against Fulham…

        • Frenchie says:

I wouldn’t go as far as “Higuain looked quite good” smile But I feel he’s pretty nailed in PL games now which is a big plus.
But I think the ceiling is higher with first combo. Maybe a bit more risky.

        • Zed Leppelin says:

Fraser doesn’t fill me up with confidence either… Tough decision this!

    GoalMachine says:

If you have to get 1 City attacker for Gw30 – whom will you get?

    • 130.1

      That’s a tough one, tbh.
With the Schalke game only 3days after, it’s a wild guess.
Personally, I think Jesus will start.
Kun might get the last 30mins (or so) and then probably start the CL game.
Although City has it (almost) wrapped up, the 3-2 result is not the best one they have hoped for to have before the return leg.
